Tesco Xmas slots open at 6am 04/11 for delivery savers

When are we all logging in?
I’m ordering food to order from Durham which covers a massive area so slots always go quick.

I have done the Tesco online list so I can just slam the food to order through then plan to do the rest later.

I plan to login at 5amish on laptop.

The Christmas Eve deliveries must only be offered by some stores. Makes sense.

klkkjlapwjhdl · 04/11/2025 08:10

Do Tesco do this to stoke fever pitch? I switched to Sainsbury’s a few years ago. This year my reminder didnt flash up and I logged in end of the day and still got the slot I wanted, I don't understand why Tesco is such chaos unless they’re manufacturing it.

Toto0 · 04/11/2025 08:14

24th availability depends from store to store, was eyeing up some slots and plenty still available on 24th with in laws postcode but mine doesn’t do the 24th.

Onleemoi · 04/11/2025 08:18

I mean, I know I’ve got a slot on 24th. Just found it amusing that @Screwyoucolin insinuated I was making it up.

Shambles123 · 04/11/2025 08:47

I forgot until 10 mins ago and got 22nd eve. Would have preferred 23rd but not a massive compromise!

Anguauberwaldironfoundersson · 04/11/2025 08:49

Forgot all about it. Logged on when I got to work. All slots were still available for Christmas week.

DeanStockwelll · 04/11/2025 08:55

I was travelling to work at 6am so I logged in at about 7.30 , the app was a bit slow but I got all the slots I wanted with no issues.
All most all of the weekend slots in December were still available.

Am I missing something. What's wrong with just going to a supermarket the week / days before Christmas?

home deliveries aren’t new, some people find them more convenient for a whole range of reasons.

Can you really not think of a couple of reasons why people choose deliveries?

The same reason I don’t go into a supermarket every week. I save so much time and money having deliveries rather than spending about 2 hours of my life each week shopping in person.

HallowSwede · 04/11/2025 09:33

I got in after 5 minutes but kept getting error messages. I gave up and switched to the app which let me in after 50 minutes. Got there in the end but very frustrating.

Macinae · 04/11/2025 09:52

I didn't log in until gone 8am and latest I could get was 22nd. Checked back after 9 and managed to get one for the 23rd as people obviously panic book (like me) then cancel. Worth checking back for this reason

widewomanofthevillage · 04/11/2025 10:03

I didn't get the email reminder for this year so only looked when I saw this thread! Managed to get the 21st and not happy as this priority thing is the only reason I pay for Anytime rather than Midweek.

Not the end of the world I know, just needed to whinge a bit.

There are many reasons why people choose to have deliveries rather than shop in store, especially at very busy times.

Some of us are reliant on deliveries due to lack of transport or mobility issues.

I live in a village. My nearest large Tesco stores are 6 and 8 miles away. We no longer run a car because my elderly husband is waiting on a diagnosis of moderate to advanced Parkinson's disease. He is no longer safe to drive and his balance and mobility are so bad now that he struggles to get into a car let alone walk round a store.

Getting a taxi to the nearest store costs itro £35 there and back.

Surely you can think of other reasons why people have their weekly shop delivered?

DancingInTheMoonlights · 04/11/2025 10:23

I used to get up early every year to secure a slot but Tesco is so expensive now, I will just brave Aldi nearer the time.

You’re ‘missing’ that people shop in a way that suits them. There is nothing ‘wrong’ with going to a supermarket, it’s just not what everyone wants to do or can do. Home delivery is something supermarkets offer because it’s popular. If we all went to the supermarket, it would be busier for you, so be happy that some of us shop online.

Some of these comments. 😂

I’ve just done mine now as I can’t be bothered to get up for 6am, there were loads of slots. The battle for slots doesn’t seem to be a thing any more?

Depends where you live maybe, there is always a battle here just on a normal week. I got the slots I wanted this morning at around 6.30 ish and then I checked back out of curiosity about half an hour later, I didn't have to queue to get in then and all the Christmas week slots had been taken already. Tesco are the only to the door delivery service here, so it's always been a bit of a bun fight.
Morrisons deliver to a car park in the village but I don't like them.

PinkElephants356 · 04/11/2025 07:24

For anyone that’s interested I didn’t have a saver pass so couldn’t see Christmas slots but bought one today and then could see them and book a slot.

Ive followed someone’s advice on here that it’s best to do a morning one as less likely substitutions, I hope that’s correct?

Normally the advice to book a morning slot to avoid subs is correct but Christmas week that goes out of the window. I used to be a dot com manager and if you order a morning slot it will depend when it’s picked, could be on that morning or the night before. I wouldn’t book Christmas Eve either because if something is missing you’ll have time to go out and get it.

🤣 there are always these people on mumsnet who are shocked that people live their lives in a marginally different way than they do!

I swear they must live in a little bubble surrounded by people with the same thoughts, attitudes, routines, life circumstances. Health, family as them!

imagine them travelling to a country with a different culture - they would just explode😂

I had a stroke and am not allowed to drive, sorry if that’s an issue for you.

I just read this thread in my break, thought "shit I forgot" to myself, logged on and booked my usual Monday slot for 22nd Dec without any fuss at all. Nothing I get from a supermarket will be out of date by Christmas day so I don't see the point in claiming a slot any closer to Thursday.

Never again am I prepared to queue at 6am.

Because I have mobility issues. Hope that is OK with you. 🙄
