And the update I longed to write but never believed I would be able to.

It took another 4 years but we managed to have another child in February of this year. My DC are so happy to have each other, Big DC loves his sibling and baby gives Big DC the most smiles out of all of us!

I was in tears reading back over my old thread, the pain of infertility is unimaginable. I wish for everyone who wants children to be able to have them -- as many as they want. I will be thinking of anyone struggling this Christmas and praying you have success.

Congratulations. I have a four year age gap with mine which is larger than I'd have liked.

But at 12 and 8 they are still the best of friends. I couldn't have asked for more in terms of their relationship. They don't compete in the way siblings closer in age might.

They were apart for several days for the first time this week and it was so sweet to see them delighted to see eachother.

Congratulations!! I think from reading there's an 8 year ish age gap? That's the difference between my eldest brother and me - we've always been really close and share tonnes of interests 😊 sounds like your two are going to be wonderful friends

This is such wonderful news. I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas. I too have a 10 year age gap due to secondary infertility struggles. It was so sad and so hard for a very long time but now I am the luckiest mum in the world. I am so happy for you!

This is great news an I’m so happy for you . I am similar in that I had my first dc with no issues but had secondary infertility and it took me over 3 years plus ivf to have a second. Horrible traumatic late miscarriage along the way. I now have a 6 month old baby and a 5 year old and I’m so delighted I took the plunge and did IVF last year. I wish all the luck in the world to anyone going through something similar. There are huge benefits to bigger than average age gaps I’ve learned !
