Is this dress considered ‘black tie’ enough - PART 2!

Hello!

Thank you to everyone who’s helped me with my black tie event dress scenario on my previous thread, It’s much appreciated.

I’ve taken all comments on board and tried something with a little less material as suggested. See the black dress below. ( sorry for the close crop of the photo!

What are your thoughts? Is this more suitable than the red (original dress in question)

I’m running out of time to find something as the event is next weekend so hoping this one is perhaps the better choice!

Thank you in advance! X

The red looks much better on you.

redtieorno · 19/11/2025 07:32

Ps. No makeup, bad lighting and messy hair in black dress photo 😅

I love the black dress. You look fab! In my opinion the red swamps you

Gentlydoesit2 · 19/11/2025 07:35

You look stunning in the black 👍🏼

WonderingWanda · 19/11/2025 07:36

The black dress is a millions times better!

Ivy888 · 19/11/2025 07:36

I just commented on the red dress. Hadn’t seen the update either the black dress. The black dress is lovely!

Sorry to confuse you! 😅 I wasn’t able to add any photos to my comments for some reason - maybe glitching!

But thank you so much! X

I love the black dress, it's less fussy and more elegant. You look fabulous.

moneytreeinmygarden · 19/11/2025 07:38

FAR prefer the black dress- the red dress has far too much unnecessary fabric and reminds me of a bandaged mummy (sorry). Also- the black is stunning on you

Justlostmybagel · 19/11/2025 07:39

You look incredible in the black dress!!

Booksandcheese · 19/11/2025 07:39

The black one looks stunning on you. Very elegant. Much, much better than the red.

ChampagneJen · 19/11/2025 07:42

Black one looks great! Though I also like the colour red on you. If only there was black style in red colour 🤣

I know! I NEVER wear any colour, always in black or dark because I’m still very self conscious! But the red colour I quite liked!

It might be the angle of the black dress photo, it looks like it’s been taken from the ground.

Which do you feel more comfortable in OP?

skippy67 · 19/11/2025 07:47

Black dress is much better on you. I think it's all been said about the red one😅

Ibizaonmymind · 19/11/2025 07:47

I prefer the black too. The red one is too fussy and too much fabric.

dementedpixie · 19/11/2025 07:48

Black is a billion times better than the red one

Swiftie1878 · 19/11/2025 07:49

Definitely BLACK!

Yes, I had to prop my phone on a chair and take the photo on a timer 🤣

Black is stunning talk about va va voom! The red just swamps you but is a beautiful colour on you

ThankULord · 19/11/2025 08:46

Not sure about the black dress.. is it zipped up? The upper part looks a bit loose.
Red dress looks like you are wearing a size or two too big and should be off shoulder otherwise it looks like it is swamping you.

The red is a lovely colour on you. The black is a nice style but your body language is coming across uncomfortable?

Go with the one you feel more comfortable in. If red dress, size it down.

Apileofballyhoo · 19/11/2025 08:57

Black dress is nicer.

Yes the black dress is not fully zipped up, as I couldn’t reach it myself Blush

I think in general my body language and posture is very slouchy as I’m so self conscious, I’m always in jeans and a tshirt and dont often wear dresses at all, so this is very new to me 🤣

thank you, I like the red colour too, but look you say the dress in the photo is a size up from my usual, perhaps it’s 2/3 sizes too big!

There's nothing wrong with your arms- you don't need to cover them up. Black dress is soooooo much more flattering. Freeing your shoulders, arms and decolletage is a celebration of the new you and you can wear this with body confidence and pride.

I reckon if the black dress is all zipped up (+/- shapewear) and you feel good in it (confident), it is the way to go.

If red dress, size down and wear it off shoulder.

You have a lovely figure.

Sorry for mentioning shapewear, I am not meaning to be negative. Just for me personally, when i wear it, it's presence makes me stop slouching and to straighten my shoulders.
