I don’t actually mind listening to him for the 20 minutes of school run, he’s quite witty and genuinely seems to enjoy the company of guests and colleagues. But I do think he needs lessons on how to be a good interviewer and give the guest space to talk about their own thing.

I can’t bear to listen to him. I have stopped listening to radio 2 altogether. He’s just awful, not funny and arrogant all that “love you” shit makes my teeth itch!

Getting rid of Steve Wright (rip)and replacing him with Scott Mills was the last straw for me. I’ve nothing against Scott but his show was so so boring and I missed the wonderful Steve Wright.

I listen to Greatest Hits Radio, all my old R2 favs are there. Ken Bruce, Simon Mayo, etc etc etc

Chris Evans is exactly the same on Virgin…!

About 90% of R2 presenters do the everything's about me name dropping. Scott isn't the worst offender by miles! Ferne Cotton is especially dreadful for it.

In fact most are fairly terrible for it. How many times did Sara go on about seeing Damon Albarn then other day?

Trevor, Spoony and Gary Davis are probably better than the rest of them.

Having said that I like Scott on Breakfast. He was boring in the afternoon but much better at breakfast and an improvement on Zoe. I like Sara too and I think she works well on drive time.

I find Scott’s voice awfully monotone and I think sometimes his humour comes across as him being snide. I don’t enjoy listening to him. He seems like a nice enough guy but I don’t think he’s a good radio presenter. I have no idea how he got the breakfast slot.

Used to be radio 2 most of the day. Just off between 12 and 2 as can't stand JV. Terry died and that was the end of the breakfast show. After Steve Wright went - so did the afternoon. Then followed Ken Bruce to Greatest Hits and it's no more BBC radio for me, except in the car

Oh can’t stand Scott Mills. He’s boring and banal and as for that easiest quiz and the fake pleading with the quiz for one more go- eugh! It’s contrived nonsense and I cringe for both him and the caller.

I miss Zoe Ball - she was clearly struggling near the end of her run, but at least she was interesting.

I’m not even fussy about what I listen to on the radio - but Scott Mills has turned me off from R2 breakfast. I wish he’d leave!

I don’t think he’ll ever leave, he’s got his dream slot and thinks he’s the bees knees.

I prefer GHR with Ken Bruce. He is not egotistical like a lot of people on radio. Pop master is so much better than Radio 2's quiz. People have to wait for ages to be on popmaster .Like others have commented all of GHR staff are far better than radio 2 dj's.

I wasn’t looking forward to Scott taking over the breakfast show AT ALL, but I’ve really warmed to him. His guests know that they’re not about to be interviewed by Paxo, so they all seem to be quite relaxed and enjoying a laugh (see Gloria Estefan). I also initially hated Vernon Kaye but now really like him too. I think maybe I’m just easily pleased…?

That said, none of them are a patch on Liza Tarbuck, she is spectacular.

Agree with PP, he’s much better than Zoe, she’s far too gushing and incoherent and stuttering to be a presenter imho. No offence to her, I’d be the same - which is why I’m not a highly paid radio presenter.

Im going against the grain about Sara Cox too, I don’t like her banal show. Bring back Simon Mayo and his witty, intelligent teatime show with interesting guests rather than twatty quizzes. Yes I know Simon’s on GHR but I can’t cope with the ad breaks on there.

I absolutely adore Scott Mills and Zoe Ball so was sad and pleased when Scott took over the breakfast show. I find him really funny and down to earth. I guess people perceive other people in completely different ways! And I still get to listen to Zoe on a Saturday afternoon.

I love Sara Cox too but I much prefer her in the afternoon, it messes my day up otherwise if I hear her when she’s covering for Scott. Although then we tend to get OJ Borg in the afternoon and I love him too! His overnight show has got me through many a night breastfeeding when my DS was younger.

The only really good thing I can say about Scott Mill’s show is that they’ve bumped Richie Anderson. I simply cannot understand that man’s appeal.

I find Vern increasingly enjoyable to listen to and the Trevor Nelson show is really good. I like it when Gary and DJ Spoony stand in too.

He massively pissed me off this morning, segment about Sara Cox’s multi marathon challenge, the band Five done a version of their song Keep on moving with all radio 2 DJs, played for first time on his show this morning, he couldn’t help himself make it about him by interjecting with a quip about Jo Wiley singing in the middle of the song, just ruined it because as soon as he did it it pissed me off and ruined the moment of me enjoying listening to it. He’s so self centred , always has to be main character. He needs binning off breakfast.

The quiz he does has potential to be really good but he ruins it daily by not just getting on and asking the questions. He’s just a dickhead.

I LOVE SCOTT!! I grew up listening to him on Power fm. He makes me laugh. I also loved Zoe but why the need to compare? They’re different and both brilliant.

I thought of this thread this morning when the woman was waiting for Sara with the Shetland pony and he was like, that's why it's rubbish living in London, I can't take a pony to work. 🤣
I'm not sure when I'm going to stop missing Jay's quiz on a Thursday but I don't mind Scott really.

Trevor’s show is ace and he is great . I don’t mind Scott, but he is a bit self absorbed sometimes.

Agree re Trevor Nelson's music is a lot better.

Otherwise I hate all of the presenters ie Vernon Kay/Scott Mills/Sarah Cox and I used to really hate Zoe Ball - generally just switch the radio off.

I’ve stopped listening to Radio 2. Scott Mills is so egotistical and bland. I listen to GHR, love Ken Bruce and Simon Mayo.

He seems like a pleasant enough guy but not intellectually sharp enough to elicit an interesting conversation from his guests.
There does seem to be a gap in the market for a show that's a middle ground between his wittering and the gravity of Radio 4 early in the morning.

Mornings are hellish now. Between him and the utter sanctimonious twattery of Chris Evan’s - I can’t bear it.

The loss of Graham Norton at the weekends has been something I’ve never gotten over either.

I agree that Scott Mills needs to work on his tone of voice. It is monotonous and lacks expression, which makes him sound bored and boring.

I can't stand the "love you, bye" either.

Vernon has really grown on me. He sounds animated and interesting. I find myself listening to Classic FM and radio 4 more and more these days, and I will definitely be switching off any kind of pop radio next month when they start playing back to back Christmas songs.

Oh god OP, I say this all the time! Bloody me,me,me Mills. We have R2 on pretty much all day as we enjoy most of it but on my way into work listening to him it’s ridiculous. He’ll definitely be on celeb traitors next year as he couldn’t bloody stand not to be part of that juggernaut.
I do surprisingly really like Paddy McGuinness on Sundays which I was certain wouldn’t be the case.

I can’t stand Scott Mills! Dreary voice and yes he loves talking about himself. I listen to Chris Evans, now he is next level talking about himself but at least his voice doesn’t make my teeth itch!
