Seems a lot of people are

That's sad, are you?

MarymaryquiteC · 16/12/2025 00:57

andanotheryear · 15/12/2025 22:33

Yes. I don’t like being a misery but two weeks with both kids is awful, it’s dark, wet and cold, they have cabin fever, the tree is dropping pine needles and yeah

roll on spring

Get a fake tree!?

HoppityBun · 16/12/2025 01:41

No

Marmite27 · 16/12/2025 01:48

Not wishing for it to be over, but DH has just had the call that MIL is starting her final journey and to get to the hospital quick (his sister was already there). So it’s going to be a sad one, but we’ll do our best for the DC.

Meadowfinch · 16/12/2025 01:51

God, No, I love xmas. I finished work yesterday, after a flat-out year, and I'm exhausted. I'm not back until the 5th of Jan. I'm going to spend time with my ds, get up late, go for a run whenever I want to, cook at a leisurely pace.

Tomorrow I shall decorate the tree, wrap presents, put up the gable lights (if it isn't raining).

Finally I can relax 😊

No, I can’t wait for so many things on the lead up to Christmas. Starting with my husband finishing work on Thursday, then it’s the Christmas food shop coming, we are going swimming on Saturday as a family and then settling down for the last few days before the big day. Excited to see the mugs we’ve all decorated and make hot chocolates in them, excited for the cinema on Christmas Eve, super excited to see the kids faces on Christmas Day and eat yummy food. I love Christmas with my little family. We also have a friend visiting inbetween Christmas and new years so will play board games as a family and really enjoy that.

You enjoy the Christmas supermarket shop-are you crazy?! Everything else sounds lovely though!

BradPittsLeftArmpit · 16/12/2025 02:07

Can't wait for it to be over

HansHolbein · 16/12/2025 02:07

No! I can barely sleep because I’m so excited.

Firefly1987 · 16/12/2025 02:09

I'm panicked atm, haven't even ordered my xmas presents yet...hopefully will in the next couple days. We have a small family so there's not much to do. The only thing I'm looking forward to present-wise is chocolate 😁I'm dreading what might be on the telly, my brother will be coming round and if there's any war films on I'll be forced to watch those for hours. I like the lead up to Christmas but by the day I'm just over it.

WallaceinAnderland · 16/12/2025 02:11

Yes. I don't really do Christmas so it just seems to go on forever.

Skynorth · 16/12/2025 02:11

Thankfully, we live in the sticks so we can basically avoid Christmas as much as we want.

Mumblechum0 · 16/12/2025 02:17

Yes,I think of Xmas as a sort of weird mass hysteria where loads of people twist themselves way out of shape to achieve some sort of imaginary perfection and in doing so, have an exhausting time .

We generally bugger off to Morocco for a week to avoid the worst of it

ScroogeMcHumbug · 16/12/2025 02:20

Yes. I don't enjoy it at all, and didn't celebrate it for years - I stopped observing it when I moved out of home. I only do it now because I have a toddler and it's what's expected. I hate the grabby consumerism, the comparisons of what's been gotten, and the tally keeping. Bring on the new year.

TeaAndTattoos · 16/12/2025 02:45

I am more than ready for Christmas to be over I normally love Christmas and look forward to it every year I love buying presents for my family. But this year it’s different because my grandma suddenly passed away last week and I just want to forget about Christmas and my birthday on Monday and just have someone wake me up on 1st January. Bah Humbug.

Blizzardofleaves · 16/12/2025 02:46

LoudPlumDog · 15/12/2025 22:38

Yes, this is my second Christmas without my darling daughter, she’s been gone just 13 months and the sadness is still here of course, this time of year makes it that much harder.

I am so sorry - what a tremendously difficult time for you.

Blizzardofleaves · 16/12/2025 02:54

I am planning to really focus on Christmas from tomorrow onwards, and really enjoy the festivities and sparkliness of it all. I have been too busy to enjoy it so far, but that will change from today.

I am ready almost entirely and now it’s time to put on the Christmas music, savour the atmosphere and drink to those no longer with us, and start to relax and get into the swing of things! I used to love Christmas and want to reconnect with the excited part of me. Put everything else to one side for a week or two, and enjoy it all.

Blizzardofleaves · 16/12/2025 02:58

We have 9 days left to enjoy it!

snugasabug75 · 16/12/2025 03:35

Condolences to those who have lost a loved one, I can only imagine how difficult this time of year must be for you.

I'm looking forward to finishing work on the 22nd and not being back until the 2nd. All presents bar stockings have been bought just need to wrap them. House is decorated, dc is home from uni, food shop has been ordered. Just have to juggle Christmas dinner with going to see each parent Christmas Day. Dad is house bound and mum insists she is spending Christmas Day by herself reading a book! (She was invited up).

lxn889121 · 16/12/2025 03:44

yes..

But not because I don't love Christmas - I'm obsessed with it, and it is the best time of the year. But I also love the "post-christmas clarity" that comes after the chaos and mayhem is done. I find it is the time of the year where I have the most motivation to actually get on and do things.

So, I'm not looking forward to it more than Christmas, but I am quite happy to enjoy the calm after the festive storm.

Firefly1987 · 16/12/2025 05:13

I absolutely hate the time between boxing day and New Years-it's all over but the decorations are all still up and you're just in limbo waiting for NY and doing all the cleaning up-yuck!

Sartre · 16/12/2025 05:18

No, I’m excited for it and can’t wait for school and work to be done. We all finish Thursday bar DH who I’m hoping will be done Monday but should be Tuesday at worst. Have the school nativities today and the Beavers Christmas fair tomorrow. Friday-Sunday different Christmassy activities every day. Always been a fan of Christmas Eve, it’s better than the actual day imo. Then just can’t wait to get drunk and unwind on the day!

WonderingWanda · 16/12/2025 05:19

Funtimes888 · 15/12/2025 22:30

Seems a lot of people are

Are they the idiots who put up their decorations in September?

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 16/12/2025 05:26

Absolutely, dislike it very strongly.
We put the tree up this weekend, two weeks and counting so I can take it down again.

I hate twixmas, never know what to do with myself. Find sitting around socialising with people so difficult and exhausting.

I LOVE the first of January and the new start and diets and back to the routine.

We have been invited to a drinks party next week and my heart absolutely sank.

I am dreading someone inviting us somewhere for NYE, I can't stay awake past 9pm 😭

bleakmidwintering · 16/12/2025 05:32

This Xmas and last Xmas I just haven’t been able to enjoy them. My brother took his life in 2021 but we celebrated Xmas with him in 2020. It really affected my 15 year old so the few years after that I felt like I threw everything into Xmas to counteract it then last year she was travelling and I just could ignore Xmas. This year I’m struggling to be enthused and can’t switch back to trying to even look like I’m enjoying it.

Alondra · 16/12/2025 05:47

I'm looking forward to Christmas, always do. My eldest lives in Spain and my 2 other sons are spending the holidays with him this year.

DH and I will have Christmas Eve dinner (the most important meal for Spaniards) with a close friend and her family, and will host lunch at home on the 25th for 10 good friends. We plan to take it easy and relax, just us, on Boxing Day.
