Nearly 500 arrested for support for Palestinian Action Group a proscribed terrorist organisation

This is getting ridiculous. The same group, think they can do what they want which includes, using a sledgehammer to attack a person, breaking into a military base and causing millions of pounds worth of damage. Hatred towards Jewish people.

It appears these people feel the law doesn't apply to them. None of the above is peaceful protest. Stronger sentences or fines are needed.

These people thought their right to protest was more important than police being used to protect and secure the Jewish communities around the uk.
you can’t argue with people whom jump on the bandwagon of the latest trendy cause!
arseholes the lot of them!

Sadly we do.

Am sure we could arrange a few planes out to Gaza

That’s where I sit on this issue. Netanyahu is a monster as are Hamas. He has single-handedly taken an unforgivable atrocity for which he had global empathy and used it to feed anti-semitism on a huge scale. He has done Hamas’s job for them. I feel deeply for British Jews suffering as a result - which is not to say I don’t also feel as deeply for Gaza's women and children.

I posted here at the time that I thought that Hamas had done it to provoke such a response from Israel. The world has pretty much ignored the Palestinians for decades.

Previous post should have read "children under 2."

What do you mean they've been ignored? There have been many, many attempts to establish peace.

I literally studied the conflict for GCSE History.

SinnerBoy · 05/10/2025 15:26

The daily killings by artillery barrages, air raids and snipers. The continuing ethnic cleansing of the West Bank.

Sure, it gets in the Guardian, but nobody has tried to do anything to prevent it. People are under the misapprehension that the Palestinians only attack Israel out of anti-Semitism, ignoring the fact that Israel continually chips away at Palestinian territory, forces them out and builds illegal settlements.

Please do NOT try to spin that into me supporting Hamas in ANY way.

I agree it’s anti-Semitic and the chanters should be arrested but Google says it’s not calling for ‘beheading of Jews in the streets of the UK’, it’s calling for the ‘army of Mohammed’ to fight against Israel. Israel has an army.

However, we are not in Israel or Palestine, and they may be calling for each other to die over there but it’s anti-Semitic and dangerous to have those views here.

The chant is: Khaybar Khaybar, ya yahud, Jaish Muhammad, sa yahud translated as Khaybar, Khaybar, oh Jews, the army of Mohammed will return; an iconic battle cry celebrating the events at Khayber, a historic Arabian oasis north of Medina in present-day Saudi Arabia.
The slogan recalls a series of seventh-century battles between Mohammed and local Jews during the first few years of Islam’s establishment.
As retold in the Quran and other textual sources, Mohammed’s invading forces fought against Jews and these battles resulted in the subjugation, mass expulsion, or slaughter of the area’s tribal Jewish communities.

It's nothing to do with Israel or fighting the Israeli army and the meaning and intention behind it is pretty clear. Tbh, I'm baffled as to why anyone would choose to quibble over whether the chant is explicit enough about how they'd like to kill the Jews that the 'army of Mohammed' will apparently be returning to finish off but we are where we are.

No, it was just unlawful for women to apply for a mortgage without a male guarantor.

No. It wasn't unlawful. There was no law preventing women from doing it. It was that mortgage companies didn't generally offer mortgages to women without one. The requirement for a male guarantor was what was made unlawful.

And this is a far cry from not being permitted by law to own property, which was definitely not the case and which was the point you stated, utterly falsely, and which I corrected?

Perhaps get your facts right?

Lots of people have tried to do lots of things to achieve peace. I know someone who actually worked on the peace process years ago. The idea that the situation has just been ignored is rubbish.

There has been very little since September 2001. The Americans used to speak out about the illegal settlements, but after 911, it has expanded hugely. Sure, there are regular negotiations, but the Americans have no desire to rein Israel in, because of their evangelical wing.

Israel has never wanted to cede territory, all of their offers have been far too little to be accepted by the Palestinians. As we can see, they are driven by expansionists, what do you think Greater Israel is all about? They want the lot.

SomethingFun · 05/10/2025 16:17

Regardless of what happens in the Middle East (which has been a shitshow of varying proportions my whole life) uk citizens have the right to be safe in their own country.

I don’t care how old you are, if you’re walking around with a swastika drawn onto a Star of David you are an anti-Semite as is anyone saying that person is just exercising their right to ‘free speech’ or choosing to march with them. And choosing to march when British people have died in this country as a direct result of propaganda towards their religion because you’ve already arranged childcare is the most bullshit, selfish thing I have ever heard on here.

I agree entirely, absolutely everyone, all colours, creeds and religions should be able to go about their day, safely and securely.

We sell arms to other countries used in other conflicts but apparently that doesn't gain any interest. I understand we dont actually sell actual bombs or actual bullets to Israel anyway, but parts of things, but if we did, what about the other countries we sell to. Seems nowhere else matters, very cult like.

There seems a callous indifference toward Palestinian civilians on all of these threads The only empathy and compassion is offered to the other side of the conflict, even Palestinian women and babies lives are seen as meaningless such is the entrenched dehumanisation of them as if they are nothing. very cult like.

Hamas also want the lot.

That's why the peace process never bloody gets anywhere.

But saying that there's been very little since September 2001 - Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. The person I know was working on the peace process in the 2010s. Just because you haven't heard about any breakthroughs, it doesn't mean there hasn't been people working on it. Not sure why you are only focusing on the Americans either.

An elderly protester.

Ah yes, the helpless elderly protestors who can barely walk and are just there to lend their support to a just cause.

There's a peace deal on the table that would end the war and make Palestinians safe and create enough stability that a longer term solution could be carved out.

Absolutely none of the people claiming to care about Palestinians and their humanity want it. Talk to them.

Xenia · 05/10/2025 16:47

There are loads of view points, not just two sides. Most people are not indifferent to people suffering and that includes many people around the world and here in the UK. However our law now says PA is banned as is Hamas. It probably would not be too hard to set up a new organisation which is similar and not banned but I am not sure how the rules work. There have been a lot of marches and a lot of disruption particularly here in London. Limiting peaceful protest is never an easy line to draw whether that is silent prayer outside an abortion clinic (wihch is insensitive and could be done a mile away in a church) or stopping people getting to hospital on motorways stopped by the just stop oil lot. We have to be fair to all, but I do sometimes wonder how people have so much time they can be on these marches all the time when some of us currently have the highest tax burden in 70 years yet half UK households don't even now pay income tax.

The just cause of vandalising British military equipment and attacking police officers. Think they also attacked some random Jewish business.

Heroes, all of them.

Just hope everyone realises I was responding to the photo of the man in the vile t-shirt (which you unfortunately can’t see in the posting history) and being sarcastic.

They are all scum. Every single one of them.

WestwardHo1 · 05/10/2025 16:53

But they are on the RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY. Righteousness is on their side. They are Good People, and they are letting everyone know. They stand up for the Oppressed. (but only some Oppressed. You know, the ones that Israel are oppressing. The other Oppressed don't matter as much).

I read a horrific article about sexual violence in the DRC today. I'm sorry if this is upsetting, but a doctor there was operating on a child of five years old who had been raped and he was repairing her. Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh is trying her damndest to highlight the issue of the savage epidemic of sexual violence which is sweeping certain parts of Africa. This was in the Times, so it's hardly a niche issue only a few people know about. I'm not saying that people can't care about more than one issue at a time, but I'm wondering why there are no demonstrations to support these women and girls.

I also read the Matthew Syed article, where he reports on how he went among the marchers and demonstrators and asked them some fairly innocuous questions. The aggression and hostility he received in return confirms what I had suspected about very large numbers of people on these marches and demos. Have a read if you can get past the paywall https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/pro-palestine-protests-cg3mm5zvg

I asked a simple question at a pro-Palestine protest and it turned ugly

Police arrested 493 people at the pro-Palestine protests in Trafalgar Square, where I encountered abuse, swearing, ignorance and virulent, unthinking antisemitism

I agree.

And they didn’t even have the decency to hold off for one bloody week as a mark of respect.

How morally bankrupt do you have to be to continue doing something you know is going to make a community which has just experienced a terror attack even more fearful?

I honestly despair.

A mark of respect for what?
