Started reading an article in a magazine about home and Christmas when I realised it was written by India Knight. Presumably PR for the new lifestyle book she’s written called ‘Home’.

India Knight shares a home with convicted sex offender Eric Joyce, who was found guilty in 2015 possessing films showing the sexual abuse of children as young as 12 months old. Babies. The film was classified as “Category A” (the most serious category for indecent images of children), meaning it involved penetrative sexual abuse of very young children. Yet she is still with him. At the time of his conviction she had a daughter age around 11.

Why the fuck would anyone want to read a book about home written by someone who CHOOSES to share their home with a man who likes watching babies being sexually abused? Why is someone like her given any air time at all? Completely get that she was probably unaware of her partners perversions and not judging her for that but completely judging her for staying especially as the mother of a young girl herself.

I didn’t know this! That’s absolutely revolting.

Decemberweeds · 07/12/2025 14:19

Just to add, I find this particularly disgraceful in light of the fact that authors like JK Rowling who speak up for women’s rights are cancelled and threatened, with some bookshops refusing to stock their work.

Immediately knew your thread would be about that woman.
Why the hell would a publisher take her on?

SparklyRedZebra · 07/12/2025 14:20

Couldn’t agree more OP. Watch this thread magically disappear though, it’s a topic that can’t be spoken about here. Money obviously talks.

MincePudding · 07/12/2025 14:21

Yanbu. I got rid of her books because it made me think of him and child abuse which wasn't very jolly.

I also have the ick for sentences like: "you would just eat it, no?"

Because one of her books used it a lot and i can't disassociate from it. I know that's a me problem but even so. How you could ever want to move past what he did is beyond me.

It'll no doubt come back to haunt her when her daughter has a kid and she feels repulsed by her mother's poor judgement because I think even putting aside access to a grandchild, she will come to judge her mother so harshly that their relationship will breakdown.

MouseCheese87 · 07/12/2025 14:23

Never heard of her or know anything about her but based off what you've said, hard agree. Sounds revolting.

Trees6 · 07/12/2025 14:25

Are they definitely still together? Did she make a statement at the time?

Bigearringsbigsmile · 07/12/2025 14:31

Her daughter has special needs. She went to live with her father so that india could carry on living with the abuser.

Decemberweeds · 07/12/2025 14:33

I’ve seen her novels and writing in newspapers in the years since his conviction and wondered how she still has a career but this - a book on what makes a house a home written by a woman who lives with a convicted sex offender who watched children being abused - is beyond a joke.

I believe they’re still together, yes. I don’t think she has ever made a statement.

Jesus. So not only has she stayed with him but she chose him over her daughter.

She must know where the bodies are buried or else surely she’d have been ditched by now.

She's said her daughter won't be able to have children, due to her disabilities. The two sons might though...

She's still at the Times because her stepfather's something high up there.

She's been mentioning her partner quite a lot lately, so presumably still with him.

Simonjt · 07/12/2025 14:41

A surprising number of people don’t seem to be bothered about CSA unless it involves their own children and the abuser isn’t a family member. So sadly it doesn’t surprise me.

DeathBanana · 07/12/2025 14:42

He’s a violent thug as well as an abuser of children. India is incredibly well connected. Although I’d like to believe she is coerced and scared to leave I find it very difficult.

  • House of Commons bar brawl (2012): Joyce pleaded guilty to four counts of common assault after a drunken fracas in the Strangers' Bar. He headbutted Conservative MP Stuart Andrew and punched Labour whip Phil Wilson and two Tory councillors, Luke Mackenzie and Ben Maney. Witnesses said he was singing loudly and lashed out, declaring there were "too many f*ing Tories in here".
  • Shop incident (2014): Joyce was found guilty of an "unjustified and unprovoked" assault on two teenage boys in a shop. He knocked one teenager to the floor and elbowed the other, telling the boy on the floor he was going to "assault" him. He claimed he was attempting a citizen's arrest.
  • Edinburgh Airport (2013):He pleaded guilty to a charge of breach of the peace after being "threatening and abusive" to airport staff and police when he was not allowed to retrieve a mislaid phone from a plane.
Itiswhysofew · 07/12/2025 14:42

Theyre still together.

He's been arrested numerous times. Done for violently attacking other MPs. Done for driving over the limit. As well as the video of child abuse he said he'd been sent, he did admit to searching for images online as well. I believe he had a relationship with a 17 year old girl.

Why is she with him? How does she reconcile that?

Don't think that's true - there's been a thread on her before and it's still up.

Glowingup · 07/12/2025 14:47

YANBU. Really grim but I know of someone who did similar. She married and had a baby with someone convicted for the most serious category of producing images of child sexual abuse. She stayed with him and I doubt very much her middle class friends knew of her DH’s background. They are now divorced but she was with him for years following his conviction. Some women are truly desperate.

Elle771 · 07/12/2025 14:47

Had to Google her but sounds vile hope she sells absolutely nothing

Tinselisthestrategy · 07/12/2025 14:49

YANBU, I can never quite believe she still has her columns, wittering away being jolly hockey sticks about everything. It tells you everything you need to know about the moral compass of the media; money and connections talk. I didn't know that her daughter had to go and live with her dad so that she could stay with the paedophile. Sickening, I'm glad the daughter was kept as safe as possible though.

Ponoka7 · 07/12/2025 14:49

The monied class don't give a shit about pedophilia and trafficking. They become horrified at a WC or person of colour joining the ranks, but a bit of child abuse is forgivable. Let's stop pretending otherwise. The house of Lords is quite scummy.

tramtracks · 07/12/2025 14:50

IK’s father is Andrew Knight. Ex Chair of News Corporation, ex chair of Times Newspapers etc etc. Was a right hand man to Rupert Murdoch.

It ‘could’ be a reason why the press coverage of Eric Joyce is v subdued.

He has had difficulties with drink etc but I just don’t see that as being justifiable for accessing child pornography using software to try and hide this.

That and multiple convictions/incidents involving violence/headbutting MPs, teenagers and aggression towards police.

Sounds utterly charming.

Given the type of man he clearly is, the chances of her not being abused by him are probably incredibly low.

FateAmenableToChange · 07/12/2025 14:53

Birds of a feather I suppose.

PlazaAthenee · 07/12/2025 14:53

Because she's wealthy and has family links to the press.

I agree that he's probably a total asshole to her.
