My favourites have been Venice, Bhutan, Iceland and Easter Island.

I'd love to go to Fiji, Nepal, New Zealand and Namibia. It's interesting how we're all different. Going to the US doesn't appeal to me, except maybe for the Grand Canyon and some of the amazing landscapes in Utah. I feel the same way about the UAE.

Fern346 · 07/10/2025 15:11

Best place - Seoul, South Korea is just so cool and stylish and the food is on another level. Fiji is also up there as one of the best, is was like being in Moana 😂 I’ve never seen the sea that colour

really want to see more of Italy, like Tuscany.

I dont think anyone has mentioned the uae actually - no-one said dubai or anything 👀

Had to Google Easter island! Didn't know it existed 🙈

Was it easy to get to?

Does Sweden usually get that cold?

I would love just the opportunity to wear layers 😄 instead of moaning its not cold enough

Sweden does get cold, and the further north the colder. When i had that temp was actually in the south and you could sea the ice forming in the sea. Was something very clean and beautiful about it.

Best places I’ve been has got to be the Vancouver/Island road trip we did, followed by an Alaskan cruise. Canada is somewhere I feel very at home and I love the wilderness of Alaska. It was DH and I’s first holiday so some really special memories. We’ve just booked to go back in 2026, this time doing an Alaskan roadtrip and MIL is coming too! Also loved the Maldives and Eastern Canada- Montreal, Quebec and the Maritimes. So unspoilt and very untouristy so fun to explore.

Currently in Thailand- we enjoyed Bangkok, a jungle safari in a very unknown place called Khao Yai was stand out and now in Koh Samui which is nice but a bit too touristy for us. We deff want to explore more of the country though and think we fancy being brave and hiring a car next time to give us some more flexibility- we fancy Chaing Mai and the mountains/national parks to the north and west.

Our next bucket list item is South Africa. We have a 3 week itinerary to cover Cape Town, Garden Route and safari that was meant to be our honeymoon but due to Covid travel restrictions we went to the Maldives instead (no regrets!) so that’s high on our list! We need a year when it works for us financially and timing wise to take 3 weeks off work at the right time of year for safari though!

Girl blink if you need help!! 😄

Your life sounds epic tbh, and Thailand sounds amazing

Do they drive on the same side of the road as us in Thailand? If so, it wont be so bad driving round?

That would've been an amazing honeymoon but sunning it up in the Maldives is lovely, and maybe romantic too? x

Tanzania and South Africa, have been there a lot as have family connection. Lebanon is also amazing.

Want to go to Mali particularly Timbuktu, although a little unstable currently.

Luckily for me, MIL is lovely and has a fab sense of adventure! She’s also single and hates that she has no one to go on holiday with who is as adventurous as her- as she lives 4 hours away from us, it seems a pretty good way to spend time together!

And YY to the Maldives being an amazing honeymoon- it was much slower paced than our original plan but after the craziness of the wedding, ideal for spending time together.

And yes, Thailand drive on the same side! I wouldn’t drive here on Koh Sumui as there’s too many crazy bikers but the main roads from Bangkok to the north seemed absolutely fine!

Maybe they didn't mention the UAE on this thread, but I've seen it mentioned before.

Easter Island is very remote! I got there with LATAM airlines and had to fly London to Madrid, then Madrid to Santiago de Chile, then on to Easter Island. The flight from Chile to Easter Island took about 5 1/2 hours. Back then, you could also get to Easter Island from Tahiti, which took a similar amount of time, but I'm not sure if those flights are still running. So, Easter Island is somewhere you're unlikely to visit unless you're really motivated to see it.

TheAlwaysThereButNeverUsedCeilingLights · 07/10/2025 17:56

Uae has lovely muntains. Interesting scenery, but I think tbh it can be topped by many, many other places. That's probably why

mumofoneAloneandwell · 06/10/2025 21:32

Whats going on in cape town that everyone loves 😄👀

There's just lots to do there and it's one of those modern cities surrounded by gorgeous scenery and nature. The mountain has some lovely routes to hike (though some paths are risky without a local), Chapman's peak drive is stunning and the beaches are powder white.

The history is obviously horrible but it's important and Robben Island was so interesting. Everyone knows about Mandela but Robert Sobukwe also had a rough time there and isn't so well known.

Also, the penguins!

MissAmbrosia · 07/10/2025 19:39

I don't like flying so long haul pretty much off the cards for me. I want to go to Matera in Italy and stay in a cave house. I have tried several times but flights were cancelled. Other than that - Edinburgh and various Scottish isles. Shetland, Skye, Harris and Lewis etc. Best place I have ever been is hard. Maybe Seville. Or Prague (in the early 90s). Rome,

I know, I long to be well travelled honestly

Manifesting it for me and dd 🙌🙌🥰

That's interesting about st kilda- same it would be nice to see some of the uk and the surrounds

😄😄 I am the kind of person who gets excited when I see cows so I understand your friends pov 😄

I am lucky enough to see cows every day, but I have to say that the Icelandic ones are very cute (as are the sheep)! Fun fact: if you import an Icelandic animal, it can never go back to Iceland as they run a 'closed herd' system to keep out diseases.

I watched an episode of Landward where the presenter was sent off to St Kilda. It is a bit of a nightmare to get to, because of the weather and tide, and he was throwing up in a livestock mineral lick box 😂It looked lovely (and so did the native sheep that live there!)

jarviscockatiel · 08/10/2025 22:00

Favourite places include Namibia, Iran, Brazil and Borneo.
Really want to go to Uzbekistan, Iraq, South Africa and Argentina.

I want to go to St.Petersburg. So angry I might not get the chance now as I am sixty. Don’t put travel plans off!!

Best place, probably Rome.

Worst place, definitely Japan! Sorry but I hated it.

Why can't you go to St Peters burg?
You are only 60

Yes, gets very cold i believe but then you get to wear loads of clothes😁
Coldest I've been is -21c in Sweden

We had -35° in northern Finland. It was much better than I thought it would be, I mean your eyelashes and hair inside your nose freeze, but we were sensible about what we wore. Plus it's so cool (literally Grin) to freeze your ice cubes and keep your ice cream outside!

loulou2012 · 08/10/2025 22:58

Loved Japan, Thailand, America, Italy (the food especially).
