To feel sorry for the fake admiral

It seems to be a victimless crime and I don’t think he was doing anyone any harm. Given the amount of crimes such as shoplifting that go unpunished AIBU to think this man should be let off with a caution?

Maybe, but this thread, which contained serious discussion for a while, has been crayoned all over and dragged way off topic by a poster with an agenda so I get the annoyance.

On some better moderated forums the miscreant would have been banned well before the thread started to go off piste.

In my opinion, that poster is a tone deaf wanker. God forbid we tell them that though. They can derail and ride roughshod over the topic, reporting achieves nothing, and telling them what you think of the behaviour is not allowed.

I've tried hard to say this is what I think about the behaviour, rather than name calling but even so.

Yep..another thread ruined...

Personally I was finding the continual hints/insinuations that anyone patiently explaining the various protocols (promotions, uniforms, wearing of decorations) was automatically an "Andrew supporter" grossly offensive.

If you actually knew the history of this poster on this thread you'll see why this is my current response. That same history will show you there has been no point having an attempt at sensible discussion with them. What matters to me is their persistent disrespect to veterans families like mine on this thread not their views on royalty.

Yes and apparently I am now "unpleasant". I'll take my chances on that one, and stand by what I've persistently said about their hijacking of this thread for their own ends, and the despicable lack of respect they have shown throughout.

Those I feel sorry for are the REAL Admirals that have worked their arses off to get to where they are/were, the REAL people, only for some fakey to try to get credit.

What he did was a total 1000% insult to those who genuinely deserve to wear the uniforms and badges.

I think he has got off lightly tbh!

I know there are all sorts of versions of “my truth” out there atm but this is an undisputed case of the objective truth, that he did not serve at such and such a rank at such and such a time! Surely that should hold more value than £300?

Utterly pathetic. One should have grown out of that sort of self indulgent fantasy by about the age of eight imho!

I quite agree and to this end I was delighted to see AMW demoted to his real rank of Commander.

I can’t for the life of me understand how anyone can feel sorry for him.

He had someone sew a uniform for him and went to events which were to remember soldiers who died. He made speeches! He pushed himself in and put wreaths on memorials.

Why don’t you invite him along to a funeral for a loved one and he can make up a lovely speech about them in front of everyone? Who cares if he doesn’t know anything about that person and who cares if people who actually do have experience are pushed out?
