To be very impressed by this coach drivers zero tolerance stance?

Travelling home on a National Express coach this morning.

When we had all boarded, the driver did a couple of safety announcements and then she said "Headphones must be used if you're watching or listening to anything on this coach, nobody else wants to hear your music, and believe me I won't hesitate to stop at a service station and make you get off if you ignore this".

Someone near the front just started having a conversation on loudspeaker and the driver immediately yelled "turn that off please, you all heard what I said before we departed Victoria" Grin Loudspeaker was switched off and peace reigns again.

I might actually email NX and tell them how much I appreciate her, in the hope that they encourage all their drivers to take the same stance.

I assume the no solids down the loo request is asking people to be courteous so if they can wait until the next services stop then do so. If a medical emergency then you would have no choice but to use the loo.

Fantastic! I can’t bear it when people have their phones on without headphones. I have asked people to turn off/put headphones on as it’s such a horrible noise.

Dont people go before they go out.

Oh come on, any free thinking adult will know that sometimes people get caught short, or suffer from IBS etc.

But yes I agree, it can be very unpleasant.

For the vast majority, it's a matter of common sense and planning ahead. I've been on coaches where people have used the loo immediately after a rest stop. No-one minds if its a real emergency.

@BingBongBish , my apologies, I you are right, I did not see your correction.

Never mind Nanny No Dumps; I'm getting Viz Parkie vibes from some on here, à la "DID YOU DO A SHITE IN MY BOG?!!"

Excellent! I was on a full coach trip a few months ago. One of the passengers started watching a film on her iPad at full blast. I was several rows begins and could hear it. Everyone was huffing and puffing so I stood up and shouted ‘oy you, our headphones in please none of us want to hear your film thank you very much.’
She did but I really couldn’t understand how she thought it was in any way acceptable.

Yes they do. On my last trip the driver announced that he would be buying a toilet brush as someone had made a big mess in the loo. It stunk out the coach, too. Most people can wait to use the services. This was a kid in a hurry.

That was fucking mean of the driver then, wasn't it.

Bet that couple were never late for another bus. Why should everyone else be late because of that couples inability to be on time

I was wondering the same thing.
It's an odd thing for the driver to say.
It's not like they have to clean the loos themselves.

Actually, the drivers do have to clean the loo. At least where my DH worked they did. Coach cleaners aren't a thing at most places. The disgusting stuff people left gor him to deal with was unbelievable.

Hurrah, excellent driver, glad you sent the appraising feedback to the company.

I was at a swanky spa hotel this summer, there were very clear signs saying no audio from devices is allowed including conducting phone calls on speaker. But of course there was one who did exactly that, a phone call on loud speaker whilst standing in the middle of the small pool (wtf). In no time a member of staff materialised and asked her to stop. I was very impressed!

"No-one minds if it's a real emergency".

But they do, don't they? As is evidenced in this thread because how does anyone know if it was a 'real' emergency or not?

IBS sufferers for example may well have taken a dump during the rest stop, but sometimes need to go again half an hour later.

My ex husband used to suffer from IBS and it can be quite unpredictable.

So impossible to judge whether it's a 'real emergency' or a much needed second trip.

I love that, I’m so sick of people playing stuff through speakers, use headphones or have it on mute.
