I know a country which stopped the migrants completely. The migrants started killing the police at the border....which provided their government with the decision to migrants proof the relevant border.

Reform holds 0 power border proof an open sea

Farage gave an interview recently and said that Reform will be using the navy to stop the boats. He said former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott implemented a military-led operation called Operation Sovereign Borders in 2013, which used the navy to intercept and turn back boats carrying asylum seekers. The operation dramatically reduced boat arrivals, with only a few dozen reaching Australia in the years following its implementation.

I wouldn’t call China or UAE a ‘normal country’…

Whats wrong with them? What’s wrong with China? Racist.

Reform aren't in power yet , yet their speeches bring up the Muslims to more and more hatred which shows up now. Imagine after that , if they win. There will be mini civil wars in places like Birmingham etc

The government should look what's happening i Ireland at the moment and act now before the mob starts behaving the same way

LoisGriffinskitchen · 25/10/2025 11:30

Tbh this is a fuck up by Chelmsford prison and a now suspended prison officer.

Nothing to do with politics unless you count decades of poor funding. They should have held him until immigration arrived ri deport him. instead he was taken to the station and he went to London where many asylum seekers want to go,

He will now disappear into the gig economy because nobody stops that for fear of pissing off the big money being earned by those at the top,

Unless they pick him up rapidly he is here for a while.

This is really sad and idiotic - this cock up is due to the fucked up prison system, not anything else, the same prison system that was fucked up by Tories during their time in power and still have not been properly fixed by Labour.

And if you think that Reform can organise or fix anything - you are being delusional. These guys are not politicians, they are inexperienced, disorganised and not interested in practicalities - they would not be able to run a garden centre, never mind a country...Look at what is happening at the councils where they were elected. They have done absolutely nothing to improve anything, its actually worth than what it was before they came to power. They are often dont even live in their constituency, and are not even around.

I haven't heard a single policy from them that was not related to immigration or some other "hot" topic. How are they going to improve prisons, schools, the NHS? I bet they would simply sell everything to the highest bidder and disappear over the horizon, ala Boris.

Give me a boring old school politician any day... I dont even massively care what party. Just an experienced, intelligent and sensible adult who cares about the nitty gritty, not about some bullshit shouted at some protest rally.

If Reform were in power he wouldn’t have been let in in the first place and put up in a four star hotel free to roam around and sexually assault children would he!

Having lived near the Bell Hotel for many years I can assure you it has never been a 4 star hotel!

I think what is concerning is that this was a relatively high profile prisoner so news of the error has leaked. I can imagine in such an underfunded service, errors of this kind are not uncommon, we just don't usually hear about them.

I dont see how voting for more austerity policies and yet more cuts to public services will help with matters like this OP.

Or voting for a load of people with zero experience of managing even a piss-up in a brewery. However, the example given IS probably going to encourage people to vote for Reform, unfortunately.

spoonbillstretford · 25/10/2025 11:52

They will win it if the media carries on in the way it does now with its moral panic over race or immigration.

The prison system and any public services would be far worse with Reform. They care about public services or helping the less well off in society far less than the main parties, and don't have a magic money tree.

KTheGrey · 25/10/2025 11:56

Certainly adding to the likelihood Labour won’t. Hapless bunch.

howrudeforme · 25/10/2025 11:59

Weird that where prison service releasing prisoners either to freedom or other secure services that a person with large publicity as a criminal ‘migrant’ that is accidentally let free.

Almost like we’ve had no civil disruption for a month and we need more. Not totally buying this is govt failure but rather a stooge helping the far right. Strange that Farage has been unusually measured in his response.

‘Moral panic’ would you use that line with Rhiannon’s family and five year old son?

Racist? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’ve spent time in China. They have a dictatorial government, there is no democracy. The term limits for presidency were scrapped a few years ago.

And not to mention the few human rights in China. You can go and go your own research though if you want to be pathetic and play the race card.

I thought there was a bit more to that than just a bit of show of force by using the Navy though..didn't Aus also have a deal with Indonesia and/or PNG to accept vessels/individuals returned to their shores?

I thought the main problem the UK had/has is the lack of any meaningful return agreement with anyone, not the colour of the uniform of those doing policing of the channel.

He''ll get picked up when he commits another crime as they'll have his DNA/fingerprints. A criminal like that won't stay straight for long. Just pity the poor girl/women he attacks next. Until he gets caught for another offence, he'll indeed disappear into the gig economy for the benefit of people wanting their cars washed or their takeaways done ridiculously cheaply!

BoredZelda · 25/10/2025 12:09

If it is, that’s bloody ridiculous.

What are you on about?

I didn’t bring up China or the UAE.

Another poster referred to them first as “normal countries”. I simply responded to them and said “I wouldn’t call China or the UAE a normal country”.

Sorry I am just genuinely confused at what you are trying to show me….?

RoseAlone · 25/10/2025 12:12

Heaven forbid they get anywhere close. It would be a travesty and extremely dangerous

If Reform were in power he wouldn’t have been let in in the first place and put up in a four star hotel free to roam around and sexually assault children would he!

He probably would, yeah. We don't have a massive amount of evidence to go on, but what evidence we do have suggests that Reform are incapable of running a bath, let alone a country.

Anyone can talk a big game, especially on hot button topics where people are desperate for easy answers. But what's giving people the confidence that they'd actually be able to practically follow through on the things they say they'll do?

Farage has made a political career off making promises he knows he'll never have to personally keep...what makes people think he's changed now?

EmeraldRoulette · 25/10/2025 12:14

@GelatoForMe a country where illegal immigrants killed border police?! Which country is that?

spoonbillstretford · 25/10/2025 12:14

EasternStandard · 25/10/2025 11:59

‘Moral panic’ would you use that line with Rhiannon’s family and five year old son?

It's a horrible case and wholly incompetent of the prison service. Bur the focus on immigration issues and race in general is completely disproportionate and a moral panic.
