Mounjaro jabs! WWYD

I have just started mounjaro jabs and haven't told anyone at all. This may be a really stupid question but would you tell people or just say eating less/exercise. I have recently started at the gym after a long break so it wouldnt be unbelievable I guess.

It feels really deceitful, but then again its no ones business and they shouldn't really ask (IMO).

Im in the process of coming off mounjaro after losing 4 and a half stone since february. Ive been honest about it if asked. I just say ive been really trying to be healthy but ive had help from mounjaro. Not untrue because it won't work unless you are also putting the effort in.
Some people have been really rude in a bit of a sly way. However, i have lost weight in the past without it and people were rude then. People who genuinely care about you will be happier you are getting healthier. Just do whatever sits best with you. Hope it goes well!

DottyMcDiet · 01/11/2025 21:17

I’ve been asked directly a couple of times by nosy colleagues in public places within earshot of others and denied it! 🫣

Their self righteous reactions, such a saying that I’m doing it the ‘right way’ or ‘by yourself’ made me realise their intentions weren’t good in asking anyway.

Now I’ve lied to some people, I don’t know how I change that?

Jackiepumpkinhead · 01/11/2025 21:17

Only a handful of people know I use WLI. I just couldn’t be bothered with the ‘cheating’ comments or ‘you’ll regret it in 5 years when the side effects show’ 🙄. When people ask about my weight loss, I say I’m eating a better diet and now have a personal trainer, both true.

SoEasyToFall · 01/11/2025 21:18

I’m very open. Never had a single negative comment. Everyone around me is really supportive. I think it’s deceptive if you don’t tell the truth

That’s exactly what I do, and both are true.

TheZanyZebra · 01/11/2025 21:27

You just need to decide now what you want to reply if someone asks you: are you using the jabs?

I have had a few people saying, when complimenting on their weight loss, reply: ti's great isn't it, it's Mounjaro!

jelllyontheplate · 01/11/2025 21:32

I’ve not told anyone other than my husband and two close trusted friends. It’s none of anyone else’s business, you don’t need to tell anyone what medications you’re taking.
My closest work colleague/friend, who’s also a lifelong size 8, has made some very demeaning comments about other people we know who’ve been open about being on it. So I decided this is not something I’m willing to share with anyone else.

Sheknowsaboutme · 01/11/2025 21:41

What happens when people stop it? Do they get fat again?

NoSoupForU · 01/11/2025 21:42

Its up to you really. Generally it's pretty obvious for most people so it seems a bit daft to hide it. But equally it isn't really anyone's business.

MangoRose · 01/11/2025 21:46

You are all amazing, congratulations on your fantastic results!

Your replies have really helped me with feeling more positive about it.

Ive lost 4 stone on the jab. What I say depends on who im talking to but it doesnt really come up specifically.

OtherS · 01/11/2025 21:50

Of course you don't 'need' to tell anyone, but I think everyone will assume you are anyway and might think you're a bit odd if you 'lie' about it. I have a friend who I know very well is on them, as is her other half. It was always very obvious, but she says she lost about 3 stone in 2 months by 'just busy, running around'. Her husband lost about 6 stone at the same time. He obviously didn't know he was supposed to lie and happily told me when I bumped into him, which I haven't told her, but I just find it so strange that she's pretending. Does she really think I'd be rude to her about it? I find that pretty insulting tbh!

Not if they put the effort in to make real changes to their eating and lifestyle habits now.

Well I guess that really depends on the person.

I have always been naturally slim, put on 30lbs when I was pregnant with my 1st as I only felt ok when I was eating! I went to weight watchers and lost it all and didnt put it back on for 15 years. Lockdown hit and I have gradually put on more and more weight, lost the odd half stone before a holiday and put it straight back on again, just haven't been able to make a serious dent in it. I do feel that if I lose the weight I have put on in the last 5 years I will be able to keep it off as it's a mindset. I may be wrong.

How i maintained before was eating healthily all week, the odd treat if I fancied then whatever I wanted at weekends, that way the 1-2lb i may put on during the weekend was off by Wednesday. Lockdown was just one long weekend and my habits were ruined.

I've told nobody apart from my partner who is also on them. I've lost 6 stone and gey asked reguarly. I just say eating less and calorie counting which is true!

NikkiPotnick · 01/11/2025 21:52

Formerly obese people are more likely than not to regain weight once they stop doing the thing that made them lose it. Bodies that used to be obese don't play fair!

Yes this is the thing, it isn't untrue is it. If I had lost 6 stone I'm not sure I'd care what anyone said, its amazing!

I think lying about this is not fair to others who are struggling with their weight - they will see you being successful from “ more exercise and less food” and will wonder why it is not working for them.

MangoRose · 01/11/2025 21:56

jelllyontheplate · 01/11/2025 21:50

Not if they put the effort in to make real changes to their eating and lifestyle habits now.

When I am consistent at the gym I tend to eat better but more recently my mental health hasn't been great and I seem to be sabotaging my efforts. I feel so much more positive about food already. I am sure I will be able to keep it off (if I lose it).

People will know. So many people I know are on them. I am amazed at the people who state that they are now losing weight from ‘healthy eating and exercise’ yet haven’t been able to for ten years. Just be honest

And that is why I am feeling uncomfortable about it. However generally more exercise and less food does work on its own, for me I currently do not have the motivation to be able to do it on my own, hence getting the jabs. Doesn't mean it isn't possible, people have been doing it for years. I have a friend who lost 10st (before jabs) just through slimming world and exercising regularly.

Why is it unfair, everyone has a choice to take it or not? I do eat less, eat healthier and exercise more as its easier carrying less weight. Why is that unfair!!??

That may then lead them to actually consider using WLI, as that's exactly why I decided to start using WLI - because I had never been successful at losing sufficient weight in the past. I didn't need a specific person to tell me that they had lost weight using WLI in order for me to be able to decide to use them. I had the ability to work that out for myself. Anyone else would be able to do the same.
