Working class men are the most attractive

And there's no convincing me otherwise.

AIBU?

I think about this topic a lot.

My best friend from high school came from a working class council house family. We were MC and my mum was horrified I was friends with him. He has always been the kindest calmest most down to earth considerate man you could meet. I went to uni he got a job and we kept in touch, he was always nice looking but I never saw him that way when we were teenagers. When I finished uni and saw him again I nearly dropped dead on the spot let’s just say he had changed (or maybe I had? But he looked amazing ). Nothing ever happened we are still best friends , can confirm though in my opinion working class is definitely best !

100% agree and usually have the best banter as well.

A tidy tradie is a sight for sore eyes when you need a carpenter, sparks or a plumber. The ancient plasterer's mate who was so arthritic he regularly had to be helped up off the ground -- rather less appealing. I worried about him.

BoudiccaRuled · 17/10/2025 14:07

Labourers age terribly though. Older ones tend to have that grey smoker's skin, awful teeth and are overly wrinkled from exposure to the elements.

I’ve always liked arty creative types, and they need to be intelligent - ideally highly intelligent. I’ve never fancied builders. I’m more Louis Theroux than Danny Dyer.

Louis Theroux? He's about as sexy as a slap in the face with a demented haddock.

You're not wrong.

Middle to upper class men (to me) look like sappy wet lettuces who couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.

It’s so interesting to me how attraction works. I like gentle and intelligent men so enjoying a fight, or being good at fighting, isn’t a positive for me at all.

That has nothing to do with class though, my DH is an intelligent, educated, soft spoken, loving, quiet and gentle man- who happened to grow up on council estates.

How does violence make a good partner? I’m just curious not shaming you or anything.

Well you generally don't see Supreme Court justices up on the roof in sexy little shorts while showing off their rippling torsos, so it's hard to know... 🤔

You do in some establishments 😂

I like a man with a professional job who can fight, the idea a man is stronger just because he plumbs shit out of toilets all day 😂

give me Patrick Bateman without the murder

Mushroo · 17/10/2025 12:56

Not for me.

I can see the appeal for the Diet Coke advert window cleaner man, but irl I hate tattoos and vapes, which probably rules out quite a lot of tradesmen!

Ideal celebs would be Tom Holland or Tom Hiddleston.

Tom Hiddleston looks like he'sd blow away in a light breeze.

Men who (probably stereotypically) I identify as working class come with far too many tattoos and, past a certain age, red faces from drinking too much. Not for me. At all.

I'm attracted to money. I'd be with a working class man who owned his own business or had the potential to earn well.

Yep, but just imagine him on the dance floor at your kids wedding😁. This may be influenced by the fact my DH can’t even shuffle dance🤣.

Tom Hardy (and dare I day it, Danny Dyer).

Tom Hardy went to private school. His parents are artist and writer. Not WC.

No , sometimes they manage the local Aldi. Happy to shop there don't want to marry the manager

Is supermarket management a working class role? I would have thought middle class - it's mostly office work I imagine, and assume not badly paid ....

And why wouldn't you want to marry a supermarket manager, out of interest? I am not suggesting I am desperate to, but I wouldn't rule it out more than any other similar role - it's I assume pretty well paid, a nice steady job, and not arms dealing or drug running or something, is it?

tripleginandtonic · 17/10/2025 14:31

teacupzs · 17/10/2025 13:08

No thanks. Give me a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up over that any day.

But surely it's what the arms look like under the shirt or is the actual shirt you like?

The shirt offsets it though. And the right watch

Uricon2 · 17/10/2025 14:33

My current crush is Akram Salim from Dept Q. He wears an anorak, a buttoned up cardigan with shirt and tie and on occasion a cap with earflaps. He is, as far as one can tell, not terribly muscular under this outfit.

This however is not all there is to Akram, by any means. Anyone who's seen Dept Q will understand 😂.

Villanovas · 17/10/2025 14:35

@User3365237 I think you're fantasising about what these rugged builder types are actually like, the ones I know are in the main thick as pig shit and coked up/cannabis smoking idiots most of the time. The bog tops in our local are aparrently caked in it on a Friday teatime aka payday, they love a misogynistic rant too, can see why the fantasy exists ie easy on the eye, but in reality naaahh.

MsMarch · 17/10/2025 14:40

I don't think you're attracted to working class men. You're attracted to men who work in construction. Men who are physically fit and often physical. Who often have a sort of "can do", capable attidue. It is true that many men of this type are working class. And I think it's easy to understand the appeal.

But there are lots and lots of working class men who do not fit this criteria.

So perhaps you need to be more specific on what you like. Are you equally into working class men who work as Amazon delivery drivers, shelf stackers at Sainsburys, janitors? Do you like working class men who are porters in hospitals, double gazing sales men or mechanics? What about working class men who are gardeners or fitness instructors? Are those rugged enough vs working class men who work in factories or drive lorries?

MyCrushWithEyeliner · 17/10/2025 14:44

OP, are you saying you wouldn’t want a piece of this?

PersephonePomegranate · 17/10/2025 14:44

User3365237 · 17/10/2025 12:36

I'm talking about the rugged types on building sites etc. Intelligence and class are entirely separate.

Are you talking about the ones with their arse cracks on display and behaving like louts?

Obviously not all men on building sites or who do manual work behave like this, so even in the example you've given there will be huge variations that make someone either attractive or not. They don't all come from a machine!
