People who drop loo roll on the floor in toilets

notedbiscuits · 22/11/2025 12:28

Whenever I use a toilet in a shopping centre, hospital etc, i regularly see loo roll on the floor. Why can’t people just pick these bits up and put them in the toilet? Obviously don’t wipe with these.

Do these people have loo roll around their toilet(s) at home? I doubt it!

Ditto hand towels.

I heard Amanda Holden on the radio saying how she tidies up when she’s in the loo, so it’s nice for the next people. He co presenter confirmed she’s seen her wiping down the tops etc.

I have been known to (using more tissue/hand towel to keep my hands clean) pick up after other people if it only takes a second, but I wouldn’t go as far as wiping down counter tops etc.

I feel sorry for cleaners, some people are disgusting these days.

Poppins2016 · 22/11/2025 14:45

I agree, I just don't understand it. I doubt people do it in their bathroom(s) at home.

Careera · 22/11/2025 14:47

I think it’s because anything in a public bathroom is automatically deemed gross, as in there might be residual piss on the floor so they don’t want to touch random loo roll on the floor as it isn’t clean.

soupyspoon · 22/11/2025 14:47

I frequently tear off a big clump of toilet paper, put it on the floor, scrunch it up under my shoe, wipe it around, then do another one because the floors are filthy and wet and I dont want my trousers to touch that once I take them down to sit on the loo

I dont pick those up, they're filthy and theres usually no bin in the cubicle anyway

Sometimes as I use a bit of loo paper in the normal way and go to chuck it in the loo, it falls outside the loo, I dont really want to touch that either to pick it up.

So a few times I am guilty of this.

Itbeginswith · 22/11/2025 14:52

I agree. I work in a school and was complaining about the state of our staff toilets just this week. Lots of toilet paper on the floor and skid marks in the toilet. Just pick up the paper and brush the toilets as you would in your own home!

YouDriveMeCrazyButICanDoThatMyself · 22/11/2025 14:58

@soupyspoon so you just create a mess, then leave it for some poor person -likely on NLW-to clear up after you. Nice.

You think the next person to use the cubicle wants to touch it? Or the cleaner? What happens if you drop loo paper on the floor at home? Do you leave it for someone else to clean up?

Chemenger · 22/11/2025 15:02

@soupyspoon good that you admit you leave a mess behind you. Has it ever occurred to you that you could wash your hands after cleaning up the mess you create?

FFS just deal with your shit the paper debris and then wash your hands…

LivingDeadGirlUK · 22/11/2025 15:07

I think this is from people who line the toilet seat with paper before sitting down, it falls on the floor when they get up and they are too scummy to pick it up.

Yes, but I dont 'touch' anything dirty in the loo, I use paper to touch everything but thats difficult to touch paper which is already dirty.

The loo is always much cleaner after Ive been in there, the floor is clean and dry, the rim of the loo is clean and dry. Its me who cleans up after other people, perhaps some people on this thread in fact. A few bits of loo paper which have been used to clean the floor shoved to the back of the cubicle with my foot, is better for the proper cleaner than having to step in god knows what on the floor before I got there.

Hollietree · 22/11/2025 15:07

Agree it’s revolting. Don’t get me started on the people who piss all over the seat. Firstly, I don’t understand how it’s possible to spray pee all over the place, even if you are hovering? Secondly, who thinks it’s acceptable for the next person to have to clean up someone else’s piss before they can go to the toilet themselves? How can you walk away knowing you are leaving your piss all over the seat?

Who are these people?????!!!!!

Chemenger · 22/11/2025 15:15

@soupyspoon you literally said that sometimes you drop the paper you use to wipe yourself with on the floor and don’t pick it up. How is this leaving the loo cleaner than when you went in?

SeaAndStars · 22/11/2025 15:19

I always tidy up after other people because I feel sorry for the poor cleaner who has to go in to a flipping bombsite of filth. It must be soul destroying work to leave it clean and then have people leave dirty wet paper and worse behind.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 22/11/2025 15:31

I've seen toilet roll, piss, poop and used sanitary products, usually blood-soaked tampons, in women's toilets. There are just no excuses for it, but people seem to be very good at finding them. I guess the idea is that because it's not their toilet and not their house, they know it'll all be cleaned up. But then I put those who think like that on par with those lazy bums that don't put their trolley back into the trolley bay/shed.

We used to be a civilised, clean, tidy and high-trust society. What happened?

Cornflakegirl7 · 22/11/2025 15:35

I developed a habit of doing this admittedly but I don't do it any more. I do have top think not to do it however, if that makes sense?

I once was staying at someone's house and noticed a tomato seed stuck to the loo roll. I could only reason that a tomato seed had extracted itself from someone's bum, and they'd then reached for more loo roll and somehow left it stuck to the remaining loo roll as they tore some off. For this reason I will never use the end part of the loo roll, reasoning hands that have already wiped bums may have touched it.

But then you wash your hands, so what exactly is the problem?

I can’t believe people trying to justify this.

It was more of an odd psychological thing.

And I didn't want loo roll touching my bum that someone else's hand that had just been up THEIR bum, had touched? Handwashing wouldn't recify that.

Okiedokie123 · 22/11/2025 17:25

@soupyspoon aren't you washing your hands a minute or so later? Making a mess to deal with someone else’s mess isn’t a solution.

IAmKerplunk · 22/11/2025 18:08

@soupyspoon just take some more (clean) toilet paper to pick up the bit you dropped on the floor and put in toilet. Flush. Then wash your hands. Don’t kick dirty tissue to the back of the cubicle!

Honestly, why are people so scuzzy?

I think this too. People who are germaphobes but don't give a shit about spreading their own germs around.

Yes - because they think their shit and piss is better than everyone else’s!

This has to be rage bait otherwise I think we have found an absolute scruff of society

Icecreamandcoffee · 22/11/2025 18:57

The germaphobes are the most vile users of public toilets IME. The hoverers who spray piss everywhere. The ones who flush the toilet and lock the door with their shoes. The nest builders who must build a nest of toilet roll to sit on the loo and then parts of said nest fall on the floor or they knock all the nest onto the floor when they have done because God forbid they interact with the toilet.

Barneysmomma · 22/11/2025 19:11

My department at work only has one loo & I've had to remind the team that the cleaner isn't our Mum so to pick up after themselves. Falls on deaf ears every time!😡
