“Shut up, piggy”.

Trump told a female reporter this. How come this behaviour is accepted but if it was former president Obama, people would have lost their mind. Obama had to practically be ‘perfect’. When Obama wore a tan suit, it was such a huge deal.

Racism is a sick illness.

I am no Trump fan, but was he not just jokingly saying she’s being greedy and with her multiple questions and to give other reporters a chance to ask questions? I can imagine him saying it to a male or female, regardless of race .

I think the OP means the inherent racism towards Obama which meant he had to perform to a higher standard than your “average” President.

Lilactimes · 18/11/2025 23:45

YourTruthorMine · 18/11/2025 23:21

What does this have to do with Obama - where's the sympathy towards the victim? Do women really matter that little to you?

The OP is just talking about the flak Obama got for wearing a tan suit and how he had to perform at a higher standard than others because he was black.

Thinking rationally here; he said "Quiet, piggy!". Not the same as saying "Shut up!". He's not a fan of Bloomberg which she is a reporter for. The outlet is probably a heavily-biased news outlet favoured by Democrats. He was probably thinking a lot worse but was tame in his words given he was on camera. 'Piggy' is hardly insulting and if you find that it is, then, well, no advice for you from me. It's all tabloid fodder designed to rile people up, and it's worked.

Just to be completely clear, there’s nothing “rational” about what you’ve said. Saying “quiet, Piggy” to a female journalist simply doing her job is absolutely unacceptable in any circumstances, especially from the president of the United States.

It shows his lack of respect, his misogyny, his belief that the normal rules don’t apply to him, and his refusal to be asked questions that challenge him or his authority in any way.

Justify it all you like, but anyone who defends Trump and this comment in particular is as racist, bigoted and thick as he is. Would you accept this comment from Obama, or Biden, or Starmer? No, I didn’t think so.

Lilactimes · 18/11/2025 23:49

lifeonmars100 · 18/11/2025 22:28

not to mention that appalling incident where he mocked a disabled man. That would have ruined the career of any politician in this country.

I totally totally agree. How he got past those two comments is beyond me.

But he didn’t? I think Obama was probably one of the most respected and liked Presidents in recent times. He was always highly regarded by a lot of Americans and other world leaders.

sisagdhihh · 18/11/2025 21:19

It’s probably tactical. Say something shocking for headlines to distract from the really harmful stuff.

This.

It's a series of increasingly head-in-hands dead cats from the WH.

My (depressing) belief is that we've seen the last free and fair presidential election in the US for a period of time. No country has an automatic right to a democracy, after all. Not even America.

Really worrying times.

If we're talking standards, it's inarguable that Trump could orchestrate world peace and you'd still have plethora of people ad infinitum publicly mocking his skin tone, his hair, the way he speaks, his marriage, his children, his age, his weight. He's mocked to an unprecedented personal degree (by people who paradoxically consider themselves morally superior; people who think disagreeing with his politics gives them carte blanche to indulge their 'isms).

Delphinium20 · 19/11/2025 00:06

I just want that man cancelled and have the rest of his days spent in some shitty nursing home and no one visits or bends the knee to him. I'm so fucking over him.

Completely agree with this. I don't even care about Trump getting mocked ceaselessly, but it's so odd to see people ignore this fact. And pretending that he has been given more respect than Obama is just daft.

Could you elucidate us as to Catherine Lucey's lies, in this or other instances? Thanks!

She is a hack for the corrupt media company 'Bloomberg' 😮‍💨

ladsladzladse · 19/11/2025 00:21

The people who were genuinely distressed by Obama's non-traditional choice of suit colour are definitely upset by "shut up piggy", which among other things is indisputably non-presidential. And some people are upset (not necessarily genuinely) by anything Obama does and nothing Trump does, or vice versa, because of confirmation bias. And some people just need roubles to heat their Khrushchyovkas and buy pelmeni for their kids.

Beenwhereyouareagain · 19/11/2025 00:21

President Obama was everything a leader should be.

It's he

BatshitOutofHell · 19/11/2025 00:26

FuzzyPuffling · 18/11/2025 20:11

I saw it as misogyny, not racism.

Also, it was " Quiet, piggy"

Edited

I read her post as meaning that we in the public are racist becuse our reaction would have been off the scale if Obama had said it. I agree.

If he’d been in any way a decent human being he would have received about as much mocking as any other president.

Even his own family members don’t like him. And criticise him publicly.

MauveLibrary · 19/11/2025 00:30

He is a degenerate racist misogynist piece of filth. He has sexually abused women. He is a convicted felon. I dont understand why he isnt in prison. Surely if he is shown to be in the Epstein files and it can be evidenced that he participated in the crimes that took place then surely that has to be the end of him and he must be prosecuted and jailed.

Ah, so a reporter doing her job.

And why is 'Bloomberg' in quotation marks? It's the actual, literal name of the company, so doesn't require quotations marks. If you're looking to make your (incorrect) point, you really want the marks around 'media company.' HTH

I would imagine you're extremely familiar with all of her reporting then, so you can elaborate on her 'hackishness'?

I look forward to it.

SemperIdem · 19/11/2025 00:54

Every single President who preceded Trump would have been vilified for saying “quiet, piggy” along with 99% of his other sound bites. He is a lesser man than all of them.

XWKD · 19/11/2025 01:09

I give up on people who think like this. I can’t even be bothered to come up with an argument against. I mean it’s so obviously rubbish…

It beggars belief doesn't it.

It’s still not okay to call someone, particularly a woman, ‘Piggy’. Most of us learned that lesson by the time we were 6 years old, and he’s the elderly President of the United States. This isn’t a presidential standard but a reasonable, ethical person one.

He's a misogynistic bully. If he puts enough women on the spot like that he thinks they'll shut up and not ask the questions in the first place. He went after another female reporter, Mary Bruce, today.

I still can't believe the same country could elect Obama - basically the most decent man in North America - and Trump, the very worst. I suppose Trump is part of the backlash to Obama.

He was calling her fat.
he has a big issue with women and their weight (even though he is grossly obese.)
he is a classless, demented, disgusting malignant narcissist. He is a giant orange toddler.

How do you know this? I thought no one knew the identity of the journalist?
Maybe she was asking loads and loads of questions and he was referring to that as greed, hence 'piggy'?

thepariscrimefiles · 19/11/2025 07:28

Donald Trump is the most thin-skinned cry baby that has ever been elected to political office. He literally has his political opponents and people who disagree with him arrested on trumped up charges.

He is surrounded by sycophants and liars. It's a weird and scary cult because reason and science have been thrown out of the window. His theme tune should be 'Lip up Fatty' by Bad Manners, rather than 'YMCA' by the Village People.

The only politician that is playing him at his own game in Gavin Newsome, the Governor of California and his tweets are hilarious and really get under Trump's skin.

I absolutely hate his guts and I should stop watching and reading about him but it's almost impossible to look away. There are no depths that he won't plumb. He obviously has a personality disorder that is nurtured and pandered to, rather than treated.
