I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I am freezing. Down to my bones. I have a heating pad under my jumper and a blanket on me and I finally feel warm for the first time this week.

I have ordered a hot water bottle but I don’t know what else I can do. I’m freezing. I’m on Mounjaro so I think it’s that, but I’m just so miserable.

Again, I am at work 😂 I can’t just take a break every hour.

Do you not go to the toilet or make a cup of tea or walk over to a printer or the stationery cupboard or walk over to a colleague rather than phone them etc? Those are just some of the things I do to ensure I don't sit for hours on end.

landlordhell · 20/11/2025 06:54

Hot drinks? Hot lunch?

GehenSieweiter · 20/11/2025 06:54

You seem to be refusing all the suggestions @ColdToesandWarmHeart, what sort of replies were you hoping for? If it's MJ related, and nothing works, could you stop that for now?

Hot drinks? Hot lunch?

I have soup with me today, and I drink coffee, but nothing seems to help. It’s like it’s embedded in me 🥲 I’ve woken up this morning, my bed was nice and cosy, but the second I’m out of bed I’m freezing again.

Yup, this is my first winter on MJ and the cold is a surprise. I'm in the north of Scotland too so you'd think I'd be used to it.

I'm full time in the office and my plan had been nice dresses, tights and boots but I'm too cold for that, even with decent office heating. I'm now in thicker trousers ( not wide legged as they leave my legs cold) and a thicker jumper. What has been invaluable though has been a proper wool cardigan. I get lovely hot sweats so need to be able to cool down quickly so a cardigan works and the wool is just amazingly thermal. I also make a point of getting up and walking every so often even if it's just to the printer, it definitely helps warm up a bit.

I’m phoning patients, not colleagues. I get up to the toilet every so often but that’s it, I can’t just take a break from my desk to run up and down the stairs

you need a merino wool base layer against the skin, something like this: https://uk.dilling.com/product/womens-merino-wool-leggings-fg-7536-0458-494

and then a big thick wool jumper.

there is nothing like 100 % wool in the cold.

Back in March when I started mounjaro, I was working in a retail chiller
I used to cry in pain as everything would feel frozen within minutes
Have changed to office type work but only allowed to wear a short sleeve t shirt, windows and doors left open in my work place 🙁 I'm so cold all of the time

Batmanisaplaceinturkey · 20/11/2025 07:00

You should be taking a screen break every hour or so. If you're sitting for hours you will feel colder. Drinking more water helps!

Owly11 · 20/11/2025 07:03

Wool, wool and more wool. Nothing else will do.

Is it possible to get wool for a decent price?

We haven't had time to adapt as it's gone from unseasonably warm to fecking freezing within 48 hours.
Heated gilet!

I agree re heated gilet.

Because I’m at work? I can’t get up from my desk every hour to just run up and down the stairs quickly

You need to get up every hour or your health will suffer anyway. Go to the toilet, make a cup of tea, get some printing?
I take calls and wear a headset but if my employer wants a healthy and productive employee then I'm not sitting down all day. My watch buzzes at me to get my 250 steps in every hour.

I layer up in the office, vest, knee high cosy walking socks, fleece liners in trainers and polo necks.

SharonEllis · 20/11/2025 07:18

You need to speak to your employer if they don't allow you to get up regularly.

Your manager thinks it's normal? Surely you need to question that. No need for martyrdom!

Yes and it lasts for decades, unlike acrylic.

SkipAd · 20/11/2025 07:20

There are loads of good recommendations on here.
I do think the Mounjaro has changed things for you (it has for my husband he came home last night saying he was the coldest he’d ever been) but what stood out for me is your heating at home.
As well as a cold office you are starting and ending the day in a cold environment as well. Two lots of 30 minutes heating when it is this cold outside isn’t going to cut it. Is there definitely nothing you can do about that.

Ericeric · 20/11/2025 07:23

ColdToesandWarmHeart · 19/11/2025 22:13

In an office, I don’t know. Bloody cold. It’s NHS, so the heating isn’t on anywhere near as much as you’d expect

Ask for a portable electric heater to be supplied.

Get an accurate temperature reading there are legal limits I think.

Occupational Health may help too.

Cheerfulcharlie · 20/11/2025 07:25

Wrist warmers, two pairs of socks, and boots that have a furry lining inside help me.

Somethingtosayagain · 20/11/2025 07:27

ColdToesandWarmHeart · 19/11/2025 22:18

I’m at work during the day, so no.

I would really think again about this one. Even a few minutes of movement helps. E.g. doing 10 squats (prob only takes 30sec). You may feel self conscious but it seems everyone has noticed that you're cold anyway. And, frankly, it's health and safety at this point. Or do it if you have a tea or loo break, it will increase your body temp for a good hour afterwards.

TiredGardener · 20/11/2025 07:27

Bedsocks ! I find fluffy ones good, if you wear leggings or trousers you can wear plain socks over them. Also wear them in bed, cosy toes all night !

Nothing at all. He won’t budge. He grew up without it and he doesn’t care about it. He will not use it for a prolonged period of time unless there is snow on the ground. He can afford it but just hates it

It's the joy of being slim.
Get a heater for under the desk, don’t worry about the bill. There is money wasted every day within the establishment, including bonuses to higher members of staff.
You freezing, taking some heat is not going to make a difference.
Ask you're boss to increase the temperature or your requesting a heater, use a doctors note if necessary.
