To think it's inappropriate to constantly kiss and snog on public transport?

The couple on the train infront of me have barely stopped snogging the whole way. Slurpy noises included. It's disgusting. They're in their 50s I would guess. AIBU to feel this way?

No I wouldn't like that either. Urgh.

MissMoneyFairy · 02/10/2025 18:21

It's performance romance, any age is pretty sad.

WhyArePiratesCalledPiratessss · 02/10/2025 18:21

Pft.
Leave em alone.
Wouldn't bother me in the slightest!

Whereismyfleeceblanket · 02/10/2025 18:23

Went to a concert a few years ago. Seated in front were a couple who took selfies and snogged the whole time.
Bet if anyone has asked what songs had been sung they would have had no idea.

Gross exhibitionism..

FaceBothered · 02/10/2025 18:23

I think I'd glance up, cringe a little and then think how lovely it is for them to be in love.

Not sure if you're exaggerating the 'slurpy' noises to get people to agree with you?

I would've thought it pretty difficult to hear that over the noise of the train.

EnchantedToMeetYou2 · 02/10/2025 18:24

Disgusting and completely unnecessary @CarrotCrusader YANBU!!

I also extend this to people that stand and do this at the cash desk in my shop while I’m trying to serve them 🙄🙄 which happens far more often than you would think!

BatchCookBabe · 02/10/2025 18:25

Foul and grim. Desperate attention seeking. Understandable if it's teenagers, but any older than that is pathetic, needy, and attention seeking. I would have taken the piss if I were you.

IceCreamWoes · 02/10/2025 18:25

Aww, I don't mind it. Nice people are happy and getting some 🤣

Yanbu, get a bloody room, some of us have been single forever and don't need your love for eachother shoved in our faces

I read the title as Do you think it's important to constantly kiss and snog on public transport?

My first thought was well, its good to keep a hand in, but maybe not constantly.

Seriously though, no. I hate mouth sounds and close up kissing on TV turns me so close up in real life? Nope.

CoffeeCantata · 02/10/2025 18:35

I think it’s selfish and inconsiderate to do private things in public spaces, be it putting on a full face of makeup or what used to be revoltingly termed ‘heavy petting’.

Anything which makes other people embarrassed or uncomfortable has no place on public transport.

Candyflosies · 02/10/2025 18:54

I would have asked can i join in.
If i was being looked at in disgust because i was kissing i would say you still looking you want to join in.

Or id just think good for them and get on with my life.
Honestly op let people be let them enjoy it you dont know them they was not hurting you (only your eyes).
Plus you was on a train you could have moved a carriage or changed seats.
But this being MN you will most likely quote me and say i paid for a first class seat.
Or why should i have to move well you dont have to its a choice same you choose to stay and thats what you watched you could have looked out the window.

No matter what anyone says on here it will be something else like read a book i didnt have a book ear phones i didnt have them on me.
Look at your phone look out the window etc.
Its a choice but you chose to look in disgust and type about two strangers you know nothing about to the online world.

Its a bit like the that old thread of a single man going to the cinema alone the poster was not happy about a strange single man she knew nothing about going to the cinema.

Revolting

NotTerfNorCis · 02/10/2025 18:58

Agreed. Vile.

Let people be disgustingly happy. We don't have enough love in this world.

keeptalkinghappytalk · 02/10/2025 19:04

Unpleasant and intrusive of other people s space

Lou802 · 02/10/2025 19:10

I only hate this because I'm insanely jealous!

myavocadoisgrowing · 02/10/2025 19:11

Only if you’re a teenager.

50s? 🤢

I’m more than happy with my DH of 30 years, we don’t snog in public. It’s totally unnecessary.

FranticFrankie · 02/10/2025 19:12

Yuk

But that's just you're opinion, lots of things are unnecessary but we still do them and still enjoy it. Having a glass of wine is unnecessary. I'd love to be snogging on a train and I'm 50.

myavocadoisgrowing · 02/10/2025 19:11

50s? 🤢

Why do only teenagers get all the fun?

Complet · 02/10/2025 19:18

Have you never been so loved up you can’t stop wanting to kiss each other? I think it’s quite reassuring to be that passionate at 50. From reading posts on here I feel all I can hope to look forward to is a cup of tea and the occasional peck on the cheek on my birthday once I hit my 50s.

That's likely because you've been with your DH for 30 years though.

We are in our early 40s. Happily in love in a new-ish relationship. Absolutely snogging in public. Thankfully, most people seem very happy for us (including a bunch of teenagers who cheered us on recently).

Let people have some innocent fun, share in the love and joy. So many people seem so miserable these days it is nice to see others full of joy.

NormasArse · 02/10/2025 19:20

I want a snog now…
