Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

My DH is currently working as a delivery driver; albeit not for Amazon. It’s not unusual for them to pause their round of something unavoidable comes up and then resume later (as you know despite your obvious view that people like him are clearly a lower species than you they are in fact human and do occasionally have life issues that may be slightly more important than your parcel!). In which case it may be that it shows his last location before pausing.
Also how do you know he’s not broken down or has a puncture or heaven forbid on a telephone interview for a different job so he doesn’t have to deal with people like you.
Also the majority of delivery drivers are self employed so set their own hours and paid per parcel, not by time on road.
chances are he/she can’t wait to get your parcel delivered and get back to their family.

Not that type of pub!

That’s only your opinion. Every pub will have soft drinks no matter what your judgement of it is. You have absolutely no idea or evidence that he (or she) has been drinking alcohol.

It’s also quite possible they live nearby and park their van there or else the van has broken down. Alternatively, perhaps it’s been stolen and dumped. Some people also take their own lunches and snacks with them to eat.

So much judgement and assumption with absolutely no evidence.

Oh the irony...

You sound like a stalker 🙈

Atsocta · 07/11/2025 20:50

Give the man a break, you should be more organised in ordering your supplies..

WeCouldBeNiceToEachOther · 07/11/2025 20:53

Amazon don’t offer before 1pm delivery.

Royal Mail do.

Why have you lied?

CheeseNPickle3 · 07/11/2025 20:57

They do for some things. We can get some things same day. Depends what it is and what time of day you order.

They do sometimes?

Laura95167 · 07/11/2025 20:59

Could be on his lunch. He could be parked up dropping off a few parcels in the area.

He might live in the area or have stopped for a personal meeting with a neighbour or relative.

Or he might have clocked out for a pint and pie.

It makes no difference to amazon if he delivers it 5mins or 5hrs as long its within their time limits.

Its none of your business what hes doing

Laura95167 · 07/11/2025 21:04

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 20:19

It wouldn’t be the first time we have had delivery drivers turn up clearly under the influence.

Reporting that would be fine.

Assuming this driver is drinking and driving based on an app isnt. He might be stopped near the car park.. they arent 100 accurate. And it sounds like your issue is that he isnt driving

Or he might be having a coke, or visting someone nearby

Not through their courier service.

??
some items most definitely give you a ‘before 1pm’ option

Emmz1510 · 07/11/2025 21:11

Get a grip! You don’t even know he’s drinking. He could be having a pub lunch.

CheeseNPickle3 · 07/11/2025 21:12

That's a very long pub lunch in a pub that doesn't serve food, don't you think?

Amazing how people rush to defend the guy who, for whatever reason, didn't get the job done in order to put the boot in to the OP.

And don't read any of the OP's updates.

NeedATreat · 07/11/2025 21:12

I got bored reading the OPs repeated “I have an issue with drink driving” posts before I actually discovered if the driver was under the influence.

You had no idea what he was drinking, if he was drinking, and it’s not on him that you need the parcel. If it’s delivered on the day it’s due to arrive, during the timeframe given, then it’s absolutely none of your business what he does and where he is beyond that. WTF do you mean it’s “not an appropriate place for anyone in the middle of a shift”?! Are you his line manager? If he’s in an unpaid break then he can do what he likes despite an uptight busybody having an opinion on it

MibsXX · 07/11/2025 21:13

Or thats the meeting place for a larger van to drop more parcels off for them to deliver! FFS have a little patience!

ThistleTits · 07/11/2025 21:18

@sosorryimnotsorry perhaps you should ensure you place orders in good time. Then you would not have to be panicking over a delivery.

Terfarina · 07/11/2025 21:18

Blimey... Everyone knows Amazon delivery times should be taken with a pinch of salt. No way would I order a business critical piece of machinery through Amazon, which is primarily a domestic supplier & broker.

Next time cough up for the part from the manufacturer in the first place - far better that than trying to take away the livelihood of a minimum wage worker whose priorities do not align with those of your business to save a couple of quid.

sosorryimnotsorry · 07/11/2025 21:23

WeCouldBeNiceToEachOther · 07/11/2025 21:07

@WeCouldBeNiceToEachOtherLying am I now? Perhaps you should take more note of your username!

Amazon absolutely DO offer both same day and before 1pm next day delivery. Not in every postcode no. But they do offer it here.

Wow!

You've certainly brought a lot of M.N. nutters out with this post.
Frankly, I believe your post was not unreasonable.

Think I should remind you of Mark Twains " Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. "

@ThistleTitscould you please tell me where to buy a crystal ball from please? So next time a machine part that has never failed before is about to fail we can have more warning! I’m not sure how you think we could have prepared better? This machine part has never failed on us before in a 20 year history of using these machines! 🧐

Why have you lied?

Yes they do. Not for every item, it depends on what's in your local depots, but they definitely offer it.

WLnamechange · 07/11/2025 21:29

Yeah to be fair amazon definitely do offer next day before 1pm

RubySquid · 07/11/2025 21:31

wrongthinker · 07/11/2025 19:38

I would have totally got in touch with Amazon, yes. If he was broken down or had an accident, you should have been informed. But also people should do their jobs properly.

I suspect most people on this thread would complain about a late or missing delivery. Weird to lay into the OP for something everyone would do.

Have you actually ever complained to Amazon? You have to do online chat and they tell you to wait 2 days then get back in contact if it's not arrived

Jiski · 07/11/2025 21:31

Delivery drivers have breaks too. Pubs have food and toilets. Why the hell can’t he be there?
