To wonder if the rise in gender confusion is due to

The levels of oestrogen in water? For many years now the levels of female hormones in the water supply has been steadily building up, due to the use of hormonal contraception, which cannot be filtered out of the waste water, as well as agricultural practices which contaminate water due to run off from fields into the water supply. This has been affecting marine life for a long time, so it stands to reason that it’s also affecting humans.

I’m sure there’s other factors too, there seems to be a disproportionate number of SEN teens confused about their gender, so maybe it’s a feeling of not belonging for them which leads them to think that they must have been born in the wrong body and that’s why they don’t fit in. But is it possible that there is a rise in genuine confusion in males feeling like females due to the female hormones they’re ingesting every day?

Disclaimer - I’m not a scientist so happy to be corrected!

It’s because kids are being told they can change who they are, instead of being encouraged to be who they are. It’s fine to be a ‘tomboy’ or an effeminate man and it’s fine to dress and act however you want, without having to start chopping bits off your body. That is the message that should be rolled out.

I have no doubt there are genuine cases of body dysmorphia, but children are being told that the answer is permanent physical and hormonal alteration to their bodies.

There has been a 5000% increase in young people seeking help from gender clinics, which is terrifying and wrong.

My opinion only.

No
its to do with left ideology and brainwashing of kids

Obviously that's about sex and not gender identity - I wonder if there are physical changes in males (humans!) overall that correlate with this, or (as the OP posits) in any specific subgroup of males? Surely some research has been done on this as it's been acknowledged as a thing (oestrogen in the water) for decades.

MrsArcher23 · 18/10/2025 13:56

If there is so much oestrogen in drinking water, does that mean we don’t need as much HRT?

Almostwelsh · 18/10/2025 13:58

I don't understand the oestrogen in the water thing. If women didn't use contraception, lots more of them would be pregnant and full of oestrogen. In the past when there were higher birth rates that was the case.

If we have high oestrogen type chemicals in the water I would suspect industrial causes rather than the pill.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 18/10/2025 14:04

I think this is mainly a social contagion tbh and a weird obsession with labelling everything. My 10 yo told me she identifies as aromantic as not interested in dating.

A surgeon friend said he used to see one or two cases a month where a baby was born with both male/female reproductive organs. Now it’s several times a week. The thinking is that it is down to the contraceptive pill. Not the same thing I know but sometimes things that are seen as progress (contraception/HRT) can create another set of problems.

kattykitkats · 18/10/2025 13:47

Yes if there’s no other explanation for these men’s behaviour blame women for having a choice over their bodies that must be the reason for men’s problems.

Wow…not sure where I blamed women for anything 🤣. More suggesting a possible factor for the huge surge of boys thinking they’re girls.

I agree with this. If gender stereotypes didn’t exist, young people could just do whatever they wanted to do without having to label it as anything.

Sorry, a single surgeon sees 10+ kids a month born with both ovaries and testes?

Only around 500 people have ever been
identified as having an ovotesticular DSD.

Where on earth does he work?

MouldyPeppers · 18/10/2025 14:20

It is to do with indoctrination in schools and porn in older men.

I know of an 11 year old who is sometimes non binary, sometimes male and sometimes female, depending on which way the wind blows that day. Is also a therian and identifies as a range of different animals, again depending on the day. And the bonkers thing is their parents go along with it all 😵‍💫

Yes there would have been more pregnancies, but even if you had 10 kids, that would only be 90 months of your life pregnant, give or take. Now we have hormonal contraceptives often being used throughout the entirety of women’s reproductive lives, and also HRT beyond that.

Interesting. I did also read something questioning the DNA from foetal matter in some vaccinations as a cause of concern. I'm not saying that is any of these things but I think it's a really interesting discussion and.....who knows, stranger things have happened.

unsync · 18/10/2025 14:31

Absolutely nothing to do with misogyny, the patriarchy or the pornification of society. Nope, it's the water.

5128gap · 18/10/2025 14:33

I think if oestrogen in water was having any affect on people it would be more likely to manifest in the typical physical symptoms of an oestrogen imbalance. So I'd imagine men would be more likely to be experiencing ED, gynecomastia and infertility than a compulsion to wear a dress and use the ladies toilets.

Anononony · 18/10/2025 14:35

I don't know, I think it's just because tweens/teens are online so much, and it's infiltrated schools so kids looking to fit in find a super welcoming group that are almost immune to bullying because it's seen as transphobic

I wanted to be a boy for a time as a child, the difference is there was no group to join to encourage it, no flags to wave or marches to go on, and I certainly couldn't have told my parents and been taken seriously! There have always been masculine women and feminine men, and kids used to group together based on music taste (goths, emos, punks etc) and that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, they group based on their gender identity and sexual preferences

Vaninees · 18/10/2025 14:35

It’s not a social trend, then? Like skinheads/ mods+ rockers?

It would be interesting to know the stats of how many boys vs girls believe they’re trans. I don’t know of any girls, but I know of at least 5 sons of friends and acquaintances that believe they’re girls. And both of my DC are female so there’s a lot more girls in our lives than boys. No it doesn’t explain girls who believe they’re trans but there’s definitely other factors - peer pressure, a fad, jumping on the bandwagon etc.

And in contrast I know 3 girls and 1 boy.

I'm pretty sure children being allowed to access the Internet with no limits is the problem
Transgender is the new goth. Kids wanting to be individuals by copying everyone else.

TeenLifeMum · 18/10/2025 14:42

I think there’s a clear link with autism. Things tend to be seen in black and white so if you’re biologically one sex but don’t match the stereotype, you must be in the wrong gender. Ie. You like trousers, blue and football = boy and ballet, pink and pop music = girl. That black and white view leads to gender confusion and choosing a gender is a way to express “I like girl stereotype stuff” or vice versa.

I’ve seen stereotypes really strengthen beyond anything we had in the 1990s growing up. Then it was more Jane like cars and trains? Cool, let’s get her some.

seaelephant · 18/10/2025 14:46

chemicals in the water turn the freaking frogs gay

Blump2783 · 18/10/2025 15:11

Not being a scientist either I couldn't comment on the water supply.
My own concerns with gender identification is that there is still too much gendering in society. Clothes, toys, what activities you can do. So when for example someone born male wants to wear pink and do ballet rather than just being allowed by society there is negativity about it. They then might question if their gender as they don't fit the mould they are told they are meant to be in. I also think this will impact neuro diverse people more as they already struggle to fit in a world designed to work best for neuro typical people.
