To think people are naive re cocaine

Knockonw00d · 19/10/2025 08:50

I see threads on here all the time where women find out their husband has been doing coke etc and are absolutely floored.
But it always amazes me how oblivious people are to how common it really is. I’m childfree and in my late 20s and i go on nights out almost every week so you get to know all of the other regulars in the bars. I do not know one person that I’ve met through going out that doesn’t do cocaine.

These people have professional jobs Monday - Friday. Some of them I know are teachers, nursery staff, work in the passport office. It is so common.

I also see a lot posters describing a change in behaviour and people suggest it could be drugs. But unless you’re doing things like heroin or spice, cocaine does not make you act in the ways people suggest.

Do people really not know how common casual use of cocaine is in this country?

So you're the 'cool' neighbour who lets her DH & son do drugs at yours,,, well done.
🙄🙄🙄

What are you talking about? Point out where I've said this happens?

My background is in health research and there is clear evidence that regular cocaine use is associated with increased aggression in men.

Can you point me to any studies showing this? It would be helpful for my job (most of the perpetrators I come across are using cocaine and it does seem linked to their perpetrating behaviour).

Sorry should of been more clear she doesn’t know why she’s infertile but she’s late thirties so probably indirectly drugs because of the mindset that you should spend your youth drinking and drugging and anyone who doesn’t is a loser.

rounds of ivf on the nhs cost millions that’s fine just ironic after talking about me behind my back being a waste of tax money

yes I probably sound bitter. I’m not though just pointing out that not “everyone “ is a secret drug addict a lot of people have genuinely never even been interested in drugs

No, her infertility is not from drugs. That is not something you can measure.

and yes, you sound unbelievably bitter and unhappy.

Why do people do ketamine knowing the bladder damage risks? I assume with cocaine if you stop slowly slowly your body goes back to normal

dottiehens · 19/10/2025 17:51

Well if it is so common then only a few people left to be naive. Shame we are surrounded by losers then. I hope the twats doing it at nursery schools places get what they deserve.

You told us earlier didn’t you? Because they’re badly brought up?

fl00rence · 19/10/2025 17:58

Cocaine is often very normalised in certain social circles, but that doesn’t make it harmless. It’s extremely damaging to both physical and mental health, and the supply chain is riddled with exploitation and violence. I used to be around it often, and sometimes you need to remove yourself from those circles just to get a reality check. People who do it just make excuses.

If you stop instantly your body goes back to normal, as it does with ketamine if you’re not a regular user with either or an addict. They use ketamine regularly in hospital (particularly in paeds) and cocaine in dentistry so it’s not inherently dangerous, it’s the quantities and regularity they’re used that causes the issues, like alcohol, but alcohol is worse as it’s only medicated in a hospital setting if you’re an alcoholic.

Ketamine destroys your bladder do you not think it might damage other organs anyway not saying it was 100% drug related probably more just leaving it too late if anything.

I know I sound bitter on here but I think she’s the bitter one really apparently I was a waste of her tax money for having children young while she did the responsible thing and spent years getting drunk and high. I know many people that think that way. I’m happy, you don’t need drugs to be happy

Well it depends on how much cocaine you have taken, your septum won't grow back or the structure of your noise, cocaine impacts the lungs and digestive track, pretty rough on the bowels too, likewise not everyone who does ket has bladder issues.

TheGander · 19/10/2025 18:20

EmeraldShamrock000 · 19/10/2025 16:57

I have met people who have lost their job, family and home.
It's very sad when elderly parents are forced to borrow, sell their home, to save adult DC.
My Dbro has a building company, he often meets investors too, he said cocaine is hard to avoid in the business from the top tables to the site sweepers.
It's the new "do you smoke" 🚬 "do you sniff"

I swear one of the guys who did our extension( in London) was going drugs on site. He’d go in the toilet, not even bother flushing ( because he hadn’t used it) and walk out with bloodshot eyes.

CoffeeCantata · 19/10/2025 18:26

Doingtheboxerbeat · 19/10/2025 17:01

I think it's part of the human condition to ignore things for convenience - it's just a question of what bothers you personally.

People who love animals still eat meat, people who care so much about the environment and hate cyclists, people who care about exploitation of children shop in fast fashion stores and online , doctors and nurses who smoke cigarettes, the list is neverending.

I completely agree (as a veggie animal lover!).

But the particular irony that I notice is the people I know who get on their high horses about slavery and imperialism (not good things, obvs) are happily using cocaine and failing to see the irony…just like the people they would criticise in the past.

Ideally one should neither use illegal drugs nor be a teen parent. Neither of you ought to be lecturing. And gloating about infertility is awful, please stop.

I’m not gloating. I’m just saying people have a lot to say about teen parents being irresponsible and wasting their lives while they spend their 20s taking drugs. While teen parents focus on their families

Well good on me that I've never taken it. Glad my DS has been scared to take these. He told me at uni he saw so many people doing bumps/lines/pills but he thankfully resisted the temptation

@Samsonsund , if someone had slagged me off for having a baby at 16 (and going on to be a responsible adult) while wrecking their finances/nose/life with cocaine etc, I wouldn't be fond of them either.

applegingermint · 19/10/2025 18:57

I’m just into my 40s and had a number of male associates from university days who liked the nose beers. I know no less than 4 men who were fit, happy, great careers who have keeled over from heart attacks leaving young families behind.

I now assume most male heart attacks in 30s and 40s are down to historic coke use.

Crankyracoon · 19/10/2025 19:10

I don't give a fuck if it's common.

I think dramatically less of anyone who uses it, including my 21yo BIL and SIL who used it in my local pub when we took them out for a meal. They will never be invited again.

I have been in law enforcement for over 20years. The misery of drug dealing, county lines, associated sexual abuse and rapes, the extreme violence, the importation, the dumping of drugs into water courses, the impact on the countries of origin for the drugs..... And people are also only now hearing the risks of things like ketamine and the effects on your bladder, the use of extreme synthetic drugs like nitazenes which has an extraordinarily high risk of death - and you wouldn't have a clue what the substance actually is until your body reacts because you assume your nice drug dealer knows what it is (and most of the time they don't know what it is).

All so some twat can sniff an unidentified white powder up their nose on a Friday night in a quiet local pub because they think they are cool?

Nah, fuck off.

NOT defending cocaine use or pro cocaine in any way but I find your perspective really interesting, can I ask if how you feel it compares in these terms to alcohol use? Obviously not in terms of county lines and dealing etc., but in terms of crimes committed by those under the influence of.

Not everyone in their 20's take cocaine, neither will all teenage parents focus on their family.

Cocaine is sold in too expensive quantities for it to be the kind of drug you buy through survival crime. You can get crack for as little as ten pound. Cocaine starts at around 50. Not many people sell half grams.

This is straight up incorrect.

Last year The Guardian did a series, Bloodlines, on the cocaine trade and associated crime. It makes sobering reading, I'd hope particularly for anyone who likes a recreational toot.

A particularly brutal read many more in the series if you have the stomach for it.

In all honesty is it possible to use drugs "responsibly". Like how one can drink responsibly?

The UK is one of the biggest consumers of cocaine in the world.

For years I couldn't understand how the general population seemed to have so much more energy than me. How did they manage a full working week and then out on Friday and Saturday. Answer is cocaine.

In my 20s I used to go to a popular music festival. I never understood how 90% of people I was with could stay up all night where as I was done by 11pm after walking 30,000 steps!
