To say that women look bloody weird ….

.. when the only part of their face that moves is their mouth and eyes.

And don’t get me started on the massive fish lips.

Never see any naturally beautiful young women on TV these days. Such a shame

I was fearing for my safety for a while there!
I haven’t noticed it so much with older male celebrities and I guess it seems more of a pity when young people feel the need to mess with their youthful beauty.

You haven’t noticed the appearance of the older men because you’re too busy focussing on the appearance of the younger women.

The Patriarchy thanks you for your service.

You know it's possible not to read something that you find distressing or annoying? Everyone judges one another, all the time, on everything. You just judged the OP on her thread and other people on their comments. It's the normal human condition to judge, we have always done it, and always will. It's an evolutionary thing, we notice weird looking people to keep us safe. They stand out, because they are not normal looking.

If OP was walking up to the woman and saying "You look like a freak" that would not be ok. If she was gossiping and titttering behind her back at work, that would not be ok.

But women are allowed to comment on things online and we will keep doing that. Hopefully a pornbot faced young woman will see the comments and think twice about making herself look weird.

More likely she will never see them and keep messing her face up to her heart's content.

Either way, no harm done.

Ok so how would I know that things were annoying if I didn’t read them in the first place!????

Your response is fixated on judgement and that we are judging all the time and I am naive to think otherwise.

I don’t have an issue with judgment and as you say, I am judging her. My issue is that she had singled women out using that misogynistic yardstick of looks. Why are men judged on behaviours and women on appearance, that’s the important part of this.

As others have said on here, people have played with their appearance for hundreds of years.

If you don’t want to look at Botoxed faces then look away.

Just noticed that @CherrieTomaties makes a habit of being spiteful and obnoxious on other threads too.

And you were talking about irony a few posts up?

CherrieTomaties · 21/11/2025 01:01

Maggiethecat · 21/11/2025 00:40

Genuine question @CherrieTomaties - you are very young and I wonder if you are ever concerned that you’ll increasingly want more and more done?
I’ve lines in my face that I sometimes think would be so much better filled in and erased but my fear is that it would lead me down a rabbit hole! I’m also happy that my face can animate and would hate to lose that.
I have a casual friend that I suspected had work done years ago but it’s progressed over time until I barely recognise her now but can understand how this can happen.

Personally I don’t think I’ll have anything else done in the near future. I keep up with polynucleotides under my eyes every 6ish months but apart from that I’m content with how I look.

I can see how others get addicted to getting more and more filler and treatments over time as well.

I think it’s ok to comment on why society puts this pressure on women & discussing that doesn’t automatically mean you are slagging off other women. Do posters think it shouldn’t be commented on?

The ones that bought into it really do as it makes them face the fact that not everyone sees their choices in a positive light, so they seek to shut down the discussion.

ADogAndHisTed · 21/11/2025 01:04

It’s not a look I would like for me and I do hate that girls and women feel some pressure to have these things done, but their body their choice and all that.

Lovelyview · 21/11/2025 00:12

This is so frustrating. What is 'better'? What are people seeing when they look at other people's faces? Why is a smooth, immobile face 'better' than one which shows personality, laughter, character. What is wrong with lines?

There's nothing wrong with lines, I was using better in terms of more attractive which is true to me. Personally I find laugh lines endearing and would never get nasolabial filler but forehead lines and 11s make people look cross. Men too, if that matters. For me it's like getting braces. I find teeth quirks attractive on other people but realise that is a niche so I like to have straight teeth, just like I would like smooth skin, a smooth forehead (botox won't entirely freeze your forehead, it depends on the units you get) and a nice fresh appearance.

CheezePleeze · 21/11/2025 01:43

CherrieTomaties · 21/11/2025 00:00

I’m 31, and have recently noticed my under eyes becoming a bit more “tired looking”, makeup doesn’t sit as nicely and looks a bit cakey as powder/concealer sits in my fine lines. I get under eye skin boosters to help with that, thus giving me plumper and more hydrated under eyes so my makeup now looks a dream.

I also get masseter Botox (to help with my bruxism/jaw grinding at night) it also slims down my face, which is amazing because I struggle with my weight fluctuating due to PCOS. Having a slimmer face makes me feel better about myself.

I’ve had dermal fillers in my jaw and chin, as I have an overbite which gives me a receding jawline. With the filler, it’s added some definition and given a nice shape to my face. I feel like I’m the best I’ve ever looked.

I also get my nails done, eyebrows tinted and waxed, wear lash extensions from time to time, wear fake tan (because I’m so pale people ask me if I’m ill or iron deficient when I’m not wearing it). Why? Because I want to. Because it’s no one else’s business what I do with my appearance. I have lots of friends, a large family and partner who love me. None of the people in my life would refer to me as “fake”.

Why wouldn’t they refer to your fake looks as fake? 😳

They surely must look back on photos of the natural you before all the fake stuff and think OMG?

somethingbeginningwithb · 21/11/2025 01:49

Why not let every woman do what makes her feel great?

I love Botox, polynucleotides, and HIFU facelifts - when I look in the mirror, I feel like the best version of myself - not fake or frozen, but refreshed and radiant.

Aesthetics, when done well, enhance natural beauty, rather than distort it.

askmenow · 21/11/2025 02:23

When I look at those alien faces, I see insecurity. Their neediness is so sad.

Granted if they’re in the public eye, their livelihood may depend on smoothing every facial line.

Nope, my perfectly rational response fixated on nothing, though you are fixated on a standard, uncontroversial conversation.

Yep, you are defnitively naive to think people don't judge all the time about everything.

There's nothing remotely misogynistic about pointing out if a woman looks like pornbot space alien, if I see a man who looks like a pornbot space alien (rare but it does happen) I will happily comment on that too.

Perfectly happy to look at pornbot space alien faces and comment on them, they're freakily interesting, so I will just keep doing that.

Yup. If you look fake and weird, people will notice, some will comment. Them's the breaks.

Oh yay, this thread again. Let's all have a great time bashing other women for doing things to their own face that don't impact us in any way! Woo!

In this case I think that we should highlight how unnatural this looks. It’s pushed by capitalism creating insecurities about normal faces for profit.

thankgoditssaturday · 21/11/2025 02:45

I agree. There’s some weird psychological body dysmorphia that’s going on that they think that they look amazing whereas all I see is puffiness and a mask like appearance. It’s all very odd tbh.

OwlBeThere · 21/11/2025 02:55

Justacigarette · 21/11/2025 00:30

Can I ask why you say “mind your business” rather than “mind your own business”. I had never heard “mind your business” until recently and thought it was just an Americanism

I don’t know, That’s what we say where I live. Always has been at least since I was a child. Could be because in Welsh we would say it that way?

BatshitOutofHell · 21/11/2025 02:55

Yes it is awful for us to comment on women’s faces on a public forum but I have to say this and hope the person involved does not read this post or is immune to judgement like this because they are used to it because of being in the public eye.

I caught an episode of Graham Norton where Amanda Holden was the guest. I have always thought that she looks really great in her fifties and she does, but on that show you can see that she has had something done to her face and it looks bloody weird. It looks like her head is a bit too big for her body and there is a slightly plastic look to her face, which doesn’t move at all. She looks like the original Lady Penelope from Thunderbirds. What would she look like if she aged naturally? If she did I guess that would be another talking point so she can’t win. Sorry Amanda. You look great - just a bit like a Supermarionation puppet.

I think the insecurity thing is why we should call it out. We are all being given the message that we should get rid of any signs of ageing as soon as they appear. So what these people do does affect us. We don’t all want to mess with our bodies and faces.

It's not remotely awful. Walking up to a stranger and saying "Wow, you look like a total freak" would be awful. Commenting on a gross fad that makes women look like pornbot space aliens on an agony aunt type website is perfectly acceptable.

Hopefully one of the alien faced women will read this and rethink their terrible choices.

The reality is though, even if they do read it, they won't realise anyone is talking about them. You have to have a massive disconnect with reality to have the frozen face scary filler pufferfish look and be happy with it.

There's no chance any of the weird faced ones would read this, or believe it applied to them if they did.

wineosaurusrex · 21/11/2025 04:04

These posts make me laugh - I feel like there is a bit of bitterness and jealousy going on here.

People who haven't had work done always sat they hate it until they get it done themselves and realise they look 15 years younger and glowing and healthy.

Its like with weight loss - so few people are happy for their friend when they lose a lot of weight and look amazing! Often bitter and jealous.

Confident women dont feel the need to bring other women down. If you're so happy without fillers or botox then dont get them, but don't critisise women who do.

Its always the people WITHOUT botox etc who criticise those who have it. Never women WITH botox etc telling other women their skin looks awful. So it seems obvious who is the happy, confident group here!

Ooh, maybe they're one of the scary alien faced women and this thread has struck a nerve. That's great, if so, we've done them a favour. If not, yeah it's a bizarre over reaction to a completely average opinion and pretty uncontroversial discussion.

It's desperately misogynistic and abusive to accuse women of being jealous for having opinions that trigger you. It's very much an Andrew Tate sort of comment to make up imaginary motivations whenever a woman dares speak words that you dislike.

Amazingly enough, all throughout history, women have been able to dislike or judge negatively other women without feeling even the tiniest bit of jealousy.

I have found though, that women who are desperate for attention and have made a real arse of themselves in some way (like maybe paying to have a freaky space alien face and ruining their normal face) will shout yOuRe sO jEaLoUs when the reality is they engender pity, disgust, curiosity or fear - never jealousy.

And nope, we're talking about the freaky faced pornbot space aliens. Nobody is repulsed or weirded out by a little bit of good, natural looking work, done well.

But you already know that :)

I know! Thankfully, the majority seem to understand the point I am making so I can cope with the minority rabid responses 🤣🤣

I mean, to be fair you posted this in AIBU and asked the question..? Some posters think you are. They are answering the question YOU asked. If you just wanted people to not have differing opinions, then don’t ask in AIBU and then get pissed off when some say that you are.

Lilacblu · 21/11/2025 04:24

There's a well known soap character who had a naturaly nice face... has now had so much filler.. botox... her naturally nice face is no more.. I'm not being bitchy I just think it's sad this is going on.
