Am I the only one? I can't smell weed!

To clarify, I don't do weed, never have so this isn't a case of habitation.

Everyone around me seems to be able to smell it, walking past certain houses or people in the street. They complain of the reek of weed. I can't smell a thing, not a whiff of anything!

In general my sense of smell is very good - I'm the most sensitive in my family to all other smells.

Is weed blindness (smellness?) a thing?

I can always smell it. I hate it, it's such a sweet, acrid smell. So strong. I'm amazed you can't smell it.

It's so weird! It's not that I can smell something, however faint, I just can't smell anything at all, just air. While everyone around me is saying how strong and horrible it is.

I can smell the mere-ist hint of a cigarette, but there's just a total absence when it's weed!

Sometimes but I quite like the smell compared to cigarette smoke which is foul.

I don't dislike the smell, but it is very noticeable (for me)

So do two of ours and the git downstairs stink permeates into our flat.

I can't smell it. Rather I don't know what it smells like but have been told by dh and dc that it's a very obvious smell.

Once was interviewing someone alongside a younger person- she said that the person we were speaking to stank of weed. I didn't realise this.

I work in housing for a LA & the amount of times I smell it yet my colleague is always adamant it’s not! I think she must be nose blind to it because I can sniff it a mile off.

I read about this recently some people can’t smell it. My neighbour smokes in his garden and it’s horrible. Luckily it doesnt come in the house. Nobody else here seems to notice.
The smell is everywhere where we live. I actually used to smoke it at Uni and I don’t remember the smell being bad I must have got more sensitive as I’ve got older.

I used to be like this! Then I tried it a few times many years ago, and now I can smell it instantly 😂 once you know you know, it's very distinct!

I wish I couldn’t smell it, it’s vile to me and I can smell it a mile off. It also gives me a thumping sore head, It’s came in handy in a previous job though! I was like a sniffer dog

You're lucky. It's everywhere now and the smell makes me gag.

Maybe I need to get hold of some myself to try and get to the bottom of this!

Confirmed. It’s definitely a thing. I have a very good sense of smell generally, but I can’t smell weed.

I also have a good sense of smell.

Quite pleased to have found out this is a thing and that I'm not just a niave innocent person.

Went to uni in the late '70s/early '80s.

Had a roommate in another country (year abroad) who smoked it. Couldn't smell it then.

I wonder if that’s why some weed smokers are adamant that it doesn’t cling to their clothes , if they genuinely can’t smell it . So odd though , literally on a par with fox pee type smell and not just while people are using it , but even if they are just passing by in clothes that have come into contact with it .

I have never tried weed but I am really sensitive to the smell. It drives me mad!
