I meant that being 'supported' to have hobbies is not the same thing as a 50% share of the domestic/caring load.

For eg, if someone says 'oh darling, why don't you leave the dishwasher/bathroom clean, go and have a swim' it's not the same thing as knowing that they have taken responsibility for those things and will do them without being asked, so you can go and have a swim without having those tasks waiting for you when you get back.

Well we did everything 50/50 when we lived together. I was talking specifically about after we'd split up that my hobby time was protected and he worked around my schedule.

It's obviously different when you live together. Or should be.

Oh yes, I quite agree. Certainly judging by the MN Relationships board.Tbh I think it's only partly that he's equality-minded. It's also that he's got endless energy and can't sit still. He also has lots of hobbies. Do other posters' partners have hobbies?
