Do I look frumpy in this outfit? I’m early 40s. Also do I look like I’m slightly pregnant?

How does this outfit look?

For me, it's not really an outfit, just a few things you've thrown together for practical reasons - which is fine, of course.

I echo what others have said and I’ll add that you won’t look put together if you don’t iron or look after your clothes, and wear them until they’re faded and out of shape.

And again, tight fitting leggings and an oversized top make your top half look bigger and out of proportion.

TheKeatingFive · 22/11/2025 19:47

I like the skirt. I'm a fan of that length, though it isn't in fashion right now.

But you need a completely different top with it. Something that cinches in at the waist (and then flatters the tummy).

The jumper looks like it's lost its shape - I'd consign it to 'housework' territory.

TrippingOverMyAssets · 22/11/2025 19:50

I tend to find jumpers don’t really show off my shape very flatteringly. Same with t shirts. I like tops which button up as I always look and feel better in them. Do you have any nice tops that flow a little longer and are looser fitting? One thing I will recommend is shaping your underwear.

TheKeatingFive · 22/11/2025 19:51

Sorry, I'm reading the thread backwards. The red dress is MUCH better.

My shape is similar to yours. My thinnest bit is just under the boobs. That dress works for you because it draws attention to that (plus your legs).

TheKeatingFive · 22/11/2025 19:52

With a big chest, low / V cut jumpers work best.

Speaking from experience 😂

That cardigan needs to go

lolly427 · 22/11/2025 20:27

I think t shirts and jumpers with a v neck would work well for you OP.

The first outfit the jumper looks very stretched around the bottom, the second top is much better but as others have said there's too much material around the armpits.

The red dress is really lovely but needs a better bra. The last outfit, a plain t-shirt with a v neck would look better IMO.

I’m still not clear about the purpose of your question this evening, @keepcalmanddance? We all have shabby home clothes - they don’t really merit comment from a S&B point of view, surely?

(Not saying you shouldn’t ask, if you want, but it’s an odd thing to focus on.)

How does this outfit look?

This would be for pottering around at home, wouldn't be a going out of the house fit.

JMSA · 23/11/2025 07:31

I’m not going to call you frumpy. But the outfit certainly is. You need to get rid of the out-of-shape jumper.

PadamPadamPDoom · 23/11/2025 08:04

You’ve missed the bit between the beginning and the end of the thread, @JMSA!
