Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

Wow. You do realise that your Amazon delivery driver is a human being, don't you? It's absolutely none of your business where he takes his break. It also isn't his fault that you ordered an item to be delivered on the day you actually need to use it. Talk about entitlement!

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 19:32

Pub doesn’t sell food. It’s a tiny drinkers pub. Much more convenient places to stop.

You are not entitled to decide where he stops; that is his choice.

Shotokan101 · 07/11/2025 19:13

You're just being a whinging dickhead.......

LBFseBrom · 07/11/2025 19:14

No I would not report him, I don't grass people up for things like that, nobody has died. He is probably having a designated break.

JeannetteBlue · 07/11/2025 19:17

Nevernonono · 07/11/2025 07:01

Yes you are, you don’t think the tracker maybe wrong?

How do you or the OP know why he’s stopped, i
mesn she thinks it’s because he getting pissed, or drug taking.

Why do you think he’s stopped?

OP can’t go there for her very important parcel, she’s scared even driving past.

I don't know why he's stopped and neither does OP but people who haven't read anything saying lunch breaks are allowed are missing the point.

Mothership4two · 07/11/2025 19:33

Right so either the tracking was faulty or the driver was at pub, but something happened, maybe the car broke down/driver became ill/etc just as most of us suspected yesterday? Do hope driver isn't trapped in the drug den slowly dehydrating from lack of soft drinks! I suppose there is an alternative that driver is on MN and thought 'bugger that' after reading OP's posts?!! Whatever, as OP was tracking them, I'd assumed they had planned to deliver and were waylaid. Despite the avalanche of YABUs, OP seems to think their attitude was OK

GlitteryRainbow · 07/11/2025 19:34

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 19:35

He is at a well known drinkers pub. It isn’t the type of place you go for a break.

Maybe he’s meeting someone who is a drinker at the pub on his break? Perhaps the pub is owned by friends or family and he’s stopped off on his break? Or he has a bowel condition that’s playing up and he’s in the toilet? Perhaps he was delivering there and got a puncture and is waiting for it to be fixed. Perhaps after delivering to the pub he’s had a heart attack or seizure or slipped into a diabetic coma. Or perhaps he was just thirsty. There are any number of reasons why he could be there that don’t involve drinking. If you are that bothered why not drive there and ask him.

wrongthinker · 07/11/2025 19:38

I would have totally got in touch with Amazon, yes. If he was broken down or had an accident, you should have been informed. But also people should do their jobs properly.

I suspect most people on this thread would complain about a late or missing delivery. Weird to lay into the OP for something everyone would do.

hazelowens · 07/11/2025 19:41

I remember watching my Amazon delivery and being next delivery and it sitting like that for ages and it pin pointed him to be right outside. I opened my front door and the poor guy had locked himself out of his van. He sat there for around 3 hours waiting for someone to either bring him the spare key or to break into his van for him. So your poor driver could be locked out his van.

5gymbabe · 07/11/2025 19:41

I think he needs to check where he is allowed to take his break next time before delivering their parcel 🤣

Its one thing to be annoyed about a late delivery but another entirely to threaten to report a driver to their employer for drink driving with zero evidence!

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 07/11/2025 19:46

Not a great fan of Amazon and the Great God Bezos and the way they treat their suppliers and staff. Goes for other delivery companies as well

You could report this driver . But l reckon even if he was having a drink you would have to prove it.

And l reckon you would get nowhere with Amazon as they couldn't care less.
Like a lot of delivery companies they just l compulsively lie or don't get back to you. Part of their business model.

My beef with Amazon and other companies drivers is that they park on pavements blocking them. When delivering and having their breaks. So people with mobility issues can't get past.

Hence, Disabled pedestrians have
to walk into the road dodging cars..

Ocelotfeet27 · 07/11/2025 19:47

I empathise with you OP. I also run a small business and shitty delivery companies/drivers are the bane of my existence. UPS and Yodel I'm looking at you!

Why didn't you drive down and see if you could spot the van? I once chased a Parcel Force van through my local area as he skipped our stop saying he couldn't find the house (he could, he just was running behind and couldn't be bothered to come to my out of the way address). He was delighted when he realised he was able to hand over my parcel without having to drive back to me the next day. Less delighted when I told him I knew he'd deliberately skipped my address and was unimpressed 😂Another driver used to regularly steal our expensive items (not every parcel, just the expensive electronics). I took to checking the app and if I saw his name making sure I obsessively stalked his movements, and waited outside the house so he couldn't lie and say he'd dropped it off then steal it. Cheeky fucker.

Final update.
Still no parcel and we have now cancelled it and will be getting a refund. Amazon don’t seem to know where the parcel is or if it will be delivered. Our wonderful engineer has managed to sort a work around for the machine and parts on order directly from manufacturer.

parcel was actually due before 1pm yesterday - that’s the delivery my BP selected and paid for. It was not on prime. Delivery then was rescheduled to 4:15 - 6:15pm.

To answer some questions
No we were not disorganised about needing something urgently. It was a mechanical part for a machine we use. Not components for products. In over 20 years of using this machine and similar ones this specific part has never before broken. The engineer we had out this morning has seen it happen only a couple of times and he services these machines every day. So short of having a crystal ball we could not have predicted that it would fail when it did. Or how it did.

Tracking deliveries when you run a business like ours is routine. We know within a small window of time when most of our deliveries are due. It’s just the way our logistics work. So it’s not at all unusual for us to notice a later than scheduled delivery.

Nor did we research the pub. We know the pub we have all lived here along time. We have access to some land down the road from the pub so yes we do go past it from time to time.

Its really not that deep!

I am now going back to work as we are incredibly busy!

The delivery schedule is only ever an estimate so you can never rely on it arriving when it says anyway.

HPFA · 07/11/2025 19:47

This reminds me of when I started work many years ago in a local library.

When it was our Saturday to work a colleague and I used to treat ourselves to lunch in the local pub - half a cider and a lasagne.

One day we heard that there'd been a phone call to our manager saying "you should be aware members of your staff are drinking in X pub at lunchtime on Saturday".

His response was "if it's lunchtime that's their business".

Still find it amazing - it's not like we were falling around drunk.

SevenYellowHammers · 07/11/2025 19:52

Whilst you’re waiting, watch the Ken Loach film Sorry We Missed You

MoonWoman69 · 07/11/2025 19:56

Oh my God, are you for real?! A driver is allowed a 45 minute meal break! They are still well within their delivery window!
Has it occurred to you that they have found somewhere quiet to eat their pack up and maybe have a loo break?! The pub could have had a delivery and the driver has taken the opportunity to stop in the car park!
Maybe order what you need a day or two earlier, instead of blaming someone else for your lack of time?
Selfish beyond words - you, not the delivery driver!

This didn't go your way did it.

Digging your heels in further that you 'know' he must be 'getting drunk' (ridiculous btw) rather than the far more logical 'taking his required break to eat, rest and toilet' because you are horribly impatient (and weirdly stalkerish) and trying to ruin a persons job in the run up to Christmas out of pure selfishness just makes you look like an awful person honestly.

Your probably best to walk away and think about it more calmly and logically then come back and admit you where wrong rather than getting defensive and digging further.

another one who hasn't read any of the updates...

Delivery of parts for a machine that had just broken was supposed to be yesterday before 1pm.
Parcel never showed.
Order now cancelled.
Machine temporarily fixed by engineer and parts ordered direct from manufacturer.

I doubt he's having a 24+ hour meal break to eat his packed lunch and have a loo break and it's not possible to order replacement parts for a machine before it's broken.

Unless he is outside the 2 hour delivery window then you have nothing to complain about. He is managing his time and his breaks, he might have been on the road since 6am.

Theunamedcat · 07/11/2025 20:18

Honestly ive reported amazon drivers before especially the one who yelled abuse at my neighbour who had the nerve to protest he had blocked her onto her drive

Read the updates

I have. I still stand by my comment. He could have had issues with his vehicle and been having it looked at. I have had it happen where amazon say they will deliver but then by end of day say there was an issue they will deliver next day.
