Our (understated) outside lights are up but not on. Except last night when we had a visitor who I thought would be cheered by them.
They'll go on next weekend with the town lights.

I do have to ask the early decorators why? I love Christmas, so am certainly not in the grinch category but one of the lovely things about the passing of each year it that there's a time for things, and November is not the time for Chrismas.

Mind you, I'm the woman who has left her (real) tree up until Candlemass on more than one occasion, so you'll no doubt think I'm bonkers.

I really want to put mine up what with all the dull weather but I’m going to hold strong until December.
To help though i do have a small set of fairy lights across the top of my kitchen dresser that are there all year round, i also have cherry blossom fairy lights on my living room windowsill.

Mine are usually up by now. The earliest we’ve done it is October half term week, it was wet out, we were bored.
Sadly this year I just can’t think about Christmas. My youngest DC is in court on 4th December and may go to prison 😭😭😭
Hes a beautiful soul with a kind heart. He made one very stupid decision that led to some serious charges (no one was harmed, nothing was stolen or broken) I’m heartbroken

I had to chuckle at the beginning of the week, neighbours down the road were putting up their Christmas decorations, including giant inflatable father Christmas, whilst the house opposite still have their house decorated for Halloween, including giant spiders, cobwebs and skeletons!

Alittlefrustrated · 16/11/2025 09:00

My neighbour opposite has her tree and indoor stuff up plus a door wreath. Been up over a week. She seems to be holding off with her usual outdoor stuff.
I passed 4 houses in wider neighbourhood, who had them up weeks ago.
My family tradition is 1/12 and I'm sticking to it. I do go full on, indoors and out though. Love it. Don't love it after 1/1 - they'd disappeared when I got up, as a child, but DP likes them up until 05/01.
I'm making an exception for festive films - off to the cinema tomorrow.

No.

AnonKat · 16/11/2025 09:03

I put mine up yesterday. I wouldn't normally but im due in a couple of weeks. I haven't put anything outside though, I dont want to be the first 🤣

HelpMeGetThrough · 16/11/2025 09:10

Ours will go up about the 20th December and will be down on New Years Eve.

PurpleFlower1983 · 16/11/2025 09:11

I think we’re biting the bullet next weekend.

andanotherproblem · 16/11/2025 09:15

Yes I desperately look everyday to see if anyone else has, I said to my DP yesterday that our local town has their tree up so surely that’s good enough. I think I’m going to put them up ok the weekend

Tumbleweed101 · 16/11/2025 09:40

Too early for me. When I had little children it was always the first weekend of December. Now I don’t have little children it’ll probably be mid December before I start thinking about it. I did buy my first xmas
gift yesterday though!

SliceofTosst · 16/11/2025 10:22

Temperature is dropping this week so will definitely start to feel more acceptable. Beginning of December is when I'm doing it.

Norugratsatall · 16/11/2025 11:22

I love going for a walk at dusk at any time of year but particularly at this time of year as I look forward to seeing all the Xmas decs and lights. Went for a walk last night and not seen any yet though. Ours will go up second week of Dec I expect.

Nannyfannybanny · 17/11/2025 07:47

PixieandMe, I put on the fire effect from the fake log burner, and table lamps, yellow Tiffany shades, makes things look cosy..
