Why don't Labour just smash the gangs?

Come from France ,a safe country.
They can be sent back there
God knows we pay the french enough money to stop them ..

And when France refused to accept them??

I'm somewhat convinced that 1. The Tories knew they'd fucked up massively and intentionally threw the last election to drop the bags on Starmer and do damage control on their reputations. And 2. Labour have now realised how royally fucked up the situation is and that some decisions that would previously have been seen as radical or extreme are going to have to be made - yet they don't want to be the ones to make them. They’re ideologically opposed and can’t square the circle.

It would be a relief for both parties if neither were the ones in power next election.

I actually think this situation is hitting the nail on the head .
And I don't think Nigel actually wants the responsibility of PM ..he often doesn't turn up for work as it is .
My worry is green will get in ..which once upon a time I'd of been thrilled with ..but now I feel it would be a disaster .
I don't think conservatives,or Labour are capable of difficult decisions, and I don't think Nigel wants the responsibility..I think he likes causing drama ,but I don't think he is relishing the thought of being PM ...my son was showing me some social media, where people pay Nigel large amounts of money to say rediculous things ...and I just thought..that's not someone taking politics seriously..and it will end up resurfacing in the event he ends up PM.
I've said before on here ...I have absolutely no idea who I will vote for next time ..but I am very very unhappy about immigration currently

with any luck reform will get in. We need to become a country like Poland

Poland is in the eec….fartage & his cronies were the cause of brexit…I’m not sure what your point is.

Farage gave an interview recently and said that Reform will be using the navy to stop the boats. He said former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott implemented a military-led operation called Operation Sovereign Borders in 2013, which used the navy to intercept and turn back boats carrying asylum seekers. The operation dramatically reduced boat arrivals, with only a few dozen reaching Australia in the years following its implementation.

Turned back to where?

Anywhere but here.

Constant threads banging on about how Reform are going to win the next election are coming across as astroturfing.

Especially threads started by new posters who then never return.

No illegal migration what so ever and now the bill signed for zero personal income tax for parents of two or more children. Great stuff

Mimph · 25/10/2025 13:24

I think the news yesterday with the top two stories being about asylum seekers would make even those most strongly against the anti-immigration stance think that Reform and Nigel Farage had a point.

Pharazon · 25/10/2025 13:38

LavenderBlue19 · 25/10/2025 09:37

And how exactly do you think they should do that? What's Reform's great plan? Do bear in mind it needs to be legal...

It doesn’t need to be legal. The rule of law is an illusion, as Trump’s government is amply demonstrating. I have no doubt that a Reform government will simply ignore the courts (and Parliament) and do whatever they want.

Which is precisely why they should never be anywhere near power!

And when France refused to accept them??

Why are they allowed to refuse them, when that is where they came from .
France is safe .they can make a life there .
Just less niceties than UK

Because we left the EU.

Because we left the EU.

Ok
So we are not bound by EU rules then .. therefore we can send them back to be Frances problem.
I assume that's what reform will do anyway

And what happens when France refuse to receive them?

Onmytod24 · 25/10/2025 14:25

Reform won’t win the next election. It gets to 33% and then is stuck.

Who is sending people back within the EU anyway? To any extent that resolves this issue. Have you noticed the news in Dublin on this?

How does ‘sending them back’ to a country that won’t accept them work in practice? You need to have a return agreement in place before you can physically return people to a country. This is why we can’t return anyone failed asylum seekers to Afghanistan at the moment.

We are paying France to diddly squat
Should stop paying them any money at all

HRTQueen · 25/10/2025 15:09

Unless things improve economically, standard of living improves for the majority and we have less people coming into the country either on visas or claiming asylum I fear Reform have a very good chance of winning if they don’t implode

they will use straight forward slogans how it shall be implemented won’t matter to many voters as what is in place and has been in place isn’t working for too many

The easy solution is to withdraw benefits..
Basically even if granted asylum, they can't claim anything..no housing ,no money ,no disability benefits
And stop using hotel and houses and having them roam the streets, but use old army barracks or disused prisons ,..there's a floating ship that the army used ,but yet it's not good enough for asylum seekers
So stay and build life here if you can support yourself.. but no financial help will be offered.
I expect boat crossings with stop immediately

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 25/10/2025 15:16

I'm almost at the point now where I think it might be time to lance the boil. Let Reform win and let their idiot supporters feel the pain when they realise how monumentally stupid they have been.

But then I fear that that might not realise things might just spiral further into chaos. And I worry about how many innocent people will suffer.

The problem is not that the Reform voters will make life terrible for themselves. Frankly, they deserve whatever chaos is coming. The problem is that they will drag others down with them. I feel very sorry for those who will not have anywhere else to go.

Pontins is empty these days.

But exactly. No money given zero. No hotels with three meals a day.

Ex military bases not good enough for them but good enough for military. Pfft.

If you want to willingly come here support yourself. NHS included in that stance.
