I’m on desserts this year.

I will be making

  • tiramisu
  • apple pie
  • lemon and blueberry cheesecake
  • possibly a Yule log but tbh I can take or leave cake as a pud (made it before and not sure it’s worth the effort even though there’s no denying it is good)

My personal favourite is sticky toffee pudding which I was going to do but in my mind it’s too similar to tiramisu ie stodgy

Probably only one really. Often find that nobody has room for dessert but might fancy a little later on . Fo you have many coming because that seems like a lot of choices .

UninitendedShark · 19/11/2025 18:46

Not Christmas pudding. The one from 2 years ago is still in the larder. I make a Yule log of some description every year. It was a Black Forest version last year but nobody was bothered about it until Boxing Day.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2025 18:48

I'm doing:

Christmas pudding
Chocolate cherry pudding
Baileys cheesecake

CakeFace1234 · 19/11/2025 18:50

NoWordForFluffy Baileys cheesecake sounds lovely. Have you got a good recipe or are you trying for the first time? I am doing a dessert for Christmas too, I have a request for a banoffee pie but maybe could try a Baileys cheesecake

Another request for the Baileys cheesecake recipe please!
Baileys is known as Christmas milk here!

WinterNightStars · 19/11/2025 18:53

It’s got to be Christmas pud & trifle

HermioneWeasley · 19/11/2025 18:58

I always make a Mont Blanc- basically layers of meringue, cream, chestnut and chocolate

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2025 20:43

@CakeFace1234 @Raera I'm doing an untried recipe. However, I did the same website's lemon one last year and it was divine! I have high hopes. 😋

TangoWhiskeyAlphaTango1 · 19/11/2025 20:49

Making? I buy what is on special in Tesco 😂

CakeFace1234 · 20/11/2025 10:01

Thanks for the recipes. I may try the Janespatisserie one as her choc fudge cake recipe is so good.

Worralorra · 20/11/2025 10:09

I will be making the following:

  1. A fruit crumble
  2. A chocolate Bailey’s mousse cake
  3. A lemon meringue pie
  4. A sherry trifle
…to be consumed between Christmas Eve and NYD along with the usual 36 mince pies
bridgetreilly · 20/11/2025 10:11

If your tiramisu is stodgy, you are doing it very wrong.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 20/11/2025 10:21

Baileys and sweet mincemeat Eton mess.

I buy ready to eat meringues, some nice ice cream, jar of mincemeat and some sort of whipped cream.... just pop it all in a nice glass,
possibly sprinkle a few nuts on top. Sometimes add a bit of crumbled mince pie or christmas cake. Very quick and I can just make it for whoever fancies it.

Also do a nice black forest version with boozy cherries and chocolate.

StewkeyBlue · 20/11/2025 10:51

Trifle (Xmas Eve)
Meringues with cream and mince pies (Xmas day lunch)
Christmas pudding with home made brandy sauce and cream (Christmas Dinner, which we have as an evening meal)

Surprisedcupcake · 20/11/2025 11:00

Chocolate mousse (with shop bought sorbet) and probably an apple crumble. We usually have dessert a few hours after Christmas lunch, on the sofa under a blanket while watching a movie.

Lifestooshort71 · 20/11/2025 11:15

I'm making the cheat's version of Platinum Jubilee trifle (being fruity, lots fancy it), a cheesecake (not Bailey's as too many seem to dislike the taste so prob a caramel/choc one) and an Eton mess with home made meringues. Also buying from M&S (I swore I wouldn't this year), large profiteroles, choc fir cones (they freeze beautifully and thaw quickly - spray a bit of edible glitter) and they've got a Rudolph reindeer thing that looked fun. We have 2 staying over for 3 days and I take pudds to S&DiL's Xmas Day. It will all be hoovered up!

BIWI · 20/11/2025 11:21

Sticky toffee pudding and (home-made) vanilla ice-cream on Christmas day. Simon Hopkinson recipe, which really isn’t stodgy!

Terry’s Chocolate Orange pots on Christmas eve. An Amy Sheppard recipe.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/11/2025 11:25

Homemade 🎄puds with brandy butter, and Delia’s Christmas dried fruit compote, which is always very popular. Dried apricots, figs, etc.,simmered in orange juice, a little spice. Quick and easy to make ahead, good for breakfast, too.

ContinuewithGoogle · 20/11/2025 11:28

Pavlova
fruit salad
Will buy a selection of individual cakes, around 2 per person, with chocolate cakes, Paris Brest, lemon tarts.. that kind of things

There's always an easy chocolate cake "for the kids" 😂

BrieAndChilli · 20/11/2025 11:53

I am going to do Christmas pudding (bought), and make a trifle and a chocolate orange cheesecake.
I am going to attempt to do baileys mousse pinecones for christmas eve.

Lifebeganat50 · 20/11/2025 11:55

Chocolate log (Delia’s recipe) and most likely a cheesecake or banoffee pie and a pavlova I think

ImFineItsAllFine · 20/11/2025 12:03

Trifle for Christmas Day - it's DHs family tradition but I will be the one making it this year! There'll only be 6 of us so not going to do any other desserts.

FurForksSake · 20/11/2025 12:04

I’ve bought the finch bakery brownie Yule log book, that will be made by dh as I’m on crutches for the foreseeable. Trifle. Birds. Out of a box. Decorated by the kids. And m&s pinecones.

magicstar1 · 20/11/2025 12:06

Trifle, Christmas pudding, toffee roulade for Christmas Day. We've been invited out for St. Stephen's Day so I'll bring a Dulce de Leche baked cheesecake for that.
