Amazon delivery driver in pub on duty.

More a What would you do than an AIBU.

Currently awaiting an Amazon delivery. It’s important as I need it for my business and need it today so products can be made to send out tomorrow. So I’m anxious for it to arrive.
I have been following the tracking of the van. I’m the next delivery and have been for over 35minutes. The van has not moved in that time and is in a car park outside a pub a couple of miles away. The pub is down a lane with no other properties or buildings down there and the tracking is showing it in the car park.

I’m not going to lie I’m pissed off because I need my parcel urgently and I’m waiting for a delivery man to finish his drink in the pub and actually bother to deliver it.
My question is would you report them to Amazon? I have screenshots of the tracking.

You really are an absolute horror.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 07/11/2025 08:27

Dying to know if you received the parcel.

I did this job for a year, sometimes parcels were missing and customers weren't notified until later on the night. I used to deliver to a pub and the landlord was happy for me to sit in the carpark so I could eat my packed lunch, granted it wasn't for 2 hours. I sat with my van one day for 3 hours after a breakdown, someone did come and take over my delivery but it was a few hours until another driver was available. 2 hours for a flat tyre too.

A lot could have happened - the driver will be self employed and I don't think they would risk their job/livelihood for a few pints in a back street boozer.

MrsDoubtfire1 · 07/11/2025 08:32

For goodness sake, you are behaving like a spy master. He probably needs a comfort break, is eating his sanny and having a drink. You are not the only delivery on his list. Talk about self entitled. How nasty to think of reporting him. You need a reality check as to how you come across.

ohtowinthelottery · 07/11/2025 08:37

If he was only 8 minutes away, I assume you drove down there on your way home to satisfy your curiosity and see if he was actually there or of it was a fault with the tracking system?

Basilisthebestherb · 07/11/2025 08:41

Report him for what?? Having a break?? Crikey if work tracked my car then they would find my car in pub carparks regularly.

I also drive a lot for work, hours from home, often absolutely nowhere else to pull over for a short break or toilet break than a pub - which sounds very much like the place your driver has also pulled over. As a lone female they never have any issue with me using their loo and I’ve often sat in their carparks having my lunch in my car - also often the only place I feel safe to pull over too, off the road.

Get a grip OP.

Are you the manager who told everyone that they have to wear a poppy or face disciplinary action?

SeaShellsSanctuary1 · 07/11/2025 08:55

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 19:32

Pub doesn’t sell food. It’s a tiny drinkers pub. Much more convenient places to stop.

It's got nothing to do with you and this is a good example of why being able to track people is bad. Probably coming to every conclusion bar the right one

There are a thousand reasons why he could be there and you dismiss 999 of them to only believe he's on the piss

Grammarnut · 07/11/2025 08:56

sosorryimnotsorry · 06/11/2025 19:33

He has been 35 mins so not a quick break. Pub doesn’t serve or sell food. Never has.
Not the type of place you would go for a snack or a coke.

35 minutes is a quick break. Time for a pee, buying a bag of crisps and eating them while scrolling the news etc. The driver is allowed breaks and to be safe he must have them. YABU. Why are you wasting time tracking him rather than working?

Sez1990 · 07/11/2025 08:58

The only way you would’ve known he was drinking / drink driving would be to go to the pub. And while you were there you could’ve shown your ID and asked for your parcel. If he was unprofessional enough to go drinking during his shift then he might’ve given it to you. But he might’ve just been going to the toilet or eating sandwiches in the van or having a nap. I think the first mistake was expecting the parcel to arrive when the delivery window had already passed. At that point if the van hadn’t moved I would’ve assumed he’s already clocked off or he’s got a mechanical problem. But I don’t think you can tell Amazon what he was doing as you are assuming and have no proof

I simply asked a question as to whether a pub is an appropriate place for a driver to take a break. Apparently according to Mumsnet it is. So there you go.

It does however breach amazons code of conduct for their drivers….

He could e delivered a bloody parcel to the pub then taken a break

I've never known a pub that doesn't sell at least nuts and crisps.

BerryTwister · 07/11/2025 07:37

When you first posted I was thinking you should cut the driver some slack, he was just having a break etc. But after he stayed so long and your delivery slot came and went, then I would have reported him. But actually I would have also driven to the pub myself to get the parcel if it was that important.

Reported for what?

silkypyjamas · 07/11/2025 09:15

I reckon he got drunk and couldn't be bothered to deliver the parcel and would never drink drive😜(secretly hoping that was the case)

Wendywooooo · 07/11/2025 09:24

This is one of the most unreasonable takes I have ever read on here.

Perhaps if you need something so vital to your business, don't rely on a last minute delivery.

LumpyandBumps · 07/11/2025 09:28

I haven’t read every post, but I hope the poor driver wasn’t taken ill and was unable to call for help.

amymel2016 · 07/11/2025 09:30

The entitlement OP 😮 he’s probably having a break! If you need something urgently for your business, be more organised and order earlier or get off your arse and go to the shops!!

Teenytwo · 07/11/2025 09:33

One of the owners has been inside several times for drugs and money laundering

and they can still get a licence?

DingDongJingle · 07/11/2025 09:35

sosorryimnotsorry · 07/11/2025 03:10

It’s the type of place you don’t go unless you know them. And no I doubt many go there primarily for a drink. God knows how they still open and have a license. One of the owners has been inside several times for drugs and money laundering. The type of place that make you uncomfortable even driving past. It is very well known round here.
You wouldn’t stop there for a break and sit in the van.

What have the owners got to do with the delivery driver though? How would he know their reputation? And if he did, I’m sure the pub still sells soft drinks!

An hour's lunch in a long day is perfectly reasonable.

Wow! Thanks for the feedback! Driver is still at the pub. It’s now been 1hr and 29 minutes since we first looked at the tracking.
I take drink driving extremely seriously and any member of staff here would be in trouble if they were caught at the pub on a break. Incidentally we are now 2hrs outside the delivery window which ended at 6:15.

You have no idea whether he parked up to use the loo, get water/coffee or simply sit in the car park to eat a sandwich.

You have no idea how long he has been there because the tracking data is not that reliable. Its common enough for the tracking data to show a van as static for ages then suddenly be outside my door.

Most of all - if you wanted urgent or business delivery then pay for it. If you want “free” delivery where the couriers are paid pennies for each drop then you put up with the two hour delivery window.

Moonlightfrog · 07/11/2025 09:41

Drivers have to take breaks….I think it’s every 4 hours. He’s probably entitled to a hour’s break/rest time same as anyone else working a full time job. I don’t understand tracking hose every move….it’s a bit weird 😬

DingDongJingle · 07/11/2025 09:41

How many times have you been in this pub OP?

Get a life. He’s not your employee. He’s most likely self employed and can do what he wants as long as he gets the job done 🤷‍♀️ who actually uses tracking anymore 🤣

ResusciAnnie · 07/11/2025 09:49

Also this is displaced anger - you should really be pissed off at yourself for not ordering supplies sooner. Whoops! Run your ‘business’ better to avoid future stress.

PollyBell · 07/11/2025 09:49

Maybe he is having an affair with someone behind the bar, omg it has to be stopped
