Have had some great ideas in the past and as is this one of the busier forums, thought I’d post here).

DS (19) finished college this year and has just got himself a full time job. He can drive and has a car, so we’re going to give him money as his main present. This will help towards car maintenance and to buy himself a few treats.

Will still want to buy him some bits to open, new soft PJ bottoms always go down well, so they’re on the list, a bottle of Dead Man’s Finger’s rum, chocolates, maybe a new beanie hat, boxers.

Any of your suggestions and gift ideas greatly appreciated.

A shasibo cube! They are so clever and really fun to play with. I got one for my Dad on Christmas day and everyone was passing it round to have a go.

Are you in the UK and if so where did you get this from? I’ve tried Amazon but it says it’s not available to be shipped to my location (UK)

@thecows,he is my wonderful foster son who has had a very deprived life before he came into my care. He has had a difficult life and now I can make his life happier.......so I do.

That is so lovely @caringcarer. How lucky for him that you came into his life.

On the back of this thread I've just ordered two from Amazon that arrive tomorrow and I'm UK. They look great!

I tend to get practical bits so my husband doesn’t have to buy them through the year, so for example lush chocolate body wash, lip balm, hair stuff etc so the bulk is things he uses everyday.

Then I put in a few actual little presents, but nothing too expensive, so a mani pedi voucher (he can’t cut his own, he isn’t into Cynthia Erivo style nails 🤣), a bracelet he’s been after, event ticket and some custom made gloves.

Like a PP says, car lights bulbs (if it doesn't have the LED type lights). He should keep them in the car so if he gets stopped because a light's not working, he can quickly change it for a fresh one. Nice little stocking filler!

Key fobs for his keys, can of de-icer, microfibre cloths for the inside windscreen, the emergency help aids like the seat belt cutter and window hammer, mini first aid kit, the Top Trumps of countrywide service stations.

We really love the pilot car air fresheners that go in the air vents, different animal pilots available: like this

We bought ours from Amazon and am in the UK- are you in an unusual area? I don't know why it would say that. Some are on eBay but they are cheaper on Amazon because of Black Friday. I wouldn't get a reproduction style 'magic cube' one- the joins on the Shashibo are very strong when you manipulate them- I would worry about a cheaper one tearing.

cans of cocktails
survival straw (he hikes/wild camps)
waterproof socks
a drinks coaster in a design that's relevant to him
bamboo cotton buds

Thanks @Mummyoflittledragon and others. I followed the link posted and managed to order 7 a couple.
I originally googled and followed the shop link on the official website which took me to Amazon but I couldn’t then order.
No problems once I followed the link suggested above.

Car cleaning bits, car wash, air freshener, breakdown membership?
Toiletries maybe slightly fancier than usual ones.
Wallet

A car bin. Very underrated but very useful. Shower gel. Hot chocolate stirrer. A magazine on a subject that he's interested in.

And car air freshers. You can get some cool ones from surf shops etc

SweetnsourNZ · 19/12/2025 07:27

Steering wheel clamp, jumper leads. Got these for my son one Christmas and he does use them. Car fire extinguisher. Maybe a toolbox and add a new tool to it every year. Have done this with mine and by the time they leave home they have the basics like Allen key, hammer and screwdrivers.

My 19 year old is a total hippy so I've got him stuff like an incense holder with a Buddha figure on it and incense sticks, candles, a curry kit from spice pots, and toiletries. Last year it was random Buddhist musical instruments

Oneborneverydecade · 19/12/2025 07:48

My 19yo DS has Boot Bananas, Zara aftershave, hair products, a Harvester giftcard, some Nandos sauces, Smile toothpaste and sweets/chocolates so far.
Some car care would be good though, I guess I'm off to Halfords!

Sparrow7 · 19/12/2025 07:48

For extra bits to fill up my teens stocking I went to a Chinese supermarket. Ramen packets, weird sweets, drinks and snacks
