Nearly 500 arrested for support for Palestinian Action Group a proscribed terrorist organisation

This is getting ridiculous. The same group, think they can do what they want which includes, using a sledgehammer to attack a person, breaking into a military base and causing millions of pounds worth of damage. Hatred towards Jewish people.

It appears these people feel the law doesn't apply to them. None of the above is peaceful protest. Stronger sentences or fines are needed.

Jewish people should be targeted or feel threatened because of Israel’s actions

I hope this is a typo

I think it is a typo.

I think the idea of fining those arrested is a great idea. They're absolutely wasting Police time on this.

I despise Netanyahu and his Govt and think he should be arrested. I also despise Hamas and feel a 2 state solution is probably the only feasible long term solution.

I also despise these marches. They are inherently anti-Semitic and do nothing but incite more unrest. More importantly, they achieve absolutely nothing. Same as that aid flotilla that has little to no room for actual aid.

Edited

This is how I feel. I want the war to end, Hamas gone, a 2 state solution, a better government in Israel, hostages released urgently. However, I also feel the marches are intimidating and spread hatred and fear with their face coverings, horrible chants, including the dreadful globalise the intifada. It doesn't me I want the war to continue but after a terrorist attack in the UK I feel they inflame things and stoke hatred already there.

They have the same mindset as Extinction Rebellion. And, actually, I think they are doing damage to their chosen cause, rather then helping it.

No one is above the law.

It's the same people. Just like Greta Thunberg seems to have stopped giving a shit about the environment and moved onto Gaza, so have Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil.

The co-founder of Palestine Action (who is currently waiting trial for professing support for the October 7th Hamas attacks) was previously arrested for that fuckwitted Extinction Rebellion attack on a London tube which stopped people from getting to work by public transport.

It's disrespectful that they couldn't even wait a week.

Given she describes the terror attack as horrific, couldn’t you guess?

So much wrong with this post...I barely know where to start. But it speaks absolute volumes about you as a person.

"All we hear from Jewish people"?

Really? Wow.

Antisemitic much?

localnotail · 05/10/2025 10:15

I think these protests have zero to do with what is happening in Gaza. I have no idea what their actual aim is - but I doubt they give an actual shit about Palestine or Israel beyond treating Palestinian flag the same way Che Guevara portraits were treated previously (i e anti-establishment symbol with little meaning beyond that).

The police should be diverting their resources to protecting synagogues, not arresting people holding pieces of cardboard.

Any large gathering of people needs policing even just for their own protection.

As I posted on my thread about how stupid these people being arrested for supporting Palestine Actions are (and good luck @nomas accusing me of being an Israeli bot) they were asked to pause their demonstration to free up police capacity to protect Jewish spaces in the immediate wake of a terrorist attack and they said no.

Their level of self-righteousness is off the charts.

When did the police ask people not to protest? I haven’t seen that.

the cable street riots in the 30s were eventually stopped but were this popular at first.

Oswald Mosley, leader of the British Union of Fascists, was imprisoned in 1940 under Defence Regulation 18B because the government (led by Winston Churchill) saw him as a potential threat to national security and suspected Nazi sympathies. He was held without trial for over three years and released in 1943 on health grounds. His wife Diana Mosley was also imprisoned. Their daughter shot herself in the head in Germany the day war was declared. Hitler paid her medical expenses. So the British Union of Fascists had become unpopular by that time.

lampshadez · 05/10/2025 10:20

I didn't want the protests banned because I believe in the right but I have read the police are now going to get increased powers.

Yes, but they don’t need arresting. It’s unsustainable. I’d rather the government stopped selling bullets and bombs to be used against Palestinian civilians. I’d also rather my taxes were spent on the NHS.

When did the police ask people not to protest? I haven’t seen that.

"Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Mark Rowley asked organisers to cancel Saturday's event in support of Palestine Action, warning it would escalate tensions and will pull police resources away from communities “at a time when they are needed most”.:

They were also asked not to protest by the Prime Minister and Home Secretary.

But NO, their public self-flagellation for The Cause was more important than protecting Jewish spaces.

Palestine Action protest will still go ahead after synagogue terrorist attack

Hundreds of people have said they will attend a demonstration in Trafalgar Square on Saturday
