Is 7.30pm too early to go to bed?

I have had a loss this week (not a bereavement but a big loss all the same) and I'm feeling fragile, emotional and a bit alone. I'm exhausted, my house is a mess and I have lived on takeaways today. Can I ignore the mess until tomorrow and is 7.30pm ridiculously early to go to bed as an adult? I just want a hug

Sending you a hug.
It’s never too early to go to bed. Get your PJs on and go to bed if that’s what you feel like doing.

Beekman · 09/12/2025 17:56

Not at all. Listen to your body. Hopefully you will get some good sleep and wake up tomorrow feeling ready to tackle life.

Sorry for your troubles x

AudHvamm · 09/12/2025 17:56

Absolutely, you're probably exhausted (emotionallyand physically). Get a hot water bottle and dim the lights and cosy up. Have you got a nice candle you could light?

Octavia64 · 09/12/2025 17:56

Nope.

do it.

magicstar1 · 09/12/2025 17:57

Not at all. Make your favourite drink and go snuggle up in bed. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Dolamroth · 09/12/2025 17:57

Sleep well, don't let the bedbugs bite ❤️

TheTaupeScroller · 09/12/2025 17:58

If you are an adult and have no children to look after, any time is a reasonable time to go to bed! You can go to bed at 4pm if you want, that's the beauty of being free and adult.

You can also get up at 5am or 2pm, just do what you need

GoldenBracelet · 09/12/2025 17:59

Absolutely not too early. Go and tuck yourself in! 🛌

EarringsandLipstick · 09/12/2025 17:59

Aw OP, sending a hug. I’m so sorry.

730 isn’t too early but I would try to do a little in the house, even a very small job. It would probably help your mind a little, then you can do more tomorrow.

CandyCaneKisses · 09/12/2025 17:59

I’m going to bed at 7pm to relax and unwind. I’ve had some dental work and an extraction done today and it’s wiped me out.

I never see any time as too early though if it’s what you need.

ocool · 09/12/2025 18:01

If it's any consolation OP, I'm already in the PJs, have the heated blanket on full blast, am having some tea (and obv scrolling MN!), and I will head up to bed around 7pm. That's just today, just because I feel like it, I'm here on my own and I can if I wish. I'll watch something on Netflix or Prime, probably for a couple of hours, then get the book out, which means instant zzzzs.

I could wake in the middle of the night, but once I take a Magnesium Glycinate capsule it does the trick and off I go again. It's OK to be indulgent like this, we are far too reluctant to be kind to ourselves.

Sleep is a healer
Prioritise your health and wellbeing and get yourself off to bed
Last week I had 2 very early nights, in bed and asleep by 8pm, my body obviously needed it and I felt much better for it
Sleep well ❤️

FlatErica · 09/12/2025 18:06

No, it’s fine, OP. Night night! X

youalright · 09/12/2025 18:07

Not at all your body needs to recover be kind to yourself. Make yourself a cup of tea get your pyjamas on and stick a film on or podcast to fall asleep to

Mydogisagentleman · 09/12/2025 18:07

Absolutely not. I'm generally asleep by 9pm and one day last week I was in bed st 5.30, asleep by 6

Oblomov25 · 09/12/2025 18:08

Never. I love going to bed early. I'm at my happiest when I'm in bed.

Winterwonderwhy · 09/12/2025 18:09

I’m sorry for your loss op. I would think why do I need anyone’s permission to do that. If you want to go to bed early just go. I went to bed at 8 last night. I took a cup of tea and my kindle and probably dozed off not long after.

Brenda34 · 09/12/2025 18:09

No it isn't too early.
Being in bed can be safe and comforting even if you don't sleep.
Sorry you're having a difficult time.

Happyjoe · 09/12/2025 18:12

Another hug coming over... and sleep well. The house is just not important right now, look after you.

Lookingforthejoy · 09/12/2025 18:13

Sounds sensible.

If you can get a bin bag and chuck in all the rubbish and put on the dishwasher or if you haven’t got one scrap all the plates and empty out glasses and mugs ready to wash tomorrow that will make tomorrow easier x

Chinsupmeloves · 09/12/2025 18:19

If you have the opportunity to do this then absolutely!

Justchillinhere · 09/12/2025 18:59

Definitely, time to look after you, doom scroll, read a book, relax to your favourite music or just close your eyes, all snuggled up, sending a massive hug, sleep well

IceIceSlippyIce · 09/12/2025 19:22

Sleep is healing.
I hope you are getting ready for bed right now, and you've shut the door on whatever state the other rooms are in.
Xxx

Rubyandrewsjustlovingyou · 09/12/2025 19:42

If it helps calm your mind then get tucked up and head for the land of nod.

Jackiepumpkinhead · 09/12/2025 19:45

Take yourself to bed OP and don’t worry about anything else. That can all wait.
