Anyone can claim asylum in any country they want.

Since claiming asylum is legal, what laws are the gangs organising asylum seekers’ journeys breaking?
If they aren’t breaking any laws how can Starmer ‘smash’ them?

HRTQueen · 25/10/2025 21:23

people are aware that in many countries life is very hard

the issue is life here has got significantly harder for many people (I am not suggesting it is worse) and resources being cut impacts those who have less disposable income/live in poorer areas. And let’s have a guess where most asylum seekers are placed

we are we expecting people who have had their lives made so much harder in recent years to be so charitable

Looking at the options:
Labour - simply don't think through the consequences of their actions eg you can't grow the economy by raising taxes
Conservatives- too much historical baggage from 14 years in power. That said I don't Sunak was that bad but the damage had already been done by Brexit, Boris and Liz the Lettuce.
Liberals - from a personal note this is where my sympathies would lie. But honestly other than saying that they aren't the other guy whether that be Trump or Reform, they don't seem to have any actual policies which is horrific for the third largest party.
Greens - their policies and under funding would completely destroy the economy and they are basically far left.

Which leaves Reform with simple sound bites (but no detail) and under funded policies that are second only to the Greens.

As I have been saying for many years now. People still don't seem to understand that the situation in the middle East and Africa is pretty shit, and getting worse all the time. The numbers of people wanting / needing to leave will just increase. Putting our fingers in our areas and trying to pull the drawbridge up just will not work.

why is it always the UK’s problem though

So you accept we’ll have much higher numbers. Do we just accept more horrendous outcomes as for Rhiannon and her family? Why is that not something that matters to you

Because people don't want to live in poor countries and rich countries have welfare systems. So they move and to be honest if I was in their position then I would try and do the same thing.

Yes we do but the way it’s going we will be becoming a 3rd world ourselves especially when they take out but don’t pay in. Where does this end.

perhaps they should try and improve their own countries

GutsyBee · 25/10/2025 22:43

Do you mean the media trying to destroy Labour?

And nobody thought Brexit would win but here we are expect the unexpected when people are fed up and scared.

We can be fooled once.

Reform will only bring more chaos because the idl men.will think they got all rights of beating up the foreigner, then the terrorist part between the foreigner will be acting up badly even more.

Any chance of a translation? 🤣

After ww2 the UK was bombed to smithereens.
We didn't all say ,fuck it ..let's leave and find another country not in ruins .
Everyone pulled together and rebuilt it ..it took many years ,but no one decided another country was a better bet

That's an absolutely ludicrous comparison. How on earth are those two scenarios even remotely comparable?

No, Reform will win the next election because of the lamebrains who throw their hands up and insist it's inevitable. Evil prevails while good people do nothing. And they are evil. As is anyone who votes for them.

Starconundrum · 26/10/2025 03:38

They don't seem to be doing too well in actual elections, even when their polling figures are high.

The only thing reform (in their multiple guises) have won in 20 years is Brexit and that's a shit show that has cost way more than they themselves say they'd save if they deported the immigrants. They have said they'd save 1.9 million a year. They bloody promised 350 million a week if Brexit won! Where's that?!

And Brexit only won as farage was so shit at being an MEP that he could use the data from him fucking it up (and propaganda ) to convince people it was the eu, not him.

Starconundrum · 26/10/2025 03:57

Winterrobin5 · 26/10/2025 03:22

How are they evil

Well they stood outside a property housing unaccompanied asylum seekers and told them they were all rapists today for a start.

Kids.

From countries at war.

And then what? Reform voters will get pissed off that those kids dont like them?! And use it as evidence that these kids are bad?

I'd say that pretty evil.

I don't think reform was involved in Brexit
Reform is more than just NF

Outside a home for kids.

You see no problem with that?

See this is why I can't argue with you, your morality is so far removed from mine.

I couldn't do that to kids.

Yes their countries are poor with a low quality of life. They can see the West thanks to internet etc as wasn’t the case in times past and they can see how much better it is. It’s easy to travel now. Why would they not want to come here? Wouldn’t you rather live in Epping than Chad?

It’s actually terrifying if you think about it. I think in the future we will have to lock ourselves down to survive. I feel awful saying that as on an individual level it’s nice to help people in need but we can’t take the numbers who would want to live here if it’s whole countries that are failing.

I’m never quite sure how this the “send them back” calls are meant to work. Don’t the majority of illegal immigrants come with no papers so no way of telling where they’re from? So how can you send them back anywhere?

Obvious - by removing the incentive to come here illegally in the first place through strong enforcement, detention.

Asylum claim rejected out of hand if you have entered illegally as doing so is a crime by definition.

Zero prospect of British citizenship or permanent residency for the rest of your life.

All future visa applications automatically rejected.

Pragmatic incentives to return. If the choice is languish in a detention centre or co-operate with authorities and receive some support to return to your country of birth/residency, many will choose the latter eventually.

It used to work. Pre 2011 the UK was deporting 60k+ people per year. It’s nonsense for people to claim it cannot work again.

I didnt say that btw, I was quoting another poster.

I personally don't think reform supporters are necessarily evil, but I think some of their actions are. I certainly don't think the supporters have their critical synapses operating at full capacity.
