People who drop loo roll on the floor in toilets

notedbiscuits · 22/11/2025 12:28

Whenever I use a toilet in a shopping centre, hospital etc, i regularly see loo roll on the floor. Why can’t people just pick these bits up and put them in the toilet? Obviously don’t wipe with these.

Do these people have loo roll around their toilet(s) at home? I doubt it!

I frequently tear off a big clump of toilet paper, put it on the floor, scrunch it up under my shoe, wipe it around, then do another one because the floors are filthy and wet and I dont want my trousers to touch that once I take them down to sit on the loo

I dont pick those up, they're filthy and theres usually no bin in the cubicle anyway

Sometimes as I use a bit of loo paper in the normal way and go to chuck it in the loo, it falls outside the loo, I dont really want to touch that either to pick it up.

So a few times I am guilty of this.

But you're going to wash your hands properly when you come out of the cubicle, so what's the issue?

I do turn Monica in loos in shops/airports etc, I always leave it nice if it was messed with bits of loo roll. And wipe down the area by the sinks. I'm going to wash my hands thoroughly afterwards, so why not?

I just don't understand this... you're saying it's not ok for you to pick up your disgusting mess, but it is ok for someone else (who happens to be a fellow human being with no more or less feelings about how disgusting it is than you have).

You think it's OK, because it's a cleaner? What if that cleaner was you, or your friend/sister/mother/daughter?

I have, on many occasions, picked up loo roll off the floor (using some folded loo roll as a decent barrier) and then flushed it down the loo because the floor looks so disgusting and I feel sorry for the poor cleaners who have to deal with it. If I can do it, so can you. Just pick up the tissue (with more tissue as a barrier) and flush it (no bin is not a good excuse, loo paper is flushable) once you've wiped the floor.

Are you for real? That is disgusting behaviour. All of it. And the irony of you saying there is no bin when you could FLUSH the paper down the toilet. Honestly you are revolting. Please make it your 2026 New Years Resolution to stop behaving like this.

seveneight · 22/11/2025 20:03

I always pick up other people's toilet paper off the floor after using the loo. I'm going to wash my hands anyway so don't consider it unhygienic, and I don't like leaving it a mess for the next person.

Until reading this thread I assumed any toilet paper on the floor had been dropped by accident. It never occurred to me people did it on purpose?! Shock

That is disgusting. You could use more paper to pick it up and throw it away. How can paper fall on the floor when you’re using it ?
presumably you wash your hands?

Cebello · 22/11/2025 21:29

There’s some twat at work who put a load of loo roll in the sanitary bin and because it’s light it doesn’t go into the bin, it just clogs up the bin meaning it is impossible for anyone who needs it to use it.
Just put the loo roll down the loo, you weirdo.
Honestly, if I ever find the people who do this I will happily kill them as it drives me mad.
The same cli lice with the blocked bins also have loads of loo roll on the floor. What on earth are they doing in there?

notedbiscuits · 23/11/2025 07:07

I get a wad of sheets and pick the dropped sheets on the floor. Then put them into the toilet including the wad.

I would like to know why people don’t flush. I have seen people’s poo left. I flush it and it works first attempt.

I was taught this flush after using when I was 3.

So YOU don’t want to pick up the paper you’ve wiped the floor with, yet you expect someone else to.

What a vile individual you are.

Here’s a thought. How about you just pick up after yourself like a decent member of society.
My friend is a cleaner and she has to deal with some awful things in toilets. Your post has made me very angry.

I agree. I work in a school and was complaining about the state of our staff toilets just this week. Lots of toilet paper on the floor and skid marks in the toilet. Just pick up the paper and brush the toilets as you would in your own home!

Brushes are not always provided though. I would never leave skid marks if a brush was provided though plenty of people do.

I think people flush with the lid down, which is fine, but then don’t bother to check that everything has gone.

Simonjt · 23/11/2025 07:19

@soupyspoon The fact you think throwing used toilet paper on the floor rather in the toilet, dry urine on a floor and toilet and filthy toilet paper in a difficult to reach place makes an area in anyway clean speaks volumes about your hygiene, or lack of. If you washed your hands you would put your toilet roll in the toilet, so you’re making the cubicle worse, subjecting the next person to your soiled toilet roll and then touching everything with dirty hands.

notedbiscuits · 23/11/2025 07:51

Most toilets don’t have lids on them. My current workplace and previous one didn’t have lids.

Nor does the shopping centre

I am still trying to workout where these spotless female toilets are that mn have told us about previously because male toilets are so gross

I am yet to see or hear about any clean toilets of either persuasion

Worralorra · 23/11/2025 08:17

I always clean up, as I don’t want the next person using the loo after me to think I’m a mucky pup!

Most motorway services toilets do, and my last workplace did.

IAmKerplunk · 22/11/2025 18:08

@soupyspoon just take some more (clean) toilet paper to pick up the bit you dropped on the floor and put in toilet. Flush. Then wash your hands. Don’t kick dirty tissue to the back of the cubicle!

Honestly, why are people so scuzzy?

I have tried that but its very difficult to pick paper up with paper in your fingers to protect your hand, I also have grip issues due to a disability in my hands so its better to push it to the back with my foot. Apart from the paper at the back of the loo the loo is always much cleaner after I have been in it.

Well I dont have gloves or a pick up stick, if I did, then I would

The problem with washing hands is if you have to touch the tap, then you havent got clean hands by the end of it, you cant touch the tap with paper because it just disintegrates. I touch nothing at all in toilets with my bare hands so if I cant grip it with paper in my hands then I dont touch it at all.

Of course if I go into a loo and the floor is clean and dry, theres no need for me to clean the floor, so there isnt any paper I leave on the floor. The loo roll doesnt always fall out my hands either, it depends on how my hands are behaving themselves.

Sorry you feel angry.

This is exactly the problem, the rest of society is wondering which antisocial idiot left the paper on the floor and you are congratulating yourself for leaving it cleaner. And because the behaviour is driven by anxiety you won’t be able to let go of the feeling of being right about this.

RightOnTheEdge · 23/11/2025 08:53

I'm not a cleaner but I work in hospitality and I have to do toilet checks every hour.
I absolutely hate the people who drop toilet paper all over the floor its so lazy and scummy.

@soupyspoon what you do is extremely selfish. You are not leaving it cleaner than you found it, you are adding extra work to people like me. You just make a hard day harder not to mention how absolutely disgusting it is to clean up! Do you think staff like me are beneath you? Or that you are far superior to cleaners so it doesn't matter if we have to clean up your vile mess?

Not flushing poo away is also horrible. I think that our toilets fill back up quite slowly so if they won't flush straight away people can't be bothered to wait.

Exactly. People like this think they are right but the reality is they are doing what is right for THEM.
A scruffy, selfish individual who purposefully leaves a mess for people she deems beneath her.

Nice to see their are others on here who today public loos. I thought I was a weirdo!
I don't wipe counter tops (unless it is me who has made a mess) but I tidy up dropped loo roll and paper towels

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 22/11/2025 15:31

I've seen toilet roll, piss, poop and used sanitary products, usually blood-soaked tampons, in women's toilets. There are just no excuses for it, but people seem to be very good at finding them. I guess the idea is that because it's not their toilet and not their house, they know it'll all be cleaned up. But then I put those who think like that on par with those lazy bums that don't put their trolley back into the trolley bay/shed.

We used to be a civilised, clean, tidy and high-trust society. What happened?

Edited

Ths shoppjng trolley leavers are the worst of the worst.

Gasbox · 23/11/2025 09:40

I'm a cleaner in a commercial/public building and the loo roll thing drives me mad, just why?!! There are toilet brushes in every cubicle, and signs to ask users to please leave the cubicle as they found it but still people leave skid marks and mess everywhere, I genuinely don't get it when they presumably wouldn't leave their own toilet in that state Confused I clean a variety of toilets across the site, some used by workers in fairly 'industrial' jobs and some by workers in 'posh' offices, guess which are the worst? The office loos are always awful, including one cubicle where someone regularly (somehow!) cakes the toilet brush in wet loo roll (and god knows what else!) and then leaves it in the holder to dry to a hard lump, which is lots of fun for me to remove the next morning 🙄 People's toilet habits are a constant source of bemusement for me and I often wonder what their toilets at home must look like!
