Your least favourite shop/shop you've had problems with. Shops you don't go in anymore.

Anything we can learn?

Sports Direct.
No customer service.

Mainly young staff who have no clue about customer service. Like Robots in there. Soulless place.

Clothes that aren't the size they are labelled, so its misleading.
Googled this and apparantely its quite common.
Don't want to give refunds easily when other shops do.

Trago Mills. IYKYK.

Flashbacks! My sister lives in Paignton and we have gone to the Newton Abbot one whilst staying in the area to visit her.

queenofwandss · 09/10/2025 23:30

Debenhams now that it is online only (I believe owned by Sports Direct people?). It’s a nightmare getting a refund from them now.

Zara - always a mess with things unfolded and falling on the floor.

Lush again…. the stench! I honestly don’t know how the staff can stand it all day.

I feel the same. I hate candle shops for the same reason.
I live only a few miles from the Lush factory. You can smell it from half a mile away.

InveterateWineDrinker · 10/10/2025 00:19

TK Maxx. On two separate occasions I have found fresh jizz dribbling down the mirrors in the men's fitting rooms in the Manchester Arndale branch.

BakingHotInSunnyClimate · 10/10/2025 00:22

Any shop (B&M especially) that fails to put price labels on the shelves.

Any shop (Tescos especially) that stuff so many reduced price clothes on hangers, that you can’t move them.
the hanger size states size 12 (eg) but the item is a size 14.
Also when the poles that the hangers are on, are out of reach for anyone under 5’4”.

Lush, the staff are usually purple and blue haired pushy freaks harassing you as you try and look at stuff.

Place smells too overpowering for me to go in there now.

Memorable · 10/10/2025 05:47

Lush. Overpowering smells. Products that look like they were made at preschool and rolled in glitter. No thanks to lurid bath bombs full of twigs.

WHSmiths how / why are they still in business??

Mysticguru · 10/10/2025 06:22

Tesco. Not because of the staff but because of their money grabbing policy

Crazybooklady · 10/10/2025 06:22

Next! Not the shop itself but their website is awful. The filtering doesn’t work which drives me crazy.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 10/10/2025 06:32

Our local post office. I get worked up at the thought of having to go. Unbelievably slow and whilst you stand in the interminable queue you have to look at the most revolting and random tat ever seen which I refuse to believe anyone buys.

I had a similar issue but it was with returning items. I returned quite a few items but only received a refund for one, and unfortunately as it was using InPost (no other option) there was no confirmation of weight. I complained to them, to PayPal but to no avail. Apparently there was CCTV on when it was returned but when asked to see this, was told that they couldn’t share it due to GDPR rules 😞 I even reached out to InPost themselves but Spirts Direct didn’t even reply to them!

I am too a single mum and it has made me so angry and caused sleepless nights.

These stories need to be taken further about Sports Direct. It’s theft! Shocking. You should all get in touch with each other and contact one of the big consumer groups like resolve. Not ok at all that this has happened to you!! Xx

TK Maxx. On two separate occasions I have found fresh jizz dribbling down the mirrors in the men's fitting rooms in the Manchester Arndale branch.

OMG!!! This is absolutely hideous 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

LillyPJ · 10/10/2025 06:45

W H Smith (even though I usually love a stationery shop!). It's felt unwelcoming for ages - gloomy, cramped and hard to find an assistant. If you did get someone on a till, they'd try to flog you extra sweets or something you didn't want. I'm glad they're closing the high street branches.

Sunshineandrainbow · 10/10/2025 06:47

The range. So many prices missing and stuff everywhere.

WideOpenBeaches · 10/10/2025 06:53

My local branch of Boots.

The lighting is awful. You literally have to feel your way along the shelves.

They have no chance of me ever making an impulse buy there…

OfAllThePlaces · 10/10/2025 06:58

SCS the salespeople stalk you around the shop listening in to your conversations and pop up with their own input about a suite. I refuse to go there now after a very appalling experience from one member of staff who wouldn’t leave us alone, even followed us into the car park.

TheBlueRobin · 10/10/2025 07:22

Lush

I find it all so overwhelming in there and very expensive and you can't even just browse casually without someone jumping on you 'HELLO DO YOU NEED ANY HELP? WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY X?'

goingtotown · 10/10/2025 08:01

Sports Direct no refunds.
TK Maxx full of rubbish.
Starbucks filthy, especially toilets.
Morrisons dreadful lighting.

DancingNotDrowning · 10/10/2025 08:09

Notascouser1990 · 09/10/2025 22:52

@DancingNotDrowning Its to prevent theft, sadly

I get that but if I’m about to spend £150 on a pair of trainers I’d like to be sure they fit Confused

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 10/10/2025 08:21

I agree about Lush. I no longer go in. Feel like a gazelle amongst hungry lions. As soon as you enter they pounce. Asking what you want, questioning you. What is it for who is it for, do you want x or y? They really, really don’t like you just browsing.
Desperate to sell you anything. Won’t leave you alone.

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 10/10/2025 08:34

Thought of another one. A local boutique which sells a random mixture of clothing. I have a friend who likes to shop there.
You cannot enter the shop without the salesman asking what size are you?
Eh? I’m not even buying anything mate, I’m just here with my friend.
Next it’s, this is new in, the colour would suit you, look at the quality. Hmmm yes very nice. Do you want to try it on? Not really, I don’t want a jacket.
Oh, how about some trousers? What size are you? How about these lovely grey tweed trousers?
Err no thanks, I don’t want any more trousers.
What about a dress then? This one is lovely and just your colour. Hmm, no it looks far too long for me, thanks. Well, we do have shorter dresses ……

TMMC1 · 10/10/2025 08:36

That’s an easy one, Smyths Toys.

Bundleflower · 10/10/2025 08:40

Asda. Shockingly shit wine. Don't like the colour of the floor tiles. Checkout staff in my local one will have you stood at the till for 15 minutes whilst they have a natter - not joking. Last time I politely apologised for interrupting but explained I had to get back to work so could she please pop my items through the till. Jesus - that did NOT go down well. Half the self service tills flashing red or orange despite no one being on them. The other half with people stood there waiting for assistance and a queue that spans half way up the adjacent aisle. Crap selection of salad.
Handy to grab children’s clothes though.

ContentedAlpaca · 10/10/2025 08:41

You know those security things that make a clicking noise that they attach to products? I can't be near those.
In our Dunelm, they put boxed duvets with them on , on the same shelves as all the covers so that ruled out lots of aisles I just couldn't go down.
Tesco can be the same with their electronics.

Lush. It took me 3 separate visits to buy some solid perfume. I just wanted to stand there on my own and work out which I wanted but each time I went in I had someone stood there making me smell things I wasn't interested in and I left empty handed. Just leave me alone.

PurpleChrayn · 10/10/2025 08:43

Lush.

Terror supporters.
