Started reading an article in a magazine about home and Christmas when I realised it was written by India Knight. Presumably PR for the new lifestyle book she’s written called ‘Home’.

India Knight shares a home with convicted sex offender Eric Joyce, who was found guilty in 2015 possessing films showing the sexual abuse of children as young as 12 months old. Babies. The film was classified as “Category A” (the most serious category for indecent images of children), meaning it involved penetrative sexual abuse of very young children. Yet she is still with him. At the time of his conviction she had a daughter age around 11.

Why the fuck would anyone want to read a book about home written by someone who CHOOSES to share their home with a man who likes watching babies being sexually abused? Why is someone like her given any air time at all? Completely get that she was probably unaware of her partners perversions and not judging her for that but completely judging her for staying especially as the mother of a young girl herself.

Birds of a feather I suppose.

That was my thought too.🤔

BeardofHagrid · 07/12/2025 15:04

I used to read her columns in the Sunday Times all the time and I used to enjoy her writing. I stopped years ago when I found out about her being with that monster. There were often hints of something really strange or unsettling in her pieces while also being unbearably smug at times. In fact there is something pretty odd about the whole Times operation, though I can’t pinpoint exactly what. A lot of their articles are utter garbage and full of factual inaccuracies.

WilfredsPies · 07/12/2025 15:05

@tramtracks Please don’t call it CP. That implies consent and is incredibly hurtful to victims. It’s images of CSA.

Thank you. I didn’t realise the implication.

What an eye opener , that was written back in 2020 when I had no idea what damage stonewall and others were doing.

Five years ago - ( it was not a one off image, he had repeatedly searched for child pornography)

Why has the media said so little about the Eric Joyce case after he was convicted but not jailed for having Category A (the most serious) child sex abuse imagery?

Former Labour MP Eric Joyce who quit the party after drunkenly headbutting a Tory MP in 2012, had a 51-second film involving several children aged between 12 months and seven years old. It was classed as Category A – the most serious level for indecent images of children which involves either sex, sadism or animals.
..

The court heard the category A film was accessed by Joyce between August 2013 and November 2018. It featured what appeared to be seven different children, aged between 12 months and seven years.
..

Joyce resigned from the army under threat of discharge in 1999 at the rank of major after being found to have broken Queen's Regulations.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Joyce

..

Joyce, who has a string of convictions, admitted searching for child abuse images on the internet. Ipswich Crown Court heard that he claimed the vile footage arrived on his computer in a spam email. He was given a suspended sentence.
www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-53694012

..

His first arrest as an MP was in 2010 for failing to provide a breath test when he was stopped by the police. He was fined £400 and banned from driving for a year. Joyce resigned his front bench post after the conviction.
..

Joyce was arrested in 2012 at Westminster after attacking six MPs in the parliament's bar. He was fined £3,000. No jail. Given tag as part of his community order.
..

In August 2012, Joyce was back in court after using scissors on 4 July 2012 to remove the electronic tag. Fined £600.
..

After the infamous February 2012 brawl, it emerged that Joyce had been in a relationship with a 17-year-old party volunteer, Meg Lauder, in the run-up to the 2010 election campaign. She visited his flat, had overnight stays without her parents’ knowledge, and claimed they had a sexual relationship.
..

In 2013 he was arrested for another Westminster scuffle but wasn’t charged.
..

In 2015, he was convicted of attacking a 14 and 15-year-old in an unprovoked attack. His partner, Sunday Times columnist India Knight took to Twiiter to defend him and claimed the kids tried to intimidate the former Black Watch military man.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/may/01/eric-joyce-found-guilty-of-assaulting-two-boys-in-north-london-shop-mp

..

Joyce has had a long relationship with the columnist, which started after the 2010 election. Joyce and Knight had been due to marry, but she disappeared from social media recently.
..

Knight said on her return to Twitter in August: ‘Back now. Quickly want to say that whatever happened happened nearly two years ago. It was horrible for it to become public last week, but I have had two years’ worth of incredible help and support, and am fine.
‘I just felt ashamed, but then really – why should I? So. Onwards.”

..

The Times has yet to face up to the fact that its major columnist was used as a 'mitigating factor' when sentencing Joyce (see below for details) for possessing the Category A child sexual abuse imagery.
..

Knight's former step-father is on the board of News UK.
...

String of serious convictions, no jail time, little media interest. Hmm...
Edit: adding this to avoid repeating again in comments

Joyce was arrested in November 2018 over the child abuse video, and police then discovered evidence to suggest he had made other searches for indecent images of children online.
The judge said the background material found by police showed downloading the clip was not an “isolated incident” but “part of a pattern”.
He said police found around 2000 "peer to peer files indicative of downloading or looking at images of child abuse”, dating back to June 2014.

Edit 2:

Mark Shelley, representing Joyce today, told the court: “The pre-sentence report gives his background, his time in the army, time as an MP, then something happened and it all imploded. “A clever, hard-working man, taken to drink, and his life is destroyed by behaviour you have seen in his previous convictions.
“Since that time, he has given up drinking, found a partner that he loves, she loves him and they have made a life together.”
www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/eric-joyce-suspended-sentence-former-labour-mp-a4519216.html

Sentencing on Friday, Mr Justice Edis said: “You have pleaded guilty to an offence which involves the possession of a category A film of a little less than a minute’s duration.
“That film showed the penetrative sexual abuse of very young children. That these acts of abuse happened is because there are people like you who want to watch these films. If there was no market, those children wouldn’t be subjected to these very serious offences.”
The judge added: “You have sought help from people well able to provide it and there’s evidence before the court that that has had an effect on helping you reduce, perhaps completely, your impulsive behaviour, and that’s happened over a significant period due to the delay in these proceedings.”

I don't understand why she keeps getting work either. I used to enjoy her makeup colums years ago, but they weren't better than dozens of other writers.

friendlyflicka · 07/12/2025 15:34

I completely agree. She was a recent contributor to an article about successful couples in The Sunday Times. Her make up columns pick some random product and declare it life changing.

I was in a quiet pub about 3 years ago at lunchtime at the same time as them. He had the most obnoxious loud manner and she was laughing at his judgmental comments. They were completely overpowering.

Hard agree. I used to love the Sunday Times and particularly the magazine but it changed a good few years back and it’s not as good. That and the vile Joyce - just totally repulsive.

Trees6 · 07/12/2025 14:25

Are they definitely still together? Did she make a statement at the time?

Yes they are still together. They live near me although their house is currently on the market. At his court case his lawyer made a big thing about how the love of a good woman (IK) meant he could turn his life around blah blah blah.

Her daughter had to go and live with her dad as Joyce is on the Sex Offenders Register and isn't allowed contact with children. So IK stuck with him and her daughter had to move out.

Bringemout · 07/12/2025 16:16

She’s not responsible for his behaviour but she is responsible for who she chooses to associate with.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 07/12/2025 16:16

There was a thread about them a few weeks ago when their house went on the market. I'm surprised that a lot of people know who she is but not about her relationship with Joyce.

BoredZelda · 07/12/2025 16:17

JK Rowling has not been cancelled, not even close. Get a grip.

I’m sure Knight is also receiving threats, it’s what people do to women, particularly when they are being blamed for the actions of men. I wouldn’t want to buy anything she wrote either, but just like with Rowling, if there continues to be a market, her publisher will continue to buy her work.

MrsKeats · 07/12/2025 17:15

She’s well connected is why. Her daughter moved in with her father because of this too.

KTheGrey · 07/12/2025 17:20

It is a total mystery. Still writes for The Sunday Times, too. Very icky.

DramaAlpaca · 07/12/2025 17:24

I refuse to read anything by that woman because of this. Revolting, the pair of them.

Decemberweeds · 07/12/2025 17:26

Thanks for link to other thread.

How does she not feel ashamed to show her face in public? I mean I’d ask the same of him but I wouldn’t expect any kind of decency from a man who has behaved as he has.

I assume that anyone who buys her book is doing so not realising who its author is and that her standards of what makes a house a warm, safe, cosy home might be somewhat different to those of normal people ie the vast majority of society who would be repelled to be in the same room as the repulsive Joyce let alone share a bed with him.

She's a nepo baby.🙄

Lostthetastefordahlias · 07/12/2025 17:33

It’s so odd. Although her Times column was completely undeserved, she has things going for her - why would you choose to ruin your life by saddling yourself with him? They did promise an “explanation” when it all came out but that has (perhaps mercifully) not been forthcoming. They have moved house, not sure where to - I wonder if people are just polite when they meet her so she thinks people don’t know/ care? It looks like she is making a pretty substantial income off her substack called “Home” which is mind blowing frankly.

Strider55 · 07/12/2025 17:39

I had absolutely no idea, that is disgusting. I don't understand how anyone could stay with such a monster. And I don't understand how he isn't in prison?!

Why on earth would this woman continue to get publishing deals?! Do the publishers know and just not care?! I've just checked and you can get the book on audible, I'd want to know why any bookseller/platform thought it was suitable to publish the work of a paedophile supporter.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 07/12/2025 17:42

A few years ago she posted something on Twitter about Prince Andrew bringing his family into disrepute. The cognitive dissonance was staggering.

PantaloonMad · 07/12/2025 18:34

I read ‘my life on a plate’ when I was about 12 (nicked off my mum and hen we were on holiday) and I loved it. V inappropriate for a child but I there we go. Later I enjoyed her beauty writing and once ended up sending her a pr gift from a perfumery I worked for which she had mentioned in her column. I remember my boss/the perfumery owner (another awful woman) berating me because I’d embarrassed her by called it a gift. Posh people are weird and operate on a different plane.

Elsvieta · 07/12/2025 20:14

She's always been extremely contemptuous of women who are single and / or child free. (They have "small, unpeopled lives", apparently). So unable to go without cock even briefly that she's married a gay bloke, had a baby by one man while married to another, and then shacked up with a nonce.

At least she now seems to have stopped doling out relationship advice.
