Motherfucking fireworks

How is this allowed past 8pm, I don't understand.

Cat is terrified, kid took 2 hours to get to sleep only to be woken up 10 min ago by more frigging fireworks.

how on earth is this still allowed??

I hate this time of year.

It's f** triggering. These twats should go and help in Gaza, I'm sure they would not be firing frigging fireworks after that experience !!

thanks for listening :( :( :(

I have fond memories of Bonfire Night fireworks and bonfires with my family as a child, back when 5th November was a bigger deal than it is now. We did the whole burning the guy thing that has mostly been done away with for being too weird.

I'd be sad to see Bonfire Night completely done away with, as at least one commenter has suggested. We barely have any national days in this country as it is.

I think only quieter fireworks should be sold. And public events organisers should consider investing in drone displays instead of fireworks if they have the funds.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Sikhs are celebrating Diwali today (Bandi Chor) whereas Hindus and Jains celebrated it yesterday.

Yeah - we've had it again all evening. Sick of it now.

SheSpeaks · 22/10/2025 00:12

I’m sitting in bed listening to the fireworks now and it’s past midnight, they started tonight at about 10pm.

All summer I think they are for weddings? Every day often during daylight?

As I say lots are just the noisemakers, no sparkles. I think they call them barrages?

OonaStubbs · 22/10/2025 00:29

Fireworks should be banned except for organised displays.

Maddy70 · 22/10/2025 00:44

Diwali?

It's lovely. Why so miserable? Do you celebrate bonfire night? New year's eve?

Firefly1987 · 22/10/2025 03:08

Every night here but very short-lived maybe only going off for 10 mins or so. Still annoying and super loud (we don't even have very close neighbours) but at least it's not for long. Problem is they'll be going off almost nightly for the rest of the year and it's really overkill. I'll be bloody sick of them by Bonfire night!

Evergreen21 · 22/10/2025 03:31

I understand that they will be lit for Diwali, bonfire night and Chinese new year. On those nights I can preempt the noise yet I still think they should be within a certain time frame and this should be enforced.

It's when they are unpredictable that it is worse. We have had fireworks set off in our small ex mining town since the start of October. We are in Scotland and there is known hooliganism/anti social behaviour around bonfire night but this has just started early. We are on an estate of new build houses where sadly most gardens back on to several others. There just isn't the space to do fireworks in your own garden safely here. We end up with loads of fireworks paraphernalia in our garden. Last year I found the neighbours cat shivering under my trampoline, as soon as I opened my back door she ran in and cowered under my kitchen table. For the last 3 weeks my 4 year old has woken up crying due to fireworks and has been too scared to sleep in her own room as they go on for at least 2 hours. We have an ex soldier opposite who is struggling too, I bought him and dd2 noise cancelling headphones and hopefully they will help somewhat.

I think there shoukd be a consultation around banning them outside of organised displays.

Yes but not every night and till late when people are trying to sleep

grizzlyoldbear · 22/10/2025 18:39

Agree, totally anti social

SaratogaFilly · 22/10/2025 18:50

I love fireworks and as long as they’re within the bounds of the law, then they should be allowed. Everyone these days just moans constantly & no one is allowed to have fun. You know the time of year it is, protect your animals & comfort them, don’t ruin everyone else’s fun just because you don’t like something.

OonaStubbs · 22/10/2025 22:01

IMO a lot of fireworks are set off by drug dealers signalling to their "customers" that a new shipment is in.

In your opinion, or is it a fact?

More fool you, if you put animals above humans living their lives.

What a disgusting view, to put humans having fun (who have other options to do so) over animals suffering (who have no option to avoid the fireworks).

cobrakaieaglefang · 10/11/2025 17:18

Today, 4pm, broad daylight, take my dog out, some twat let off a firework. Nov 5th great, fine, expected, 10th daylight no.

It's part of the cult of victimhood imo - people present as victims in order that their views are amplified.

OonaStubbs · 11/11/2025 00:35

Refugees from war-torn countries must be terrified by the fireworks going off. Why can't they be banned? Surely the government doesn't make that much in tax from them?

HauntedBungalow · 11/11/2025 00:51

Dear god. Of all the witless whining cant we get about fireworks every year, this co-opting of people who experience PTSD and in particular PTSD from war is one of the most grating. PTSD is a complex and long lasting manifestation of unprocessed trauma that when left untreated seeps into every aspect of daily life where the slightest physical apprehension eg hint of smell, change in light pattern or bodily sensation can provoke a trauma response. It does not generally present as cowering under the table when a firework is lit. Most people with PTSD aren't bothered by fireworks at all. They can be, conversely, very bothered indeed by fools professing to speak for them when those fools understand nothing about the condition and are in fact using them for a separate, unrelated agenda.

My grandfather came here after WW2 as part of the Polish army. He passed when I was a toddler, but according to my gran, he went to hide when he first heard fireworks as he assumed it was bombs. I don't know if he reacted badly after that, or if it was just the unexpectedness that upset him.

Goggling it seems lots of vets hate unexpected noise of any kind more than planned fireworks per se. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it though, if I were you. It clearly IS a problem for some.
