Motherfucking fireworks

How is this allowed past 8pm, I don't understand.

Cat is terrified, kid took 2 hours to get to sleep only to be woken up 10 min ago by more frigging fireworks.

how on earth is this still allowed??

I hate this time of year.

It's f** triggering. These twats should go and help in Gaza, I'm sure they would not be firing frigging fireworks after that experience !!

thanks for listening :( :( :(

I completely agree. Why they aren't illegal, I do not know.

OwlBeThere · 21/10/2025 01:33

What I dont understand is why they can’t just sell the ones that don’t make all the noise?
The noise is what scares animals and kids, the fireworks could still be had without the noise…so why are we not just doing that??

???? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lady Mary, otherwise known as Viscountess of the Honourable Guild of Shawners and Shaverners, was a charismatic if not notorious proponent of the "thunder seeding" theory which had a brief moment of political public debate during the 1930s. She was ultimately unsuccessful and died in a light aircraft accident.

Willyoujustbequiet · 21/10/2025 02:04

I haven't heard any at all tonight as there won't be any Diwali celebrations here. Tbf I only ever do on Nov 5th and New Year.

The dog is fine with them too so it doesn't bother me really.

harveythehorse · 21/10/2025 02:13

TheSilentSister · 21/10/2025 01:25

Durh, what do you think?

I think it's obvious what I think and I think it's equally obvious to most people there's a huge difference between a thunderstorm and a firework display but you seem confused.

Or is this a poor use of sarcasm?

TwinklyNight · 21/10/2025 02:17

They're allowed where I live from dusk to 11 pm.

I think she was related to Lady Wylder of Hamblesmith, generally known as Tinky. She was a devastating beauty but, more importantly a great wit and obviously a political champion who raised mutiny within parliament when she was finally able to voice her views on social justice. She survived the Titanic sinking and was the first female barrister to appear in gown at the Old Bailey. She was a figure of great importance, and ultimately, great imagination.

Fireworks need to be banned outside public displays. Horrible dangerous polluting things.

This^
Fed up of hearing about cost of living, you could’ve fooled me. Always money for fireworks.

Milliemoons · 21/10/2025 02:36

My 5 month old was woken 3 times by the fireworks. Nearly wanted to scream out the window that they could breastfeed her to sleep the final time.

It went on from 8pm to 10.30pm here. The dog was terrified and panting and pacing. We even brought him into bed with us (which never happens) and he would not stop panicking.

It’s just a season. And in another time of my life I would have loved it. But right now it’s very difficult.

harveythehorse · 21/10/2025 02:46

Bruisername · 20/10/2025 22:58

My dog isn’t well and is in pain. Had his painkiller and was settling down when the sodding fireworks started and scared the living daylights out of him. He’s not normally bothered but I guess he’s sensitive tonight.

saturday night they were going off at 1am

noiseless fireworks are a thing - the noisy ones should be banned

Your poor boy, I hope he's ok. Mumsnet is a weird place where half of us are devoted to making life nice for our four legged friends and the other 50% seem to believe they have no right to walk this earth.

I had my baby in a central london hospital right next to a major NYE fireworks display. My baby was born a bit after NYE but the midwives told me how scared all the newborns in NICU were when the loud bangs went off close by. I will now always think of that when I see the fireworks on TV…

My dc was in nicu at (probably) this same hospital in 2017, we watched the fireworks from the window with many other parents on nye. I don’t remember any babies even being awake at the time! But if that does happen, surely silent fireworks are the way forward.

Vallmo47 · 21/10/2025 02:54

Agreed about fireworks- at the VERY least they should be silent. If people want to go to organised displays to watch skies light up, fine.

FunnyOrca · 21/10/2025 03:12

We have local bans in my city. They are split by neighbourhood. It was brought in because of “young people” behaving dangerously with fireworks, but the bans have spread to “nice” areas because the rich people don’t want to deal with the noise and nature disruption. I agree with both reasons.

We don’t live inside a ban area, but luckily our immediate area doesn’t have a problem with fireworks and we have a very good local displays for major firework festivals. People tend to gather there anyway.

harveythehorse · 21/10/2025 03:20

PalePinkPeony · 21/10/2025 00:58

Oh diddy diddums. So butt hurt by a few fireworks a few times per year.
Do you know what I think should be banned or at least licenced. Bloody dog owning. Dirty pooing out of control dogs pretty much everywhere I want to go, and now including shops, cafes and today the flipping swimming pool there was a dog (not medical: working dog either)
But no, those of us that don’t want dogs running up to us and trying to avoid dog shit haven’t got a choice do we. Fireworks have been going off for many a year. If you choose to get a dog, you know this.

Seriously, how many shops and cafes have 'dirty pooing out of control dogs'?

LookAtMeWithStarryEyes · 21/10/2025 03:26

I hate fireworks and there have been lots here for the last couple of weeks.

My friends son is autistic and he gets very upset if he hears them. Our dogs aren’t too bad with them usually, we’ve done all the stuff suggested to help them, but they have been so bad this week that one of them did start panting and shaking. 😔 I feel for animals, both pets and wildlife. We seem to have them a lot of nights from the start of October right through til January now and I do wish they would be banned.

Bubblesoffun · 21/10/2025 03:31

Sandrine1982 · 20/10/2025 23:08

True.... actually ... they should be banned altogether ... I find them awful and triggering at any hour. But especially when I put my child to bed and try to get them to sleep.

Yes because the world revolves around your two year old.

Which has fuck all to do with what I posted!!

It is Diwali, the festival of light...mothefucker.

Exactly. Festival of LIGHT. Not festival of motherfucking LOUD BANGS, is it?

Ironfloor269 · 21/10/2025 05:31

😂

A perimenopausal night of NO sleep at all had made me properly grumpy so thank you for making me chuckle this morning.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 21/10/2025 05:38

They are definitely much, much louder than they used to be. I think if possible they should be made quieter. I'd also prefer it if there was a cut off time for them, as I was woken up after midnight by another round of them 🙄

Empress13 · 21/10/2025 05:52

I’m with you OP they go on for days I have even heard them when it’s dusk FFS! They should be banned and organised displays only on the one day not days on end the poor animals !

Whaleandsnail6 · 21/10/2025 05:52

I agreed with you op until you admitted you went to a party with fireworks the night before ...so basically fireworks are ok for you and your friends and family, but not everyone elses?!

A loud banging firework is still a loud banging firework at 7pm or 10pm

I'm surprised that now we have quiet fireworks they haven't got rid if the ridiculous banging ones.

I think they are dangerous and would be happy to see licenced displays only

nasalfluvaccine · 21/10/2025 05:52

Everydayimhuffling · 20/10/2025 23:36

  1. It's Diwali, so there's a clear reason for them and you know when they'll be and can plan accordingly.
  2. The biggest public celebration (Leicester) was cancelled due to safety fears. So people can't just go to public celebrations. There are also far fewer of them.
  3. Because Diwali is a new year celebration, they can go until 1 am, just like all new year celebrations in this country.

If we're going to get rid of one of the fireworks days, I vote for New Year which only recently acquired fireworks or Bonfire Night which celebrates a failed attempt to kill the king in 1604 and is therefore far less culturally significant.

Get rid of the British stuff then?

Zanatdy · 21/10/2025 05:54

Hate this time of year. Everyone will say you’re a kill joy etc, but people are just too much with them. My dog hates them and it’s made me really notice just how many of the blooming things there are. Cost of living crisis? People can still afford to set fire to a £50 note though.

iloveyoghurt · 21/10/2025 05:58

Its been going on every night since Friday where i live till very late, ridiculous
