Jews leaving the UK

Ihatetomatoes · 06/10/2025 10:42

I dont blame them. I would if I were Jewish.

They have been failed by their country, which is the UK. I wish them well and hope the UK can sort its anti semitism problems so it becomes safe for Jewish people again.

Why is it that if Muslim people say they'll leave due to mosques being attacked the racist rhetoric is 'go on back then and see if it's better' but if Jewish people say it everyone is aghast that we've driven them out

When does this happen?

What is anti Semitic ? Did you know Palestinians are Semite people….

Even the Oxford dictionary defines antisemitism as "Hostility towards and discrimination against Jewish people". That's the accepted definition....as you well know.

Interesting how we have here the anonymous account claiming to be Jewish but a proud Palestinian supporter. Not many of these Jewish pro Pally types in real life but plenty when they don’t have to reveal their identity. Hmmm.

It is also interesting how the pro Palestinian crowd claim not to be motivated by Jew hate when Matthew Syed talked to scores of marchers when they were celebrating the Synagogue murders, and everyone except one, was frothing at the bit with Jew loathing.

And Interesting how the massacre of Christians in Syria received no opprobrium from the pro pally crowd, isn’t it. Are the Syrian Muslims just not Jewish enough to attract censure do you think?

I'm not in the habit of sharing my personal details online to strangers on chat forums...Why would I?!
However, I make sure to stand out as Jewish (as do countless fellow Jews) when attending the marches... It helps to dispel the myth and propaganda that pro-Palestine marches are rabid anti-semite fests. I've never once felt or been unsafe or victim of ANYTHING vaguely resembling Jew-hate.
These protests are all over the world.. People from all walks of life, backgrounds, religions etc.. Israel has NEVER been so isolated on the world stage and I absolutely refuse to believe that's because the overwhelming majority of the world "hate Jews". Complete and utter nonsense.

anti Semitic isnt the same as anti Israeli nice try

You are literally demonstrating the point. The way you are framing it is that any Israeli or any person who supports the right of Israel to exist is not ‘innocent’. So Jews who are against Israel are ok. Jews who believe Israel should exist as a Jewish state (ie most of them) are not.

The anti-Israel sentiment has become so extreme that unless you are an anti-Zionist you are guilty and basically fair game. This is where the pro-Palestine movement is anti-Semitic.

It’s like saying, ‘Im not Islamophobic, Im just against people who support the right of Pakistan to exist (ie 99% of Muslims)’

Agree. I wonder what exactly pp actually means by a “political movement based on racism, ethnic supremacy, oppression and genocide”.

ETA:
It’s like saying, ‘Im not Islamophobic, Im just against people who support the right of Pakistan to exist (ie 99% of Muslims)’

Especially if Pakistan were the only Muslim state in the world.

But there were Jews, Christian’s and Muslims living in peace in Palestine before 1948…

There still are. Just not in Palestine. In Palestine there are mainly Muslims, a dwindling Christian community and zero Jews (unless you count the hostages). In Israel there is a diverse range of people including Jews, Muslims, Christian’s, Druze, Bah’ai, Hindu.. all together in one country with the freedom of religion. Is that what you meant?

And there are Jews, Christian’s and Muslims living in peace together in Israel. There are senior army officials who are Muslim, judges, doctors and surgeons. All walks of life. But you rarely hear of that.

Lipglosser · 06/10/2025 14:15

What country would they go to though ?

Actually it doesn’t help at all.

As an ‘anti Zionist’ you refuse Jews a homeland and clearly hold repulsive racist anti semitic views.

There was a popular German fascist dictator in the 30’s and 40’s who shared your opinions and murdered millions of Jews.

It’s concerning that you share his fascist views and I hope you and your fellow fascists will reconsider them.

Thank you.

Barnbrack · 06/10/2025 14:18

Genuinely can someone explain to me what is anti semitic about asking why a Jewish person would feel safer next to Hamas, an organisation the country of Israel is so scared of that they are attempting to wipe out hundreds of thousands of people, than they do in the UK? If Hamas are that terrifying what is scarier in the UK? And why aren't Israel bombing here instea

ScribblingPixie · 06/10/2025 14:18

Two acquaintances of my DH who would consider themselves to be anti-racist with flawless political views have had Facebook posts removed and warnings for anti-semitism recently. I say this to suggest it's very much worth reporting posts you see that try to do the 'anti-Zionist' thing rather than assuming Facebook won't care.

Except you said "What is anti Semitic ? Did you know Palestinians are Semite people…." I'm answering your question. I didn't mention Israel.

Barnbrack · 06/10/2025 14:20

And to be clear I'm not anti semitic, my first serious relationship was with a Jewish man, I very much started off in 2023 after the attacks by Hamas on the side of the Jewish people being attacked and dragged off. Now? Murdering and dehumanizing hundreds of thousands of children so systematically? How can anyone think that is acceptable?

mommatoone · 06/10/2025 14:20

Meadowfinch · 06/10/2025 13:01

There has been one attack. A sense of proportion is needed here.

If everyone left the UK on that basis, our population would be without women (more violent men than it is possible to mention), schoolchildren (Thomas Hamilton), gay people (David Copeland) and people who live in Berkshire (Michael Ryan).

Any attack is horrible & shocking and scary, but it is not a reason to leave.

When somewhere is your home, you stand and face down the bigots and aggressors. Or at least in my world you do.

'One attack' please tell me you are not that naive.

Jujujudo · 06/10/2025 14:22

Well if this thread is anything to go by we should all be packing our bags and planning our escape as soon as possible. We should take ourselves to countries which can appreciate our culture and contributions to society and who are not ignorant and racist and brainwashed. Judging by this thread, and most of the rhetoric I’m hearing, the Jews need to leave the uk and let them live happily together in their diverse society without us.
I mean we were ethnically cleansed from Yemen, Libya, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Poland, Germany and many other places. We still survived, maybe not quite as well as we should have, but we are still here. I mean if 14m people are such an issue to you all, I’m sure there must be a way to just get rid of us, if we don’t all just leave quietly.

Paganpentacle · 06/10/2025 14:23

plyplaypro · 06/10/2025 13:25

I understand how it seems people going back to Israel. Whilst we have no idea how they'll vote, they've obviously decided they feel safer there than here. Not a decision for everyone, not one I understand or agree with.

That withstanding, this line is casually antisemitic and unacceptably ignorant.
"I don't think everyone has suddenly become jew-haters, its more the genocide and purposeful starvation of children that gets on peoples tits.'

1- I'm 100% NOT ignorant of the current and past situation in Israel /Gaza.
2- being outraged at genocide and starving/dead children isn't anti-semetic, however you like to push it.

I wonder how many Palestinians are going back just now given how fair the fight is there and how anti semitism is the real problem not the current racist undertones and anti immigration overt rhetoric. Do you think a Palestinian person would want to go back to Gaza right now? Because better the devil you know? Doesn't seem wildly likely

I imagine some Israelis choose to move to Israel because they feel like the Israeli government is looking out for their citizens.
Same can’t be said about the government of Gaza.

Stay in the UK! You are welcome. Why on earth wouldn't you be? I've faced persecution and blame for being an Irish Catholic in the mainland UK during Iran bombings and I'm not heading off back to Ireland where I was more likely to get bombed for my mixed marriage was I?

So why head to Israel where Hamas is such a threat?

Israels existence, again, fine. Israel being so heavily backed to launch bombs into Gaza while they themselves have shields and a massive army. That sits less well with me. Why would you want to go into the environment? Genuinely, if you move to Israel your children will face mandatory conscription? Are you happy with that?

does the term “terrorism” apply to the Israeli government too ?

Why should British Jews live in fear because of the Israeli government.
Racist posts like yours chill me to the bone.
I’m not surprised Jews are leaving.

October 7th still happened.
Their children will face mandatory conscription into the military
Those who are refusing are facing prison.
Why would you want to be a part of that? I genuinely don't understand

I am not considering making aliyah.

But if you are caught between two terrible options people will end up with one or the other. Everyone has different things that are important to them. Israel offers a lot of safety for some very specific reasons - and much less safety for other reasons.

Literally just like the people arriving on boats every day - that's not a great option. No one thinks it's a safe and secure choice. But the other option is terrible as well. When things are terrible you start considering what might be a different sort of choice.

I can only assume you are not the victim of endless bigotry or racism because you seem very surprised by its existence. Which is great - I hope you are enjoying your privilege. I have plenty of privilege too as a white, able bodied, middle class woman. But I don't have the luxury of ignoring antisemitism and I don't have the peace that comes from knowing my family is always safe. My daughter was attacked twice so far... what's coming next for her? What will this group of teenage boys think of next?
