Titanic the Musical - Strictly

Will start by saying I know nothing about this but have just seen a performance on strictly which I’m presuming is from a musical. Is it me or is it a bit tasteless to make showbiz (and rather camp and comical showbiz at that) from such a big disaster where so many people died? Surprised to see it on strictly.

I mean, technically the point of The Producers is them trying to make the most bad taste musical so making it about Hitler being a good guy

But then everyone thinks it's a parody and loves it

Which does kind of make the point that parody works

I am not a huge fan of Layton Williams but I do feel he was wasted in this. At times I thought even he was cringing at how dreadful it was. I recently saw the Producers which was in a different league.

The show won Layton an Olivier Award. I think he liked it fine
