To say that women look bloody weird ….

GoingbackwardsForwards · 20/11/2025 22:00

.. when the only part of their face that moves is their mouth and eyes.

And don’t get me started on the massive fish lips.

Never see any naturally beautiful young women on TV these days. Such a shame

I wasn't asking you to speak for all women, I was asking your opinion, never mind.

I don’t have an opinion on all women. I think it’s too complex. Sometimes we can recognise when our opinion on something we have no knowledge about would add no value. I’m sure there’s something you’d like me to say to prove your point though.

You are literally part of the problem- can you not see that? your attitude towards other women is vile.

I'm not interested in an ass-backwards argument over how Plastic Surgery Is Feminist, Actually so I'll bow out of this one.

Agree. I get botox - have done since I hit 40. I am not going to stop because I like the way it makes me look. Me. I care about my opinion of my face. Its for me and I dont care what anyone else thinks.

Insulting me and calling me weird isnt going to suddenly make me stop doing it 🤣.

I am happy to have a civil discussion about it and the societal consequences of cosmetic procedures being in the mainstream in general as I think its an important discussion, but being called nasty things- "weird" and "plastic"? nah you can fuck right off, not engaging with that kind of rude bullshittery.

But people are allowed to have an opinion generally on what fillers and botox look like on other people. If someone looks at you they may well think you look weird and unnatural and that's fine. Humans can tell what is real usually. But telling you to your face is obviously not on and I hope no one ever has.

An industry that promotes the idea that we need to change ourselves to be acceptable is more vile.

Why join in if you have no opinion?

Because I was sharing my personal experience and feelings about the thread. Not my opinion on the whole of womankind and plastic surgery/tweakments.

Goldengirl123 · 21/11/2025 08:06

I agree with you 100%. I hate the duck lips (when they just get the top done) and the trout pout. What on earth do they not see when they look in the mirror???

I've no answer for that, but I do think it's all in one's mind. My mother used to look in the mirror and only see all her faults. She couldn't see her good features. She just saw flaws and thought she was ugly, although she wasn't. I suspect had plastic surgery been around then she might have been tempted. She'd have looked in the mirror and thought it was an improvement.

If you felt the need to share an opinion about the thread, then you've undoubtedly got an opinion on the topic too. However, as previously stated, nevermind.

Of course people are allowed opinions but there is a huge difference between insulting people and expressing an opinion on plastic surgery in general. Noone has ever told me I look weird, quite the opposite actually 😉

Why have you felt compelled to get all your work done, honestly?

I was spectacularly unattractive until I started earning enough to do something about it. Not slightly awkward, but full on school and uni level bullying material, I was literally the prime target for pigging. And if you're old enough, you may well have seen me turned into a viral meme from an awful photo years ago (thankfully it eventually died out).

I wanted to be a mother, but I couldn't even manage to land a one-night stand. That's the scale we're talking about.

I wasn't interested in being a Roald Dahl moral lesson about "beauty on the inside". I wanted men to look at me and want me. And now they do. I've still kissed my share of frogs, but I've also had some genuinely good relationships with amazing men who wouldn't have given me a second glance before.

FlyMeSomewhere · 21/11/2025 08:28

CherrieTomaties · 20/11/2025 23:31

Agree!

It’s only the bitterly insecure and unhappy people who feel the need to comment on other people’s appearances.

(They’ll try and disguise it as “oh I’m only concerned for the younger generation who are influenced to get treatments” but they don’t give a shit. They bash other women and belittle them to feel a bit better about their pathetic selves).

Have you got large lips by any chance? I'm not insecure! I have Botox done at times in a small amount in my lips and I only ever have collagen injections under my eyes! It's not about being bitterly insecure! People are questioning why people let bad aestheticians deform their faces and how do aestheticians get away with it, just like how does Katie Prices surgeons get away with being allowed to keep giving her horrifically deformative surgeries and putting her life at risk from all the anesthetics? That makes us decent and right minded doesn't it? Like I said about Pete Burns, they absolutely fucked his lips up and put him through hell for years that probably lead to his premature death!

Also as a woman who has had to fight to build a career I hate to see women like swollen faced platypuses because I think "how are they going to be taken seriously" walking into an interview looking like that!

TangoWhiskeyAlphaTango1 · 21/11/2025 08:29

Nasty nasty thread designed to put women down and make them feel shit about themselves. Does not surprise me but is still so disappointing. I am sure you look wonderful yourself OP, are 100% happy with your looks and your body? If so good for you but there are many who aren't. Leave them be and get on with your own life eh?

SpaceRaccoon · 21/11/2025 08:30

lastones · 21/11/2025 08:09

There must be a word for that thing where people line up to tell women what they should do, how they should feel about their own bodies, and how they're allowed to spend their own money they earned... all so they can be good, obedient girls. It's on the tip of my tongue. Miso-something, wasn't it? Sounds like a lovely Japanese soup, but I'm fairly sure it isn't.

It's absolutely fine to discuss the societal impact of beauty trends on women and girls.

Are you always this belligerent when people don’t do what you tell them to do? I was sharing a personal account and this does not equate to having an opinion on other people’s personal motivations and behaviours. I have an opinion on the thread but that does not mean I have an opinion on why other women decide to have or to not have plastic surgery or tweakments, as I’ve already said, I think it’s complex. There we go. That’s my opinion. Do you not like it for some reason?

I'm sorry you felt so unattractive, and I'm glad you feel happier now. I honestly do still think you are fooling yourself if you think it all looks 100% natural though, just own the effort and time you've put in! Out of interest, did you look like the rest of your family before, and do you look like them now?

That's exactly how the cosmetic industry makes money.

So what have you had done that changed you, in your perception at least, from undateable?

I see many not conventionally good-looking women in relationships and what they have is confidence. That’s all you actually need.

I suppose it’s more do unto others as you’d have them do to you. You’re happy and comfortable judging others’ appearances. So as you’d understand - you’ll be happy to let others judge yours. So let us see the face of perfection..

You are getting increasingly aggressive.

Exactly.. It’s also absolutely fine to discuss the trend of women (and men) distorting their faces, which can be quite upsetting for other people.

Thats such a good point. And men are just as judgemental as women can be (if a man is doing the interview) and most of them profess to hate filler lips (whether they actually do is another matter...)

Good one. I'm judging the industries which promote the insecurity, not the women caught up in it, if you actually read anything I wrote.

As long as its personal choice though and not societal pressure. Which a lot of it appears to be. We need to encourage healthy self confidence in young women today and in this social media world teach them that appearance isn't the most important thing about them. Surely? Or have things changed so much since the 90s when I was in my 20s. Thank god we didn't have this carry on then. Life as a young person was so much more free. I blame mobiles for making us all examine our faces too much.

As long as humans keep reproducing and heterosexual men make up a large share of the population, physical appearance will matter for women. Maybe it's not the number one factor in every situation, but it's certainly in the top tier. Pretending otherwise feels disingenuous to me.

Yes, there is absolutely a real conversation to be had about social pressure, unrealistic beauty standards, confidence, comfort with aging and the body dysmorphia machine that social media has become. Those are important issues. But we can't have that discussion in some imaginary philosophical vacuum where being attractive doesn't give you a clear advantage in life as a woman - romantically, socially, or professionally. It does and it always has, from the stone age times perhaps. And acknowledging that reality is not the same as fully endorsing the pressures that come with it.
