It is more important to some people to not appear racist, or to not let people deemed racist to have a “win” - either a debate “win”, a political “win” or a moral “win” - than it is to deal with harm to women and girls. Women and girls will always be pushed down the pecking order when it comes to people’s moral signalling. It’s the prevailing attitude in Khan, posters here, other politicians, media organisations.
