In the uk now?

I’m British but live in another European country, I want to move back but Dh is adamant it’s too dangerous and wouldn’t be the best for Dd
All I keep seeing on my Ig is all these attacks and frightening things, is this realistic where you are??
I am seeing all of Europe is becoming more dangerous, including where we are and it makes me worried

For some reason I’m developing a bit of anxiety about this, so want honest answers if possible 🙏

Not first time posting, name change. Back from work and halfway through reading them
all. Have to say I’m hugely relieved! It was worrying and depressing me to think there was no chance of coming back. I don’t go on X/Twitter, it’s on Instagram, I don’t follow the pages, my feed is usually music, kids things, memes, fashion, but recently I’ve noticed it creeping in more and last night was just one after another showing attacks and really quite disturbing things. Have to say it was other parts of Europe too, but uk was particularly bad. I did start to click on the top and say for it to not show me these, but went to bed feeing really anxious

You get your news from Instagram?

You think your algorithm is unbiased and only shows you facts?

It's quite obvious that social media has a tendency to show the worst of everything to get more clicks.

It's 2025, how are you still unaware of this?

If it helps I live in a rural area. The people in my extended circle of family, friends and acquaintances who've sadly died in the last ten years were:
At 90+ of old age
In 70s of heart attack
In 40s of cancer
And a teacher at the kids school sadly died in a road accident.

Local crime consists of kids riding their bikes the wrong side of the road and people nicking farm machinery/ trailers and recently a couple of caravans.

What's more depressing is that public services are not great in the last few years. Trains run but not always reliably, long waiting times for ambulance in peak areas/ at peak times. Same for some NHS treatment (not all). Schools and councils face continous budget cuts and lots of pot holes in the road (last one starting to improve slowly). But economic slowdown affects all countries eventually and I think certainly most EU countries have struggled given war in Ukraine etc.

Would definitely recommend the move assuming you have decent work prospects and don't be put off by social media algorithms.
