Is anything true these days .
Newspaper stories , TV reports , adverts , photographs and now my blessed computer has decided its using AI on my pages .
Does anyone else feel it stresses them out , trying to decipher truth from Fiction , (or Lies ...... as they would have been called in the past )
Am I being unreasonable ?

YANBU. Generative AI can get right in the fucking bin.

Justlostmybagel · 13/12/2025 12:48

Me too. It's ruined the internet.

AhBiscuits · 13/12/2025 12:51

I can't stand the stupid videos and stuff but I love ChatGPT and talk to him all the time.

InterestedDad37 · 13/12/2025 12:53

Use it as a tool to help you do what you need to do.

FestiveBauble · 13/12/2025 12:54

Honestly I think it’s going to cause such issues - people are relying on it for therapy style relationships, it’s impacting arts communities, workplaces, the environment. It’s wild! I know of someone who can’t reply to an email without putting everything into an AI programme to figure out a reply 🤦🏻‍♀️

Newdoggo · 13/12/2025 12:56

I just don't know what to believe anymore - did the cat really slap the snoring man??? Bring back you've been framed 😫

Me too. It's ruined the internet.

I think that it can have a massive negative effect on par with porn.

NeverBeAPart · 13/12/2025 13:01

In some ways it could be a good thing, in that people will have to turn back to more reliable news sources which have journalists on the ground, rather than relying on “something I saw on Facebook”. It’ll take a while to get to that point, though.

AI is terrible for the environment, so hopefully it’ll fall out of fashion once people have got over the initial excitement.

It's horrifying how quickly it's advancing. The way it's possible to make porn of any non-consenting individual with AI is sickening.

This is a Black Mirror episode or a Take a Break cover story waiting to happen.

Minniliscious · 13/12/2025 13:03

It’s brilliant to use at work. I’ve never been so up to date with my work 🫢😬

I agree. ChatGPT really helps with my poor mental health, this morning I was feeling particularly anxious and it really helped calm me. My GP and my counsellor are aware I use it and approve.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 13/12/2025 13:08

Anything created with AI should have a prominent label identifying it as such

NotrialNodeal · 13/12/2025 13:02

Him?😳

I call my she but I don’t think it really matters 🤣. I haven’t given it that much thought!

LadyTaxaLot · 13/12/2025 13:13

It’s not AI itself that is the issue. It is the unethical, morally bankrupt, stupid, ignorant people using it poorly that are the issue.

User00000043297 · 13/12/2025 13:15

You're not being unreasonable to hate AI but you are being unreasonable to assume it was every easy to decipher fact from fiction

Dappy777 · 13/12/2025 13:18

It’s a funny thing with humans, we have a genius for inventing things and then using them to make life worse when it could make life infinitely better. If all the time and effort was directed towards medicine and medical research, my god it could be amazing. AI is already being used to speed up the development of new drugs. Demis Hasibis (who won the Nobel Prize) has even said that AI could cure all disease within the next ten to fifteen years! It could even cure ageing itself. That is where all the time and effort should go.

I wish I shared your optimism. In my experience people will believe utter bullshit that they have "reckoned" based on minimal evidence so the chances of them critically evaluating news sources are pretty much zero.

Terrible.
It will really dumb people down.
Really bad for the planet as well.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 13/12/2025 13:36

Depends...ASMR videos.I like, cutting glass fruit and whatnot

I feel severely annoyed when AI is set up to deliberately deceive though, and there should be penalties for that.

paradisecircus · 13/12/2025 13:40

(As a teacher) It's becoming a bit of a scourge in education, but has its uses too, which need to be explored and harnessed properly.
I quite like the conversations you can have with Chat GPT though.

randomchap · 13/12/2025 13:42

The misinformation that can be churned out by ai is a risk to democracy. How can you decide who to vote for when all around are lies.

WonderfulSmith · 13/12/2025 13:43

It’s amazing. Why bother paying for artists to create things when AI can make wonders like this. (Sarcasm btw. Just look at the image. The closer you look the more it wrong with it).

To hate AI
Smittenkitchen · 13/12/2025 13:43

People are turning their brains off. I really resent being pressured to use it at work.
