Andrew and social services

AIBU to wonder if social care have become involved with Andrew Mountbatten’s daughters and Grandchildren? And if not, why not?
he’s clearly a sex offender of a very young woman and I’m not sure but possibly a paedophile. I guess he’s not been charged with anything as yet so that probably answers my question. Just sitting here and thinking about how different life would be for him if he’d lived in an ordinary family

And he was the only one, was he?

We all know that it was massive, involved a lot of girls and a lot of men. Who are hiding in plain sight while everyone demands Andrew loses everything.

Did I say he was the only one? No I didn’t.

But he was one of them. And he is British and we are in Britain. He was also tax payer funded, part of the RF that historically has been looked up to so of course Britain is going to be interested in him.

I hope others are also held to account and lose everything, they’re scum, but I have an issue with people who don’t just seem to want others held accountable, they actually want to minimise what Andrew has done. You have to question the morals and intentions of anyone justifying Andrew and pointing at others in a bid to take the heat off him.

PollyBell · 01/11/2025 09:54

Why on earth would social services be involved?

beatingandbearing · 01/11/2025 09:54

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 01/11/2025 09:51

Naive.
A good man would have looked at Virginia and said. You don’t have to do this. Which makes him a rapist. Andrew spent £££’s on prostitues in Thailand. How old were they????

Sure but I didn’t say ‘Andrew is a good man’, did I?

Do you really think social services says ‘hmm you’re not a good man, let’s stop you seeing your grandchildren?’ Do you?

sesquipedalian · 01/11/2025 09:56

“he’s clearly a sex offender of a very young woman and I’m not sure but possibly a paedophile.”

I’ve never read such nonsense.

  1. At seventeen, it is not illegal to have a sexual relationship.
  2. He denies the allegations.
  3. He is not and has never been accused of being a paedophile.

What on earth would “social care” have to do with his adult daughters and their husbands? Quite apart from the fact that one of his daughters lives abroad, don’t you think they’re quite capable of looking after their own children? It has never, ever been suggested that Prince Andrew is anything other than a devoted father and grandfather. As for “thinking about how different life would be for him if he’d lived in an ordinary family”, all of our lives would have been different had we lived in a different family. Prince Andrew has been shown to be entitled and ill-advised, but the witch hunt against him, and the baying mob howling for retribution is nothing short of vindictive.

What has pissed me off is that I haven’t minimised what Andrew has done.

But if he is to be held to account about what he’s done we have to be clear about what he has done, which is to do with morals and character rather than the law as it currently stands.

We expect more from him; we should (imo) expect more from men generally. But it’s pointless making things up. That gives him and any supporters he has (not that I think there are many) a curtain to hide behind.

DafthaporthsWife · 01/11/2025 09:52

This is so spot on. I can’t stand him and in no way think he’s got any less than he deserves but the world seems absolutely focused on him, and not who else is involved with possibly far more disgusting behaviours and actions.

No, the world isn’t focused on him, but Britain is because he is British. We are not the world. I have family in the US and they’re not so bothered about Andrew, they want their own held accountable. Of course there will be interest all over the world because of the commonwealth, the history of Britain and the fact there is always interest in the Royals.

PracticalPixie · 01/11/2025 10:01

beatingandbearing · 01/11/2025 08:33

I think in an ordinary family someone once paying for sex with someone of legal age it would barely even be noticed. Andrew has been all over the news because he’s a royal; on this particular occasion his standing in society has worked against him.

I agree with this, and I am no fan of the royal family and especially not of Prince Andrew.

It was definitely worse than "paying for sex", because Virginia Giuffre was trafficked. However, a number of young sex workers are trafficked and that isn't made clear to paying clients. Proving he knew is the bit which is difficult.

I also think most anonymous men who use sex workers know there is a risk they are trafficked, but they simply don't care.

Livelovebehappy · 01/11/2025 10:03

I absolutely abhor what Andrew has done. And I agree wholeheartedly with him losing his titles and his large subsidised mansion. But…I actually think this is all turning into a witch hunt. It seems people are not really going to be happy until he is visited by social workers, face a trial and be imprisoned for life. He sounds an awful, arrogant self entitled twat, but being an awful human being isn’t against the law. What he did though with the Epstein incident was appalling, and I honestly think we should now just leave it there - he’s received what probably to him is a humiliating substantial punishment because status is everything to him, and it now lies in the gutter.

Andrew has certainly dominated the BBC news for a while now, to the point where I’m starting to wonder if it is counterproductive. The problem with these sorts of things is that they can run the risk of going so far the other way that amongst a certain type of person sympathy can start to be generated.

It would really be better if he was allowed to fade into obscurity and if we were able to have proper adult conversations about wealthy men and young girls.

I was actually looking through the book in Waterstones the other day (I couldn’t look at it for long as I had my young children with me) and I hope Virginia is at peace now. I hope things change. I really genuinely do. But … they won’t if we make shit up, to be very blunt about it.

RosesAndHellebores · 01/11/2025 10:05

What surproses me most is the air time being given to the Giuffre family. When a teenage girl gets mixed up with this sort of crap one has to ask why and her abuse and misuse certainly wouldn't have started with Epstein. Why is nobody after the parents who should have cared for and protected her?

Andrew is an arrogant and not very bright twit with the emotional intelligence of a gnat. That doesn't make him a paedophile or a rapist and it's notable that neither of his daughters have kicked off against him or other family members.

There are bigger secrets being covered up by a smokescreen if you ask me.

And why shouldn't he lose everything? If you lie down with dogs then you get fleas.

Yes, of course all the other people need to be held to account too. But you can think that whilst also feeling Andrew got what he deserved.

beatingandbearing · 01/11/2025 10:10

I don’t think I have said at any point ‘Andrew has not got what he has deserved.’

I do think there is a risk of the tide of public outrage shifting. That inevitably happens when one person is reported on almost exclusively. People talk about it and (as can be seen here) we risk a sort of ‘well yes he’s this and that but he surely is not THAT bad’ which can turn to sympathy, especially if that extends to his daughters.

The majority will have no sympathy for him, I don’t think we should change of behaviours for the sort of people that will feel sympathy with him.

We can keep the heat on him and have those conversations.

I have read the book, not just flicked through it.

I agree.
The Robertson family interviews repeatedly shown on BBC are uncomfortable. The quote "This normal girl from a normal family has taken down a prince. We are so proud of her”. The tears.

No mention of their highly dysfunctional family and predatory, paedophile father, or the many powerful US citizens and those from around the world who are involved.
VG talked of a billionaire who bought her services, why hasn't he and his wife been ‘taken down’ or Donald Trump.

Bring down a part of the UK monarchy but also bring down American politics and business.

No support for Andrew at all. He is a sleaze, but he hasn't broken the law.

Ah, you’re doing a Simon and trying to discredit what I’m saying by suggesting I’m personal besties with them? Hardly.

So look at above. Andrew should be investigated by social services. Majority of posts are saying no, he shouldn’t, don’t be ridiculous.

I am saying that the more people come out with this sort of stuff (including the media) the more Andrew is going to end up being ‘defended.’

On this thread, I have said that there is a difference between morally reprehensible and illegal and that had Andrew not been a Royal, his mistreatment of Virginia (and probably others) wouldn’t have even been commented on.

I have been accused of supporting him, of having a family who habitually abuse young girls or something and of ‘hanging out’ with Andrew supporters. See how it goes? Division and conflict. While Andrew slopes off with his millions; he’s fine.

Let him slide into obscurity and let’s have a proper conversation about wealth, power and sex.

InLoveWithAI · 01/11/2025 10:19

I am genuinely shocked at the comments on this thread.

Seems some can really do no wrong in some eyes.

He knew what was going on. He went to that island. They all knew.

Trafficked people can not give consent.

I’m just repeating myself on them now so feel on a loop, tbh.

Suffice to say, there does appear to be a sourced suggestion that Andrew has been involved in a friendship network of sex traffickers.

I wouldn’t want him around my children, no. He has no moral filters.

This is nothing, on one of the other Andrew threads someone tried to claim that he had also been groomed by Epsteine and was every inch a victim as Virginia Giuffre.

Shineonyoucrazy · 01/11/2025 10:28

Social Services protect children whose parents or carers cannot do so. What makes you think that his Grandchildren, who are small children, need protecting from him? He has no known history of paedophilia. Rather nasty, salacious post.

There has never been any suggestion whatsoever that he's a pedophile. Don't be ridiculous.

He was accused of sexual abuse on the basis that he had sex with someone who had been trafficked for sex, who did not want to be. There's never been any suggestion that he forced, threatened or compelled that person into sex. But by virtue of the fact that she did not consent to being trafficked for sex, that is abuse.

The things he did, and the people he did them with, are morally repugnant, and he deserves everything he's getting and more. But to suggest that he's a pedophile and a danger to his children/grandchildren tells me that you don't know what that word means.

NoMoreBrownSofas · 01/11/2025 10:30

God if you think social services would be acting on any of this you've led a very very sheltered life. Have you not ever read any of the reportings of children murdered in this country? Children beaten so badly they are concussed in front of social workers and still nothing is done? children so hungry they are stealing food from school and still being sent home to die? Toddlers clearly raped by their fathers before they are murdered and fathers getting off through lack of evidence?

Andrew is an entitled, arrogant arsehole. He has no moral scruples and is in love with the idea of himself. But no one can prove that he did or didn't break the law. He's had his titles removed. Done. End of. Move on.

Quite. It's about time this subject was wound down. Every day there are new threads about it and it has become rather boring. Let sleeping dogs lie.
