To just give up on getting any sleep at all tonight?

peakedat40 · 11/11/2025 03:24

It took absolutely ages to get both children to sleep tonight. DS (nearly 5) has always been fine but since going back to school after half term has been really funny about going to to sleep; keeps complaining he can’t sleep (well no, you can’t if you’re sitting on your bed swinging your legs or standing on it.) DD (2) is often tricky to get to sleep on days she’s napped. So in the end it’s nearly nine by the time both are asleep.

DD has woken repeatedly from 11 onwards, I say woken repeatedly but I’m not actually sure she’s slept in between. No idea what’s wrong; I’ve given her Calpol in case it’s teeth or something.

They will both be awake at 6 regardless.

I have been on the verge of sleep countless times and now am wide awake and really pissed off at I don’t even know who or what.

Just saying hello in solidarity. My dog saw a fox through the window at 2.30 and woke the whole house up with his barking. I’m still up drinking camomile tea and trying to switch off. I hate not sleeping but I try not to fight it too much. I sometimes plan fantasy holidays in my head or count back from 100 a few times. Hope u can relax at the very least x

Notimeforaname · 11/11/2025 03:37

I cant sleep either. And now im hungry. Debating if I should just lean into it, get up and make some toast.

ChocolateAndCrispsAndBiscuits · 11/11/2025 03:45

My brain is awake and going over all the things I haven't had time to do at work, or at home. What I need is sleep, so I function better today, but no.

I've retreated to the sofa so I don't wake DH. Pondering whether making a cup of tea would wake him.

NeedANewOne25 · 11/11/2025 03:53

Toast sounds good. Work is chaotic, I’m failing to hire for my very small team, and one of my team is going to be off for 2 months and there is new work coming in, there’s just not enough of me to get everything done.
I did manage to get to sleep but my lovely DH is snoring and I can’t get back off. He doesn’t normally snore, so can’t grumble too much.

YourLilacDreamer · 11/11/2025 03:53

I’m in the no sleep club for no other reason than I can’t switch off. My hubby and little one are sound asleep and I’m starting to get that achy way when I’ve not sleep! Wondering if I should get up and make tea, the peace pukka tea is relaxing and try read my book to send me to sleep it just feels so late now when I know the alarm is going off at 6:30am

DinoLil · 11/11/2025 03:54

I'm also awake for a million reasons. Bah.

I've just picked at my leftovers from tea, woken the dog up. Also probably most of my neighbours with my lights going on and off.

I'm soooo fed up.

Bonden · 11/11/2025 03:58

I’m awake too - have awful insomnia anyway. Thinking of work jobs undone so just got up and did them. Now having malty drink and contemplating bed again.

Iwannadancewithsomebody88 · 11/11/2025 04:09

I'm also in the can't sleep club. I've had 2 hours and then a police helicopter was flying around and woke me up. Now I can't sleep and know my alarm will go off in 2 hours... My dilemma is Do I continue to attempt sleep or give up and go downstairs and get some work done?????

Nameeechanged · 11/11/2025 04:15

I’m awake too. DH has been in hospital a week and it’s stressful, we had a slight tiff earlier over text and now I’m lying awake regretting saying something to him that caused it, but equally wishing I’d explained myself better. So stressed my eye keeps twitching! Liking the suggestion of toast by someone up thread, might move to the sofa with the dogs and eat my feelings!

NeverAloneNeverAgain · 11/11/2025 04:18

No sleep here either. Drowning in work currently so gave in about 3 to write an assessment. I will regret this by lunchtime. Having a coffee break and doom scrolling currently while I consider if I should just get a job in a supermarket!

Nevertriedcaviar · 11/11/2025 04:22

I'm awake too. I have insomnia, and also chronic kidney disease, which makes my legs twitch and move insessantly. The one good thing is that I am retired and can sleep in. Hopefully I might get a couple of hours in tonight. Sending sympathy to all who are still awake, for whatever reason.

MrsTulip · 11/11/2025 04:34

I came to bed early but DH woke me up when he came to bed around midnight, I’ve not been able to get back to sleep because I have various stuff going round and round in my head and can’t switch off.
My alarm is set for 6:30 and I’ve got a busy full on day ahead so no chance of grabbing a quick nap later

xxxwd · 11/11/2025 04:36

Up with a UTI here and alarm goes off at 7am.

MyIvyGrows · 11/11/2025 04:42

Woke at 3.20 (with a sneezing fit) so retreated to the sofa so I didn’t wake anyone. Went back to bed when I got cold but have just been scrolling; I wish I had the drive to get some work done!

I have no trouble falling asleep, but waking in the middle of the night happens so often that I assume it’s perimenopause. I’m 42.

HelpMeGetThrough · 11/11/2025 04:45

Have been awake on and off pretty much all night. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and am in probably the worst flare I’ve ever had. Have been dosing up on codeine and morphine most of the night, the pain at the moment is off the charts. I’m on the settee under a heated throw with joggers and socks on, so nice and warm.

I’m due in hospital at 7:30am for my infusion, so have to be up at 5:30am to get my OH some coffee and us get showered and head out. Will be in there most, if not all day, so hopefully I’ll get a bit of a sleep in between them doing my observations every 30 minutes.

cannynotsay · 11/11/2025 04:49

Toddler acting up hard here too, it’s my graduation today, I’m 7 months pregnant and was really hoping for a good night. But no, also pulled a pelvic muscle and I’m in pain! Yay me

AnxiousAnnieeeeeeeeee · 11/11/2025 04:50

Sounds so painful @HelpMeGetThrough hope the pain eases.

DH had some dental work yesterday and he was up as he was a bit sore. He didn’t make noise but him being up most have disturbed me so now I am awake and he is asleep.

I was exhausted last night and desperate to get to bed. Alarm going off at 6.30 and anticipate feeling just as exhausted tonight.

AluckyEllie · 11/11/2025 04:54

18 month old woke up the 3.5 year old (they share a room) and now I’m downstairs watching tinkerbell. Husband goes to London for work today so he’s in the shower. Very tired. But I am lucky I don’t have work today (part time) so I don’t have to be social and can just faff about at the park.

ChocolateAndCrispsAndBiscuits · 11/11/2025 05:00

Still awake from last night here..
Hope everyone gets back to sleep or atleast has a chance to snooze later on

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 11/11/2025 05:01

Late to bed after a school event.
Dogs woke me up barking at 1.30 and I was coughing as I seem to have developed some kind of reflux which involves coughing up phleghm, or it could be my asthma. Who knows. Finally dozed.
Dog needed to go out for a wee at 2.30.
Woke up coughing again at 3.15, dozed fitfully.
Alarm went off at 4.45
Up now to walk dogs.

Not sure why I bothered lying down.

GreenGodiva · 11/11/2025 05:05

I’m up with you op, have been since 2.30am. Really struggled to drop off and didn’t get to sleep until about 10.30. Good knows hope in going to cope as this has been going on for 6 weeks now and I’m normally a 8-12 hours a night kind of woman. Although to be fair I know it’s related to my new adhd medication, but I don’t know how I can survive on 4 hours a night long term.

The family likes it though, have done 2 loads of washing, a load of drying, baked cinnamon rolls from scratch and done the dish washer. Turns out I do my best domestic work between 3-6 am bit I’m praying that doesn’t last forever. I’d be happy just sleeping until 5-6am. 6-7 hours a night would be grand.

maybe I need to join an early morning gym 🤔

I used to live in Kirkby, on an incredibly rough estate. The police helicopter was a very frequent visitor but in the summer it would be over my estate 3-4 nights a week and the lights were so bright it was like being Xrayed through your bedroom window. We called it the Northwood Star as it was a constant visitor 😂

StandbyLight · 11/11/2025 05:13

Nice to find you all!

Sorry for everyone's reasons for being up.

I have a horrible cough and cold, so can't lie down v well so haven't slept properly for days. The GP has given me steroids to calm my chest down but this means I am hungry in the night. Just been downstairs to forage....

I think I actually slept from about midnight to 4 which is the best in days, so hopefully tonight will be even better.

jamcorrosion · 11/11/2025 05:14

I’m in the same boat except my son isn’t even here!!! He stays with his big sister Mondays so it’s my night to just relax. But I woke 2 hours ago and wide awake since!! So so so annoying it’s the one night I can usually get a really good sleep
