Have had some great ideas in the past and as is this one of the busier forums, thought I’d post here).

DS (19) finished college this year and has just got himself a full time job. He can drive and has a car, so we’re going to give him money as his main present. This will help towards car maintenance and to buy himself a few treats.

Will still want to buy him some bits to open, new soft PJ bottoms always go down well, so they’re on the list, a bottle of Dead Man’s Finger’s rum, chocolates, maybe a new beanie hat, boxers.

Any of your suggestions and gift ideas greatly appreciated.

I’m a fan of independence so I recommend the Gerber shard

I’m following this looking for inspiration too, just need a couple of tree presents so he has something to open Christmas Day

ill tell you what I have for him so far -

you say he has a car, how about a car clean kit or vacuum?

my DS likes deadman finger too so he has a bottle of that too

some after shave he likes

sweets

popcorn machine

band tshirt

cover for his ipad

Does he have a favourite tv show? You could perhaps get him something linked to that, for example a Game of Thrones keyring, or if he likes board games, Game of Thrones monopoly.

Or bit and pieces for his car, such as a set of spare bulbs.

hazelnutvanillalatte · 29/11/2025 15:30

I think those sound like good substantial stocking fillers, and the rest can be cute novelty Christmas items. Poundland have funny novelty stocking stuffers.

Then just nice essentials - Socks. Phone charger. Wallet. Nice coffee/hot chocolate.

ElsaLing · 29/11/2025 15:33

Does he have AirPods? I've got an AirPod cleaning kit for each of my DS for their stockings.

Itsrainingatlast · 29/11/2025 15:36

Is he a gym bro? I’ve bought my boys the whey protein sample pack, new protein shakers and a tub of snickers whey protein each as stocking fillers. Great Black Friday deals today. Edited to add from MyProtein.

Tarteaucitronmerinquee · 29/11/2025 15:36

Nice toiletries. Does he play a sport? Something linked to that maybe? Or a football team if he follows one( my son got his brother the Liverpool dressing gown last year and it was a huge hit)

Some great suggestions so far, thank you.

We’re just heading off into town for a bite to eat, so I’ll come back to this thread later.

He doesn’t play sport but does go to the gym, so the Whey protein is something I’ll definitely loom into. He does need to keep on top of tidying his car, so a good car vacuum might also go on the list.

Mine is getting various chocolate/sweets, a beard trimming apron, guitar strings, Greggs gift card, replacement toothbrush heads and socks

BlueMum16 · 29/11/2025 15:54

We got DS a candy floss machine last year. He absolutely loved it. It was only about 15-20£ on Amazon.

Following for more ideas.

Aftershave
Sweets/Chocolate
Weird book of weird facts
Xbox token
Silly game - hoop antlers etc
Keyring from film franchise
Dubious flavoured jelly beans

The best stocking filler I bought my son was from Mankind. A spider catcher. It's a handle on a long pole, with a brush on the end. Pull the handle and the brush opens, position over spider and let go, the brush closes, trapping the spider until you can get to a window and release it.

5 years on it is still used, albeit sellotaped together after DS got carried away once and the whole thing went out the upstairs window, not just the spider.

Insulated coffee mug, small phone battery (the type that doesn’t need a lead, just slots into the phone), a really good ice scraper for the car.

ChocolateSardine · 29/11/2025 17:00

A car bin. Very underrated but very useful. Shower gel. Hot chocolate stirrer. A magazine on a subject that he's interested in.
