To say that women look bloody weird ….

GoingbackwardsForwards · 20/11/2025 22:00

.. when the only part of their face that moves is their mouth and eyes.

And don’t get me started on the massive fish lips.

Never see any naturally beautiful young women on TV these days. Such a shame

How is it anymore bizarre vs all the other threads on MNs?

Well if I’m being honest I think most threads are bizarre.

Bashed their “mental health”. Deary me 😂

I’ll happily bash anyone who refers to other women as “bloody weird” looking and calling them “fish lips” it’s derogatory and completely shows what kind of horrible person they are.

I haven’t used fish lips personally. You labelled people insecure etc for having an opinion on why young people feel pressure to inject themselves, go under the knife etc. It’s ok to discuss it.

hehehesorry · 21/11/2025 00:09

I don't think women are more beautiful in their nature state, unless they get botched then yes. Women in their 20s can look a bit strange with tweaks(again, their choice though) but older women definitely look better when they have work done - mainly forehead botox, chemical peels and eyelids. Women without work done can still be attractive but women with work done well just look better.

This is so frustrating. What is 'better'? What are people seeing when they look at other people's faces? Why is a smooth, immobile face 'better' than one which shows personality, laughter, character. What is wrong with lines?

Oh, the irony

I agree with that poster. What is ironic exactly? Your OP is nasty tbh

There are ways of discussing it without being nasty. I agree with you actually, but the way OP thought she was being original and funny making fun of young women who feel pressured into undergoing cosmetic procedures is disgusting tbh

Jewel52 · 21/11/2025 00:17

Lovelyview · 21/11/2025 00:08

A lot of people are genuinely baffled about why someone would do this to their face. That's all.

But it’s not “someone”. Is it? This op has gone after women specifically. Women judging each other again. She’s interested in evaluating the attractiveness of other women on tv and being comforted that they’re no threat because they’re “weird” and artificial.

Insecurity.

bottledboot · 21/11/2025 00:22

@OneWiseAmberOP I didn’t see anything disgusting. Fish lips may not be the nicest term but we all know what is means, not everyone with lip filler goes for that look.

I think it’s far more disgusting younger people are being put under this pressure, it’s expensive & potentially dangerous.

Where did I say you used ‘fish lips’ personally?

I’m referring to the OP. I’ll happily bash her personality for describing women as “bloody weird” looking with “fish lips” which she said in the original post. Using derogatory language about other people’s looks absolutely screams insecurity to me.

I get the message that the OP is trying to convey, but to use insults absolutely loses her any credibility for a normal discussion. She started a thread to goad, no questions about it.

I’m 31, and have recently noticed my under eyes becoming a bit more “tired looking”, makeup doesn’t sit as nicely and looks a bit cakey as powder/concealer sits in my fine lines. I get under eye skin boosters to help with that, thus giving me plumper and more hydrated under eyes so my makeup now looks a dream.

I also get masseter Botox (to help with my bruxism/jaw grinding at night) it also slims down my face, which is amazing because I struggle with my weight fluctuating due to PCOS. Having a slimmer face makes me feel better about myself.

I’ve had dermal fillers in my jaw and chin, as I have an overbite which gives me a receding jawline. With the filler, it’s added some definition and given a nice shape to my face. I feel like I’m the best I’ve ever looked.

I also get my nails done, eyebrows tinted and waxed, wear lash extensions from time to time, wear fake tan (because I’m so pale people ask me if I’m ill or iron deficient when I’m not wearing it). Why? Because I want to. Because it’s no one else’s business what I do with my appearance. I have lots of friends, a large family and partner who love me. None of the people in my life would refer to me as “fake”.

So it is no one else's business that you fake your looks so you look a certain way you have decided for other people to see you as? so if it is no else's business why on earth do it? unless you stand in front a mirror all day staring at yourself the whole thing is for other people

bottledboot · 21/11/2025 00:26

I never said you did.

How would you prefer the OP to describe people with too much filler etc? I think some people do look weird, can we not acknowledge that?

I’m sorry you have taken it so personally @CherrieTomaties. Are you feeling insecure about the extensive work you have had done, I wonder?

I suppose it’s more do unto others as you’d have them do to you. You’re happy and comfortable judging others’ appearances. So as you’d understand - you’ll be happy to let others judge yours. So let us see the face of perfection..

My take isn’t that the OP thinks of themselves as an example of perfection. I think the point that @GoingbackwardsForwards was making was that we live in a society where there is significant pressure to look a certain way and the normalisation of procedures like Botox etc is worrying and damaging. Asking to see the poster’s face and suggesting that they themselves are unlikely perfect only reinforces the idea that women’s primary value lies in how they look. It also means a missed opportunity to have meaningful discussion about the trends we’re seeing in cosmetic procedures, particularly non-invasive ones.

Women are allowed to comment on the effects of plastic surgery, which often look unusual at best, with concern and even horror at the norms this promotes. This can be done without unpleasantness towards individual women while being an important observation about culture and society.

Maggiethecat · 21/11/2025 00:28

GoingbackwardsForwards · 21/11/2025 00:11

Don’t you think that women whose faces are so frozen that they can only move their eyes and their mouths do look bloody weird then?

Whereas I am concerned about the potential harm that women, especially young women, are doing to themselves I do find that your later posts have taken on an unpleasant and goady tone.
Some posters have managed to express the concern, about societal pressures and unscrupulous practitioners helping to drive the uptake of procedures, without denigrating these women.

Oh its really not extensive. You’re completely misguided if you think polynucleotides and masseter Botox (courtesy of the NHS) is “extensive work”.

No need to apologise though, it’s all good😘

Justacigarette · 21/11/2025 00:30

OwlBeThere · 20/11/2025 22:04

There are tons of non-botoxed women on tv. Yes there are some who do, but it’s their face. Mind your business,

Can I ask why you say “mind your business” rather than “mind your own business”. I had never heard “mind your business” until recently and thought it was just an Americanism

I though a very natural appearing Victoria Beckham looked though not sounded bloody fantastic sitting on that sofa yowling away with Cruz the other day.

She’s had a facelift recently

Genuine question @CherrieTomaties - you are very young and I wonder if you are ever concerned that you’ll increasingly want more and more done?
I’ve lines in my face that I sometimes think would be so much better filled in and erased but my fear is that it would lead me down a rabbit hole! I’m also happy that my face can animate and would hate to lose that.
I have a casual friend that I suspected had work done years ago but it’s progressed over time until I barely recognise her now but can understand how this can happen.

Indeed full of sense..hear hear! Why are women so nasty to other women? Isn't life hard enough already? 🤷

Salvadoridory · 21/11/2025 00:55

I have shit loads of work, I couldn't care less what anyone says. I used to be fat, old and miserable and now Im skinny and successful and look how I want. First impressions are important and dont underestimate how, like the judgy harlots on here, drab, bitter women get snap judged at work and by strangers in shops just as commonly. Can I have extra points for having had surgery as well as injections..I defy most people to have blepheroplasy or neck surgery under local 😅
