To ask what’s that lovely washing powder you all use?!

Lol, very random I know but I’ve realised a lot of the time if I’ve bought clothes off Vinted, they all smell of the same, lovely smelling washing powder.

We use Fairy non bio all the time which really doesn’t smell of much and there’s never a smell on the clothes after they’re dry.

Bought a bundle off Vinted which I’ve just collected and it all smells of that same lovely washing powder. It’s very popular as I smell it a lot.

Soooo, does anyone know which one I mean? It’s definitely not fairy non bio that’s for sure!

Absolutely disgusting.

I have to wash the clothes at least twice to get that stench off them.

Is it not the FC that gives the nice smell? I use Ariel Liquitabs and tend to chop and change between Comfort and Lenor depending on what is cheaper at the time and where we are shopping. I also like a variety scents so will often choose a different colour the next time. I currently have massive bottle of yellow comfort a cos that's what the had in Costco. In uni I used comfort pearls for convenience.

I have a friend with that washing smell and she swears to god it's just persil non-bio with lenor spring awakening!

She also cleans her washing machine every two weeks with vinegar and bicarb.

IMO powder smells much nicer than the liquid detergent!

It is apparent to me from some of the adverts on TV for these products that they are designed to cover up for clothes not being washed and dried properly.
Things like smells "coming back", or the room where the laundry is hanging on racks being smelly.
Clean clothes don't smell. Badly washed or badly dried clothes can smell.

In general, wash everything at 40 degrees, unless the label specifically says 'delicate' or wool. Wash underwear, socks, and bedding at 60 degrees. Wash towels at 60 degrees every other wash.
Make sure it is 100% dry before putting away (finish off in an airing cupboard, tumble dryer, or a heat source).

I never add artificial chemical smells into my laundry.

Daz + small amount of classic fairy fc (we live in a very hard water area or I wouldn't bother). Line dry as much as poss. I use Dreft on my delicates which is a bit floral smelling but not over overpowering.

I can't stand being able to aggressively smell detergent unless I've got my nose to fabric. I've tried to pick products I don't think smell too strongly. Quite interested in trying the liquid marseilles soap mentioned upthread as I agree with a pp that Daz has started to get expensive. Otherwise I'm thinking I'll swap to Waitrose own.

@MrsToothyBitch it’s this one, very reasonably priced, it’s usually on offer at that price

I got asked by a colleague what perfume I wore as it had a lovely clean smell. I wasn’t wearing any, my clothes were washed in fairy and the golden unstoppable sand hung outside. I love the elixir stuff but it’s so expensive.

I find Tallow + Ash a bit hit and miss. The Date Night wasn't very strong but the Odyssey and Oud were gorgeous. I washed my teenage son's bedding in Oud last week and used a tiny amount in the carpet cleaner, his whole room still smells gorgeous. I wouldn't use them for everything though, I keep them for bedding and his work clothes (trying Santal on my bedding tomorrow!) they're not good for stains or grease etc mind.
Usually it's Ariel pods and Dettol Laundry. Everything smells fresh and clean without being overpowering. (I also use Unstoppables every now and again though!)
