To just give up on getting any sleep at all tonight?

peakedat40 · 11/11/2025 03:24

It took absolutely ages to get both children to sleep tonight. DS (nearly 5) has always been fine but since going back to school after half term has been really funny about going to to sleep; keeps complaining he can’t sleep (well no, you can’t if you’re sitting on your bed swinging your legs or standing on it.) DD (2) is often tricky to get to sleep on days she’s napped. So in the end it’s nearly nine by the time both are asleep.

DD has woken repeatedly from 11 onwards, I say woken repeatedly but I’m not actually sure she’s slept in between. No idea what’s wrong; I’ve given her Calpol in case it’s teeth or something.

They will both be awake at 6 regardless.

I have been on the verge of sleep countless times and now am wide awake and really pissed off at I don’t even know who or what.

Morning

Woke up at 4.40am

Leant into it, had a shower and I've got a long wash on.

Will have it out, drying and ironed before I go to work this morning at 9.30am

ViviousCurrentBun · 11/11/2025 05:18

I fell asleep on the sofa at about 10pm, woke at 1am went to bed, gave up after an hour and have been awake since. I do have a lot on my mind currently, very different things, unwell relatives and also very nice social things coming up but 3 big social things in a week is far too much for me. But you can’t move birthdays or graduation ceremonies

Blimey.

I've eaten a croissant and am scrolling on my phone...

I have never ironed anything.

We are very different people 🤣

ViviousCurrentBun · 11/11/2025 05:21

@StandbyLight I have just chopped loads of veg as I’m cooking a big birthday day dinner tonight, multiple dishes. This hosting dinner is in addition to the 3 social events out this week. I’m making 2 soups, pork, fish and chicken dishes, plus a birthday cake.

I’ve been awake since 2:30 (same as last night) due to the supplementary cancer treatment I had on Friday, it gives me nausea and makes my bones ache. Can’t lie on my back as I feel sick and can’t lie on my side as it makes my ears hurt. I’m downstairs on the sofa so I don’t disturb DH and the dog is curled up by my feet. Tea and toast sounds great but dog is a toast fiend so he would be slobbering all over me, my pyjamas, his pyjamas, the sofa, the carpet etc… he’s the size of a small pony (hence user name) so that’s a lot of slobber😂

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 11/11/2025 05:28

Been awake since 4. Currently sat down stairs with tea and biscuits.

It’s freezing.

NetZeroZealot · 11/11/2025 05:29

I’ve been in A&E with my Mum since 11pm. We could leave but we need to be discharged by a doctor. I’m so exhausted. Luckily I don’t have a busy work day later.

JustMe2026 · 11/11/2025 05:31

Hope your Mum has received the treatment she needs and recovers well 💐

Thank you. 4th trip this year. She’s on a waiting list for surgery that should prevent the problem.

No sleep here either. Drowning in work currently so gave in about 3 to write an assessment. I will regret this by lunchtime. Having a coffee break and doom scrolling currently while I consider if I should just get a job in a supermarket!

Ahh this is my life too

So many 3/4am starts and so much work

Can't switch off ever

liveforsummer · 11/11/2025 05:44

since the clock change my 4 am wake up has become 3. Sometimes I manage to get back to sleep after an hour or 2 but no such luck today so I’ve given up and picked up the phone, which I’ve been trying to avoid lately

ChocolateAndCrispsAndBiscuits · 11/11/2025 06:25

I just cant be productive

Its cold out there... Im still in bed, warm and cosy but no sleep at all, but i am not planning to sit on the sofa, do laundry, cook or anything else you crazy people are doing 🤣

ChocolateAndCrispsAndBiscuits · 12/11/2025 05:19

Hope everyone had naps :)

I’m up with you op, have been since 2.30am. Really struggled to drop off and didn’t get to sleep until about 10.30. Good knows hope in going to cope as this has been going on for 6 weeks now and I’m normally a 8-12 hours a night kind of woman. Although to be fair I know it’s related to my new adhd medication, but I don’t know how I can survive on 4 hours a night long term.

The family likes it though, have done 2 loads of washing, a load of drying, baked cinnamon rolls from scratch and done the dish washer. Turns out I do my best domestic work between 3-6 am bit I’m praying that doesn’t last forever. I’d be happy just sleeping until 5-6am. 6-7 hours a night would be grand.

maybe I need to join an early morning gym 🤔

My adhd meds make sleeping terrible/almost impossible. I take mine only on days when I must be social/productive. I feel your pain!

Enigma54 · 12/11/2025 10:27

Think I need to join this thread too. Cancer treatment side effects kicking in, menopause symptoms are rife, stressing over being off work for so long and losing pay and an unbelievably long form to fill out for an ESA claim.

I hope the day improves for you all and you get a better sleep tonight 🤞💐

Bonden · 14/11/2025 09:43

I saw a Doctor. Had to get a friend to make the appointment for me but still … and got prescribed Quviviq. Haven’t taken it yet but it’s “the new kid on the block” according to the GP

ChocolateAndCrispsAndBiscuits · 15/11/2025 03:37

The new kid on the block... Interesting

I awake. Tmrw is ruined. I won’t be able To go to a Xmas market with my daughters now and goodness knows about the concert in London. I’m so broken with insomnia it’s ruining my life

Oh no that sucks.... Can you not muddle through the Christmas activities?

oh lord yes - it ruins your life doesn’t it. “Muddling through” the day works ok once in a while, when you’re not totally sleep deprived from weeks months or years of insomnia.
im so sorry socks.

socks1107 · 15/11/2025 09:57

I managed three hours after taking two nytol. This week I’ve had three bad nights and had to take zopiclone on two of them.
i will muddle through today in the hope of being exhausted enough to sleep tonight.
mine is performance sleep, sleep well if i am wfh or not doing much the next day. Its debilitating. So sorry there are others going through this
